Fun, fast take out meal with lots of creative options. Our server was helpful and efficient. The location is close to a busy corner with limited parking options. The stand is take-out only. It is around the corner from Taste and owned by the same people. Apparently they had a storage room they didn't need and decided to turn it into a money making opportunity. The combination of the spicy jalapeño with the cream cheese was so perfect. And the bacon just took it over the top. Bravo. -Chili Cheese Dog: it was good! I wish I would've gotten raw onions, ketchup and mustard on it but this was a solid dog. -Plain Jane - ketchup: my daughter (who is super picky) felt it was too much for her (toddler) -Plain Jane - ketchup and mustard: my son tore it up! I do wish they had kid options as I was pissed I paid $6 for a hot dog for my young daughter and she didn't even eat it. But I totally get the business side of it. Came here after a hike. This really hit the spot and I got my dog super quick at the window. I wanted to try the coney one bc it is a Michigan staple. The bun is really soft and the dog is juicy. The chili had nice spices and I couldn't really tell what the coney sauce consisted of. It kind of tasted like mustard. read more

I spent all morning walking 20000 steps up and down South Haven eagerly yearning for that juicy hot dog I was going to have for lunch at Chomps. My daughter was like Pavlov's Dog. Every time I would mention Chomps she would have an uncontrolled reflex drooling with froth down both sides of her mouth. Yum she would say! So we get there and she has a plain Jane and I order a Chicago. Let's put this one point behind us and then focus on how we can improve. Let's just say the Pavlovian response is permanently gone from my daughter and this is sad to see. I believe in improving the food scene in South Haven and generally believe in Adam Smith's "invisible hand" doctrine. However, change driven by the invisible force of the market takes time. Hence, I feel it my moral obligation to provide counsel to drive improvement. So I would suggest the following recommendations to move to 5 star ratings: - grill the dogs on charcoal - a gourmet dog cannot be boiled ; - serve the hot dog piping hot - the first poin above may help in this matter (call this a bogo!) - provide a toasted bun option - question: what is coney sauce on a coney dog? (Rhetorical - don't even respond) and just call it homemade Chilli and we are good to go - serve up some fresh cut fries versus chips These are simple easy steps to go to full potential . Alternatively Adam Smith would say, no worries something else will pop up and we shall all stay content with our Pavlovian drool. read more
