Blueberry pancake with a side of bacon

We were at a weekend event at Gingerman and looking for a restaurant that wasn't in South Haven. So we gave this place a try. It's about 4 miles East of Gingerman. PROs: Food was very good. Not too busy for breakfast. We had the haystack, the blueberry pancake, the country skillet, and bacon for breakfast. The pancake was huge and the size of the plate. Server was nice. They have 2 seating areas, one closer to the kitchen with no windows and another one in an enclosed patio type area with lots of windows. We liked it so much for breakfast that we went back for lunch a couple of days later. The first time, we sat near the kitchen. The second time, we sat in the enclosed patio. Both were nice. CONs: Coffee is weak. Tap water tastes metallic. At lunchtime, it is very busy, so it takes a long time to get food. In summary, we'd definitely go back for the food, but would avoid the tap water. We liked having a place to go that wasn't in South Haven, since downtown South Haven is super busy and hard to find parking. Country Fare has their own parking lot, although it's small and gravel topped. For lunch, the lot was full, so we parked directly across the street in Family Dollar's paved lot.

Blueberry pancakes at least a foot across!

If you were to look for a perfect example of "down home cooking", it would have to be this place. From the old school decor, staff, and local patrons to the food, it's on point. Our server, Marsha, was awesome. Great suggestions, opinions that were thoughtful as well as funny ("never trust a skinny waitress" was one example), and a genuine warmth and friendliness that keeps people coming back. Grand Junction is the blueberry capital of Michigan so I definitely tried their blueberry pancakes. Well...Just one as it was over a foot across! Forget "farm to table" hype...these were grown a few blocks away! Next was this sinful thing called the Haystack: a huge pile of hash browns, 3 eggs, sausage gravy, and cheese along with toast and sausage links. All the flavors were spot on, cooked just right, and served quick. If you're ever in W. Michigan, get yourself over to Grand Junction for breakfast and maybe meet Marsha.

Just a little place very near the Kal-Haven trail. Diner at its best. Friendly, fast and good portion. Great eyesight into the kitchen. If they arent afraid to show you, vim not afraid to eat there... Lol. Comfortable and family friendly. Try it soon.

A nice little local place! Food was fantastic, portions were huge, and the BEST blueberry pancake I have ever had! Great coffee as well. Service was fantastic as well!

    Nearby tracks.

Burgers and grilled cheese were good. Glad to see some outside picnic tables in these times. Bathrooms new and clean. Food was ready on time. Stopped here from bike trail.

Hunting season where the hunters eat.

Great price, great meal, small town atmosphere! Friendly, daily specials, right off the Kal - Haven trail. Sit where you want. Nothing fancy but very good. Marcia is the kind of server you always wish you had, very nice and accommodating!

    The haystack meal. Amazing!!!

Food was okay, not exciting enough to return tomorrow, trying a different place tomorrow. Service was good.

Excels at the basics: good food, good prices, good service. Does all this consistently and in a very clean environment.

The food is hot and you are called to the window to get your order. The burrito was kind of pricey, decent size and just ok. It's served with a few chips. The chili cheese dogs had liquid white cheese, homemade chili with beans. The hot dog was hot inside (normally I've been getting cold inside at other places) however the chili just didn't thrill me. Okkkkkkkk I'm a chili dog snob so it was just my personal preference. Both meals came with a 20 oz pop. The menu is VERY small and limited but if the food is good you don't need a lot of items. Plus the husband & wife are doing everything alone. I really really hope they succeed in this business. I give them so much credit for trying and chasing their dream. We probably will not go back because we weren't thrilled. There have been a lot of positive comments on our local social pages. I've heard their shakes are amazing - give the place a try

Wasn't a huge fan of the food provided. The sliders were extremely dry as were the kids chicken…read moretenders. Another issue I had was the entire online ordering service. My wife had ordered the food through the QR code provided on the sign, after placing the order it listed they would bring our food to the car; during the order it even asked for our location? Instead we received zero confirmation that the order was ready, as it sat outside waiting to be picked up. We were expected to rummage through a pile of orders/bags in order to find our name on the ticket; not too practical. Definitely wouldn't waste money here, especially when they market themselves to be something they aren't.
