I placed an online order and drove 30 minutes to pick it up only to get home and realize they forgot all of the BBQ sauce that was supposed to come with our BBQ sandwiches. I understand mistakes happen but I paid full price for an incomplete order and had already driven 30 minutes home before realizing their mistake. When I called the manager's response was that they "don't charge for the BBQ sauce," so she wouldn't offer a refund. That completely misses the point. The sauce is part of the meal I paid for. I wasn't asking for something extra I was asking for some accountability for an order their staff didn't prepare correctly. In this economy you never know if that $50 someone just spent on dinner was their last bit of extra money for the week. After a long week it's incredibly frustrating to spend that much make the drive get home to an incomplete meal and then be met with a rude and dismissive response when you call about it. Mistakes happen but how management handles those mistakes says a lot about a business. read more

My life is consumed with a search for the perfect pulled pork sandwich. One where the pork is unbelievably tender, with flavor that doesn't need barbecue sauce and that has absolutely zero fat. Ninety eight percent of the sandwiches I've tried have disappointed me. I did find one in Illinois and thought there was only one in Colorado until I happened upon Hogback. After lunching there more than once I can promise you their pulled pork (and other barbecued meats) will blow your mind and excite your taste buds like few others. Would give 0 star if I could. Did a pick up order, when I got home there was only 1 sauce when there should've been 4 sauces for 2 meals. The workers were rude and kept saying call back at a different time for refund. The next day they said they can only gave back 10%. The food couldn't have been any dryer. Last year I picked up a new client to manage her rental property, and she wanted to meet for lunch so we could get acquainted. I was familiar with the area since I managed a home in the Polo Reserve area of Littleton about twenty years ago, so I pulled up Maps and came across Hogback BBQ. We decided to meet there--and it did not disappoint. The food was so good that this year, when I had an employee working in the area, I made a point to meet there for lunch as well. If you love BBQ, this is absolutely the place. The interior isn't fancy, but it's very clean, the service is impeccable and friendly, and the food is consistently delicious. My experience was horrible. Greasy garbage . I picked up a go order. No BBQ sauce, no napkins, no utensils . Brisket was nothing but grease and fat. Quarter inch of grease at the bottom of the cheese fries. Someone is going to get sick eating from this place. So bummed, my husband and I loved this place and have been fans since this was Schneid's. We ate here a couple months ago and were less than impressed by the female purple haired server/bartender. We were torn since we were in the area if we should go there today or a different barbecue favorite place, we decided to go there and we were hoping that we wouldn't have to deal with her when a male server waited on us. We are hoping our favorite red headed male server would be there.....which he wasn't until right before we left. I had to deal with the rude purple haired server to request bbq sauce, since they don't have bottles on tables anymore. She was, no surprise, rude as can be. I asked our male server for another side of bbq beans as we were finishing up our food. For some reason the purple haired server, who I'd observed the whole meal running her fingers through her hair and touching at and picking her face w/o washing her hands brought us the side of beans. Her disgusting greasy thumb was touching the beans and she left a big greasy thumb print on the rim of the black bowl. I honestly wanted to throw up. She wouldn't stop staring at me from the bar. I hold her I refused to eat the beans and why....said please take off our bill. She then comes back with another bowl of beans. I said we just want to leave and want the check. Never saw our server again and we had to keep dealing with her. So awkward. We won't be back as long as she works there. I'm not a particular fan of BBQ food, but decided to try it from the food truck in Denver and loved it so much I kept thinking about it later in the week and wanted more lol. I thought maybe it was just the dish that I chose (chicken) and the other meats wouldn't taste as good...but then I tried the pulled pork and I can't tell which one is my favorite! I can't wait to try more of their menu items, just wish we had one down here in Colorado Springs! Why have I not discovered this place sooner? My husband and I went today at the recommendation of a friend. It was fantastic. We split a rack of ribs. They were meaty, smoky, lean -- excellent in every way. We loved the original/traditional bbq sauce. For sides, I had the hand cut fries which may be the best fries in Denver. I love fresh, not frozen, fries, and they were seasoned perfectly. My husband raved about the green chili and the potato salad he had. I really love the Hogback Barbecue. It's tucked into a small older strip center on Depew. I always access it via Chatfield and Wadsworth just past the traffic circle at 470. They have a small bar, a patio and an indoor dining room. They have always been super friendly to me whether I'm dining in or doing takeout. Parking is in the lot of the strip shopping center, but there might be a little street parking also. They don't have fancy packaging, just foil and clamshell containers, but the food is awesome! You can tell they smoke it a long time and slowly. Sides are delicious too! We did takeout today with a rack of ribs and half chicken so we could have leftovers! We also ordered settlers beans and some green chili to also have for leftovers!! I like everything I've had here, brisket, pork, ribs and chicken. They have a variety of sauces that you can use there or take in your carry out. Every time I come early in the day, I get their iced tea which is always fresh and delicious! I wouldn't classify it as a dive; and it's not fancy. It's just a nice fast casual no frills place to grab lunch or dinner. Just wasn't a fan of anything really. The place is clean, the service is good but the food was a bit tough, greasy and bland. The waffle fry nachos were just covered in cheddar cheese with no flavor. We have been here about 4 times in the past year. Looks like a lot of locals frequent here. The food is good. We had Wings and Pulled pork and Brisket sandwiches but the service is pathetic and slowwwwww. Consistently unfriendly staff.. it gets busy, but the servers are inpatient and lack personality and friendliness. The food is not that good enough to keep us coming back with the lack of personable waitstaff. Charges .50 for another small side of dressing for the wings. I did see 1 server smile.... From start to finish this place was amazing. Ordered fried pickles for an appetizer and they were the best I've ever had and I've tried a lot. They were crispy and flavorful and the dipping sauce was amazing. For our meals my husband ordered the brisket platter with sweet potato fries..the fries had a light brown sugar dusting which made them out of this world. My son ordered the jumbo chicken wings...he ordered garlic parmesan and lemon pepper flavors and he is still talking about the garlic parmesan ones. I ordered the brisket sandwich with beans...the brisket was excellent...had great flavor and the portion was good size. The spicy bbq sauce I got to go along with it was so good too. We chose the fried pickles. They were not greasy and had a great taste but I would have preferred a different batter coating. The chef used a cornmeal mix. Just wasn't my cup Of tea. The main dishes were BB Ribs and a plate of Brisket and pulled pork, sides of coleslaw and potato salad. Best was the cornbread! Super moist and delicious. The ribs were good, not overly sauced up which is my preference. The brisket was a touch drier than I like but still good. The pulled pork was very moist and well spiced.
