Tiny seating area that I've never seen anyone use before

I don't really like corn dogs. I grew up eating those heavily battered frozen ones that turn out to be extremely dry and sad. With that in mind, on my first visit to Grand Haven several years back, I was hesitant to join the long line that I saw forming in front of this stand along the boardwalk. But I thought hey, at only $1.75 each, might as well give it a try. That one visit made me a fan. On my most recent visit on a weekend afternoon, I found a line almost 40 people deep waiting for these delicious corn dogs. The employees work very quickly - hot dog on a stick, dip into batter, and fry. Once you order, they take a brush and paint the pup with your choice of condiment(s). They continuously have corn dogs coming out, almost like a factory line, and it only takes a few seconds to gather one up to hand out to hungry customers. It took around 25 minutes for us to reach the front, with most customers ahead of us ordering 3-4 skewers each. Pronto Pup ($1.75) - The quality is still there. A hot and steaming hot dog dipped into pancake batter, fried, and slathered with your choice of ketchup and/or mustard. The breading is light and thin with a delicate crisp - almost more similar to tempura rather than the more traditional corn meal breading. The inside hot dog is piping hot and moist. It's salty, which is perfect to replace the electrolytes lost while waiting in the sun. It's simple but delicious. And it's so easy to down three or four of these if you're not careful. Pronto Pup - the lines are long, but the wait is worth it. It's a perfect snack to chomp on as you walk along the boardwalk.

Great dogs at an affordable price, haven't raised their prices in over 20 years, will always return.

We tried the famous pronto pups when we vacationed a few weeks ago. Definitely a cool experience and the staff is super friendly and efficient! You'll definitely have to get a few to get full! 10/10 would recommend trying for the experience of a local spot.

We have been visiting the Grand Haven area for many years now but have never had the opportunity to eat at Pronto Pups. We had heard amazing things but would always pass on waiting in the long lines. That said we finally tried them this weekend. The dogs were good but not great. Reality couldn't match how I had built the place up in my mind.

Pronto pups is a spot in Grand Haven you must try! It is so much more than a corn dog, it is a game changer. The Pronto Pup has a light corn bread coating with the smear of your choice: ketchup or mustard. Super simply, super easy, super yummy! I see some people walking away with ten tucked in their fingers! I stuck with one, my boy grabbed up two. We decided we could easily have polished off 3-5 easily if we were choosing Pronto Pup as a meal. We decided to grab it as an appetizer before shoving off to the next local fare in Grand Haven. Please try Pronto Pups, it is proprietary. You may never find another one like this amazing little shop! You will always have this place on your mind! It's THAT good!

I've passed by this little stand several times this winter, but finally had a chance to stop once they were open and the lines weren't halfway around the block. This is a cute place.. only big enough for a fryer, fountain coke machine and two employees. Cash only and each pronto pup is $1.75. Made to order and two make a great snack or a meal if you aren't that hungry! One of the best "corn dogs" I've had in a long time. Light on the breading but absolutely delicious!

You simply can't miss Pronto Pups if in Grand Haven. The line alone should tell you how amazing this place is. They serve one dogs. For $1.75. That's it. What else could you need? They're so lightly breaded and crispy, bites of heaven on a stick. For a meal you'd need a couple to fill you up. I will never pass it up when in town visiting.

The perfect, inexpensive snack after a few hours on the beach!

We enjoyed our Pronto Pups and ice-cold Coke after a few hours on the beach! Service with a smile, perfectly prepared pups made our experience excellent!

I like how pronto's dips the corn dogs in ketchup and mustard because I always make a mess doing it on my own.

If you got kids, or if you have the buds of a kid, this is a great place for soft, textureless,…read moretasteless hotdogs.

It was seeing their krautdog on the menu that convinced me to buy the Groupon for this place. I…read moretried it on my first visit here and it was good, but in all honesty it didn't blow me away like I'd hoped. I think I'm more used to store bought sauerkraut out of a jar which is more sour and I suspect theirs may be homemade. It was good, but just not what I'd prefer although I'm sure for some it would be very good since everybody's taste preferences are different. I suspected though that if I came back again and tried something different I'd be more impressed so I held off on writing this review until I'd been there a 2nd time. Last night was my second visit and I have to say I was very impressed with my Gregordog which is a chili dog with ketchup, mustard, onion and pickle relish. Now that was impressive! I'm not normally a huge fan of chili dogs, but I will be going back for the Gregordog in the future since it was definitely in the top 2 of the best chili dog I've had. I think the one thing that impressed me the most on it was not a flavor thing but a prep thing. What I really enjoyed was that the onion they put on were finely minced so when you bit into it you could taste the onion, but it wasn't like you had a mouthful of onion which is never a good thing. Both times when I went in the guys working behind the counter were friendly and I give kudos for that since good customer service is getting harder to come by every day. I will continue to eat here a couple times a month and I've got a sneaky feeling that as I explore their menu more I may have to bump them up to a 5 star review. In addition to the wide variety of hotdogs they also serve burgers, pizza slices, burritos and a few side items and of course soft drinks.

The service is good but be prepared to pay cash. Obviously the star of the show are the hot dogs and we were able to give them all a try. It's known as being a late-night stop if you've had a few drinks, but I also like it sober. This isn't Chicago or Detroit, so don't compare them. Yesterdog is its own thing! The buns are steamed, soft, and squishy, and the hot dogs are not snappy. The chili is gloppy and salty, and it's honestly some of my favorite comfort food. It's super messy so be ready for a lot of napkins. New owners recently took over the spot but so far have kept everything the same, including only taking cash. Try your hand at the tip target and grab a seat at a lumpy booth. Enjoy the many photos and messages left by previous patrons. The menu is simple - hot dogs (my favorite is the cheddar dog), chips, and beverages. There is a system of ordering so read it on their website. And don't forget cash. (They do have an ATM on site now.) Metered street parking and paid parking lots are all over in this area.

My cousin and I sat at the bar, and you can get full service at the bar. She ordered a hot dog and I had a pizza. The hot dog came with that weird neon relish, in typical Chicago fashion, and was on a poppyseed bun. The fries are crinkle cut, and I don't know what seasoning they use, but it was so good! A little sweetness mixed in with the spices. The pizza was good; thin crust and cut square style like they do in Chicago, which I forgot about and kind of hate. I should've asked for silverware, but didn't. Next time I'd ask for it pie cut instead. The flavor was really good though. It was a bit pricey for what it was - it was a 12" pizza, and each topping an additional $3. $21 just seems high to me for a thin crust pepperoni mushroom pizza. I had draft beer and my cousin had a mixed drink. She had no complaints about hers, and mine was quite good! So many places draft beer tastes a little soapy, whether it's the way the clean their lines or how they wash their glasses, but I didn't taste any of that here. There aren't many choices on draft but was a good variety. They also have a full bar and lots of canned beverage choices. They don't have the healthiest menu, but that's not surprising since they're known for Chicago hot dogs, Italian beef, and pizza. If you know what you're going for it's perfect! The vibe is good. The space is pretty open, gets a decent amount of light, is clean, and there is parking! The restrooms are tiny, but clean, and I appreciate that after you wash your hands the door opens out so you don't have to touch a handle. We went on a Monday after work, which does turn into karaoke night, but we had time for a couple drinks and food before that really got going. It also wasn't crazy in there and we could still carry on a conversation at the bar without having to yell. I'm glad I finally made it in, and fully appreciate having them in the North Monroe area. I will definitely plan to have more happy hours here!
