After living in Lima for half a year over 2 years ago, I discovered this place on yelp and had to come reminisce. The tallarin a la huancaina was exactly the way I remember it being in Peru and I could not have been happier. The other food was all amazing, but this dish will forever be my favorite. I wanted causa but they always run out at lunch time, she said so get there early if you want a special treat! Inside is clean and they have a bakery selection similar to what you see in the street cafes in Lima. They charge an inflation tax, Ironic since at 23 dollars for three pieces of chicken it's their prices that are inflated. Then they tax you another 3% to use a credit card. Excellent food and very friendly staff. This was my first time trying Peruvian food, and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken saltado was flavorful and fresh. I usually never like tomatoes... but the tomatoes in the chicken saltado dish here are my one exception! The chicken saltado is served with onions, tomatoes, fries, and rice, which all paired excellently with the soy sauce-based sauce. The inside of the restaurant is casual and comfortable, and had a good amount of diners enjoying lunch on a Sunday. I'm really looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes here. My previous review was from eight years ago before me and The Hubs moved south of Denver and I hadn't been back to Pollo Lima until last week. And I went again today! There's no reason for the eight year gap, and every time I drove down Arapahoe and saw Pollo Lima as I passed by, I always said 'we need to go back there'. I kept remembering the deliciousness of their rotisserie chicken. Anyway, flash forward to last week and today. I have feasted on that delicious chicken both times and have had the fried yuca, black beans, and house salad. They do a great job with the yuca! It's not greasy and it has just the barest sprinkling of salt. Their black beans are delicious, as well. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean. Will I be there again next week? Hmmm, maybe... I need to go more frequently so I can try something else. As it is, I just have a craving for that chicken! read more

How can I give this restaurant 19 stars? Oh my goodness. The mix ceviche: HUGE portions of fish, shrimp, squid, and octopus. And I mean, HUGE. The spices with the lime juice... I eat ceviche all of the time and this was the best I have ever had. You can choose no spice, mild, or spicy, the mild is actually (reasonably) spicy, so choose carefully. They also have a drink made of boiled purple corn that they've added sugar and cinnamon to. DELICIOUS!! If you haven't been here, GO HERE. You will be more than pleasantly surprised. read more

Really enjoyed eating at Pollo Lima last weekend. I ate here a few years ago but haven't been back since. Their pollo a la brasa is always delicious. They've added a lot of Peruvian dishes to their menu since my last visit as well. I'd like to go back and try more items off the menu. We ordered chicha morada (purple corn) for our drinks, half a pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken with sauce) which came with two sides (fried yuca and plantains). The chicken was juicy and flavorful. I loved both the green and yellow sauce that came with the dish. The fried yuca was just ok. I've had better. The plantains were excellent. I loved the meat in the salchipapa and the fries were well done but it definitely needed more sauce. I was a little disappointed on that front because it would've been amazing with more sauce. They've redone the inside since I last came. It looks fantastic. Amble seating (and it was packed). Very clean inside as well. Food came out quickly. They had a live guitar player due to celebrating Peru's independence which was so fun! The restaurant is located just off of I-25 and Arapaho. Very easy to find. Free parking. read more

The hubs and I found ourselves down south today and found Pollo Lima as our lunch spot. We love Peruvian food so we were all in to try this. This was an unassuming restaurant with prices that bely the quality of food we received. We both ordered the quarter chicken lunch plate; me with black beans and cilantro rice and the hubs with black beans and French fries as our sides. The chicken was perfectly roasted and falling off the bone. It was well seasoned and absolutely packed with flavor. We tried the Aji, cilantro and curry sauces with my hands down favorite being the cilantro sauce. The beans were also incredible and the owner let us know they were cooked from scratch. Again, maximum flavors packed into those beans. I poured some of the liquid over the rice and mixed all of that with a sauce here and there. It's incredible how well-prepared beans, rice and chicken can make me so happy. They are straight forward flavors that were lovingly crafted into an amazing meal. read more

Amazing food and service! We were total newbies to Peruvian cuisine but we will happily eat it again wherever we get the chance! Our whole family loved the experience of trying new foods and the staff did a great job helping us choose a good sampling of dishes to try for the first time! We tried both empanadas and the Papa Rellana off the appetizer menu. Delicious! I just picked up this To go order from Pollo Lima. I can't wait to dig into this roasted chicken. The smell has been wafting through my car tempting me on my way home. The plantains are golden brown, the chicken looks tender and crisp. Yep it is as good as it looks, a mouth full of tender, juicy, grilled goodness. And that's without the freshly made salsas. I was so excited to see that there was a Peruvian restaurant within 30 mins of me. I decided to order a traditional meal of Lomo Saltado for takeaway. It smelled really good, and I was looking forward to getting home, to eat it. Sadly......I was really disappointed. It was basically just meat, two pieces of tomato, a few pieces of onion, and maybe 8 fries. The sauce that came with it was sooooo salty that it made the meal difficult to eat. There was a side of rice that came with it, but it looked and tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. When I went to take some out of the container, basically the entire "clump" of rice came out together, all stuck together. The woman helping me at the restaurant was very nice, so there's that. But for a few cents shy of $20, this made me feel like I wasted my money. Maybe it's because I arrived 30 minutes before they were closing?
