We were so happy with our dinner tonight. The social distancing was still maintained, service from the moment we walked in and ate was absolutely amazing! Jenn at the front was extremely friendly and accommodating. John sat us and was the funniest sweetest man ever! Our little interaction with him definitely set the tone for the night. We sat in the bar area at a nice little corner table. Steve-O was the main one to take care of us! Super great!! Donovan and Ashley also came by and filled our waters and made sure we were good! Exceptional service for a team that had bar guests and numerous tables! The food was AMAZING! We started with the fried pickles and the prime rib fondue! OMG that fondue was phenomenal! I enjoy coming here but their high prices do not match their ambiance. I like their prime rib and drinks. I haven't ordered a more expensive steak bc the ambiance doesn't feel like a high-end steakhouse. Maybe they should lower the price... In the mood for an adult dinner, headed to the steakhouse. With reduced capacity due to Covid, there was a waiting list and I was given a buzzer. Got seated 10 minutes before closing. Ordered a steak medium rare 'Pittsburgh Style". Steak was cooked as order and good. To be honest, I've heard of Pittsburgh style, which is supposedly the robust char from steal workers throwing a steak on a blast furnace or a hot piece of steel. I thought it was a little more than normal char, but, then again, not sure what it's supposed to be. Sweet potato hash was a great side. Creme brulee for dessert, served in a deep than normal dish. Meaning there is less surface area with torched sugar on top and more untorched cream. And whipped cream on the side. Absolutely 5 star. Let me tell you why - food, people, location. We have eaten here now 3 times and each time has been perfect. The prime rib fondue is a MUST! French onion soup is great! So I've been going to this restaurant since the first week they opened back in 2018. I've definitely seen them work the kinks out and serve up consistently good food. They've recently changed the menu up where everything is now A La Carte so their profit margins slightly increase. I totally understand. The NY Strip is normally my go to. I've had everything on the menu and they've fortunately worked out the kinks and growing pains. Slightly spendy based on the demographics of Maricopa. One must remember this is part of Harrah's Ak-Chin Hotel & Casino whereby the majority of the clientele are high stakes players using comps for food and beverage. Bottom Line it's good, and you won't find a better semi fine dining experience in Maricopa. Now you can dress casual here. The majority of the staff here is excellent. I want to say I love this place, as I have been many times, but this last experience held me back from being able to give it the 5 stars it yearns for... I ordered, asking first about the special (wanted to know if the red wine reduction was in-fact gluten free on the short rib), then when it was served to me covered in a gravy I almost cried...I had to flag down the waitress and ask if that was gluten free (knowing that there was no way it was), and after checking she informed me it was not. I was kindly offered a replacement meal, but seeing as how the other 3 in my party were already eating I declined (I hate making people wait on me and eating in front of them while the just wait). The manager eventually came over and he was very nice, and did give us free desert to take back to our rooms, but sadly my night was already ruined. Thankfully we had ordered and demolished the wonderful prime rib fondue appetizer (you can see the remnants of his awesomeness in the picture of our cocktails), or I would have gone completely without food that night. I will likely go back when in town again, but will be sure to stick to my standard filet and call it good. read more

This place is a bit pricey, which has kept us from trying it out, but many of the reviews say how good the food is. There were 3 of us dining. We tried the prime rib fondue, which I thought was tasty, but not quite whatever we were expecting. The description, which included gruyere cheese, made us think more of a Swiss fondue flavor, but the gruyere was not the star. This dish did not have much of a cheesy flavor. It was hard to taste the gruyere. It was there, but hidden within whatever the other ingredients were. It was a bit tangy and more of a yellow/orange color. The toasted pieces of bread were very good and complemented the dish well, but we were really hoping for more of the cheesy flavor we expect from a fondue dish. We all ordered a bowl of soup. My daughter and I got the Lobster Bisque, and my husband ordered the French onion. The lobster bisque was excellent, and I have to say, it was worth the price. It included actual pieces of lobster on top, which could be mixed in. I did not try the French onion soup, but I could tell it was not my husband's favorite. It came out with a pile of crispy onions on top, which are not his favorite, and he said it was hard to taste any soft onions in the soup. We were pretty full after eating just the starters and did not order any entrees, but I did order the mushroom parmesan risotto because I had been craving a good risotto for a few weeks. The consistency of the risotto did not disappoint, but once again, the cheese flavor (parmesan) could have been stronger for my taste. Overall, I do think we may be back to try an entree for a special occasion, and I may come back just for the bisque, but we'll see. There are many places to get good entrees and service that are less expensive, just not in Maricopa. read more

My wife and I had a dinner long discussion on this! We so wanted to give it another star but here it is. First off, Thank you Lori for seating us so quickly and Samuel for the great service! Top notch! These stars are all you! Having said that, the fondue was so incredibly greasy we couldnt get through 2 bites. It looks great but our gall bladders will remember us for this one. And the Linguini was really really over cooked and was very mushy by the time I was chewing on it. We loved the ambience. And even though we were seated next to the Service entry, we were impressed with atmosphere. We will definitely come again and try another dish and we are so very hopeful we can start adding stars to this fine restaurant! We still enjoyed our evening so Thank you either way! read more

I've been here several times through the years and have had 3 and 4 star experiences but never a 5. Well, after a year or so we decided to give it a try again. Mainly because we didn't want to drive too far for a decent meal. Complete fail. We sat at the bar. Husband has a beer and I had a glass of wine. We ordered a prime rib medium rare to share along with lobster Mac & cheese with lobster bisque starter. We'd just had an appetizer and a glass or wine at Oak & Fork wine bar prior so decided to share a meal. The bisque was delicious; the Mac and Cheese was good but overcooked and a bit mushy. The prime rib was without question, the worst I've ever had. It came out and was very rare. Not cool in the center, but cold. We each took a bite because with prime rib looks can be deceiving. It was tough (they need to buy higher quality beef), and nowhere close to medium rare. Cold and bloody rare. We sent it back. Instead of cutting a fresh piece that was medium rare, (because that's the point of prime rib), they cooked the same piece of meat more and now it was overdone and as tough as leather. A horrible experience. I've had way too many bad experiences and left feeling disappointed yet again. Two stars because the bartenders were attentive. If you want a nice dinner commit to driving out of Maricopa. Don't waste your money here. read more

This is fine in a nightclub, but a so called high end restaurant it doesn't cut it. So we were shown one of those tiny tables squeezed in between other tiny tables...no thank you. We wanted a booth, of which we could see several ready to go. Got a song and dance about why we couldn't be seated at one. We were sorry later that we stayed. Service was slow, and when our food did arrive, my order was wrong. I patiently waited, and waited while hubby ate. Isn't this special? When I got my meal, he was nearly done so I ate faster than I normally would. I was offered a complementary desert. That only took another 20 minutes, and was very small for the ridiculous price of it should I had paid for it. With a bunch of construction taking place here at Ak-Chin, this spot jas doubled up as both the Chop, Block & Bree as well as the temporary Agave Cafe. Prices on food and drink are reasonable considering it is located in a resort. Service was excellent and the place was clean. The bar area is welcoming and just a few steps from the lobby and casino. In the mood for some meat we made reservations at 5:30 pm Sunday at Chop, Block & Brew located at Harrahs AkiChin Casino in Maricopa. A bit of a drive (45 minutes from Mesa), but it is our home Casino. We arrived and were greeted and promptly sat. It was about 5 minutes before we got a glass of water and menus. You'll get no bread to munch on unless you're willing to pay for a basket of bread. My wife ordered a salad with chicken and an appetizer. I ordered the Prime Rib with garlic mashed potatoes and a side of Asparagus. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. We were pleased with the food and service once our order was placed. Would recommend for a nice evening out, just bring plenty of cash as the food is on the expensive side and everything is separate. read more

When we made our reservation they asked if it was a special occasion (which it was). when we were seated it was also acknowledged that it was a special occasion. After our dinner which was over $200 there was no complimentary dessert to share. Since it was the 4th of July we went out on the pool area to watch the fireworks and we're told to leave the area because the pool area was closed. This is one of the few "nicer" restaurants in Maricopa, and we love visiting for special occasions. Food is delicious, and service is top notch. They recently switched to an "a la carte" menu so that was a change for us. Personal favorite is the meatloaf which I would highly recommend. I was staying at the Ak Chin Casino and resort on April 14th 2022 and had dinner reservations at 8:15PM at the Chop Block and Brew for my wife and I. We arrived at 8PM and were told we had to wait till 8:15 even though there were at least 9 tables open that never got filled. They made my wife and I (Seniors) stand and wait the 15 minutes for no good reason. I reported this to my casino host who said he could do nothing about it. I told him the Host Katrina was also a little bit rude about making us wait. We will never go back to this casino nor this restaurant as this was the second time we forced to stand and wait even though there were tables open to seat us. Also the Host Katrina has zero customer service skills and should not be manning the front end. On the other had the food was great as were the appetizers. There are many very nice casinos in the valley along with some great restaurants, Like the Desert Diamond Casino that house Nineteen 86 a great steak house. Chop Block and Brew needs to better supervise their seating crew and have them learn some customer service skills. It was nearly closing time when we arrived for a late dinner yet they were ameniable, seated us quickly and DANG, if they didn't serve real quick. So that's a positive. Portions are quite large and shareable; which is what we did. We started with the Prime Rib Fondue. Blackened prime rib, Parmesan & Gruyère fondue, French bread crostini ($18.95). It was ok. A lot of meat. The description actually sounded tastier than what it was. Maybe it was our timing of coming in so late? And as it was late we decided to share our entree of the Seafood Scampi ($55.95); Scallops, shrimp, lump crab, lobster, linguine pasta. The table immediately next to us had some good looking items and was pleased with their selections. While we had a glass of wine each; shared our app and waited for dinner, ANOTHER restaurant patron came in (even later than us) and proceeded to scarf his salad and steak in lighting speed. I felt it a little high on pricing but hey, you're dining at a casino so there's that. I'd like to return for a good steak. They offer not only temps on your steaks but styles as well. read more

The food was AMAZING! Everything from the steaks to the sides were the best we've ever had. The staff was friendly, personable and attentive without hovering. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting, not stuffy or overly formal. We had delicious cocktails and great wine, and even our leftovers were the best tasting ever. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. (Admittedly, we had an early reservation, so that made it go smoothly.) This was a splurge for our anniversary, and I feel it was worth it. Ordered the Bone-In Ribeye Medium Rare and 1st time my steak came out Medium to Medium Well. Maybe closer to Medium Well. Three of our party had to send back their steaks to get redone. When my steak came back a 2nd time, it was still not Medium Rare but definitely Medium Well. Paying $60 for a steak that was not done to my liking was disappointing. I did not send it back for the 2nd time since it took so long to get the 1st one, I was ready to eat. I took my bf to Chop for his birthday and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the filet and it was perfect in every way. I asked for medium rare and it was on point. Great flavor and juicy!!
