We celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here last night and I was absolutely blown away. He and I had been here once before they expanded, and I can honestly say that they stepped up their already awesome game. Everyone got something different, so for my part, I tried the caprese bruschetta and their Sunday Sauce pasta. I paired my meal with their Ginger mule mockcktail. The bruschetta was soooo good. The bread was incredibly flavorful and the feta, tomato, and balsamic married perfectly. The bread was also the perfect texture - not too crunchy, not too soft. Fresh cheese and cherry tomatoes provided the most delicious topping! My pasta was also really good. Their meat sauce was so savory and delicious, and the noodles (flat, wide - I forget the name!) were cooked to perfection. I'm glad I also got a side of toast - it was a slight upcharge ($1.50) but worth it for the quality. My Ginger mule was kind of meh, unfortunately. I think I was expecting it to be sweeter, and it was pretty bitter. The service was beyond outstanding. Our server was attentive, answered questions, and made sure our water glasses were never empty. Huge props to him. After our meal, the owner even came over and checked in. Very nice guy. They even gave my boyfriend a slice of cheesecake for his birthday for free. The noise level wasn't awful, either, and that was very appreciated as a Deafie. I was able to see everyone at the table (we were in a rounded booth) and the ambient noise wasn't distracting at all. I was excited to try this restaurant after its remodel, especially given the excitement it generated within the community. As a small business, it's refreshing to see a restaurant bringing something different to Maricopa. With the city's rapid growth, the local dining scene is still catching up in terms of variety, so I had high expectations. I started with an Old Fashioned. The cocktail was very simple--bourbon, a maraschino cherry, and a dried orange garnish. While it wasn't a bad drink, it lacked the depth and balance I typically expect from an Old Fashioned. There was no muddled fruit or sweetness to round out the bourbon, making it feel a bit one-dimensional. For appetizers, I ordered the crab cakes, which were served with sliced onions--an unexpected choice. The pineapple-jicama slaw, however, was fresh and flavorful and complemented the dish well. I also tried the Caesar salad, which was made with spring mix instead of traditional romaine and arrived untossed. While creative variations can work, this preparation felt more unconventional than intentional. My entrée was the sirloin with Parmesan potatoes and asparagus. The steak was tougher than expected and could have benefited from more seasoning. The potatoes were slightly undercooked, and while the asparagus was fresh, the spears were quite large, which is more of a personal preference than a criticism. Overall, I felt the restaurant was trying a bit too hard to be different when a simpler approach would have allowed the quality of the ingredients and execution to shine. At its current price point, I don't believe the overall experience matches the value being offered. That said, I genuinely hope this restaurant succeeds. Maricopa needs more unique, locally owned dining options, and I believe this establishment has potential. With a few refinements to the menu and execution, I could easily see myself giving it another try. read more

Wow the place looks great! After the renovation this place now looks as great as the food is! Service is always top tier. The orange juice was delicious, couldn't get enough of the fries, all our food was great. My only "downside" if you will is my expectations of the stuffed French toast, don't get me wrong still delicious but when I think stuffed I wanna actually be able to see a layer of something in there and I do like my French toast more eggy?? I'm not sure if that's the right way to explain it but essentially not just cinnamon bread. Will we be back? 100%, easily best spot in town. read more

This has been one of my favorite restaurant experiences since I moved to Maricopa! Excellent food of high quality, great service, good prices, a menu with plenty of variety, and a nice atmosphere that could play to both a more casual brunch or a more dressed-up dinner out. We stopped in for brunch and were impressed with how attentive, professional, and courteous Janelle was. Despite the busy morning of customers, our drinks stayed topped off and we got all the help we needed. We tried the Chef's Creative Benny, Stuffed French Toast, and Roots Breakfast Platter, as well as trying their take on the Screwdriver and Espresso Martini cocktails. Everything was delicious! The brioche bread was toasted on the outside, soft on the inside, the eggs were fluffy, and the fruit was fresh. I cannot understate how good the bacon was. I've tried all sorts of bacon, but they did it right. Thick but not too thick, crispy yet not burnt, and just a hint of cherry to it. Fantastic. If you haven't been here and you live in Maricopa, it's time to pay Roots Eatery a visit! And if you can, ask for Janelle! She is a rock star and a valuable addition to this business. read more

This expanded restaurant really comes together with a long beautiful bar, many dining tables and a view into the kitchen. The food was excellent and cooked perfectly. Service was also excellent and the bar tender served up perfectly mixed drinks. Growing comes with issues that can and should be addressed. One small thing is that they didn't install hooks under the bar for hanging handbags. The first thing my Girlfriend does in any restaurant where we sit at the bar is look for hooks under the bar. Small thing but big improvement. More importantly is that for this new high end restaurant the wine list must be upgraded. The wine also needs to be served at the proper temperature. In Arizona you can't keep your red wine on the bar and serve it at room temperature. Hopefully management will correct things in time but for now we will be regular customers at this fine dining establishment. Now the best dining experience in Maricopa. read more

Roots eatery just had a remodel June 2026 and wow has this place changed. The atmosphere is so elevated and the space is bigger than it was before. We walked in not knowing it was remodeled and felt under dressed regardless the service was AHMAZING! All the staff were so friendly and big shoutout to ALLIE. Apart from feeling so welcomed she truly was the cherry on top. She was very attentive and we appreciate her kindness throughout the whole experience. The breakfast was good and the prices align well with the quality. The egg in the Benedict was cooked to perfection. We look forward to returning to enjoy more good food and company. read more

I've lived in Maricopa for 9 years & today was the first time I've experienced this restaurant. This lovely diner will now be a place we eat at on a regular basis. They have a sign in the restaurant that reads. "Bringing Families Back to the dinner table one meal at a time." It's happening hear! We had brunch & it was by far one of the best brunches we've had. You'll see from my review history we eat out often as an escape out of Maricopa & I don't want frugal people wasting their money for clicks. We were seated immediately. My husband and I tried Roots Eatery for breakfast this morning and it did not disappoint. We both had our own little French Press for our coffee. You can't beat French Press coffee...it was delicious! I ordered the Garden Scramble with Hashbrowns. It came with a lot of feta cheese, which I love. It was a great breakfast. My husband did confuse our waitress ordering a custom omelet, so maybe ordering off menu is not the best idea. Other than the confusion the food was great. The Service was friendly. We were in Maricopa visiting my sister in law & wanted to take her somewhere for lunch. We chose Roots based off of the great reviews. The food was terrific! I got the chicken sandwich & mixed fries (sweet potatoes and regular). My husband got French toast & loved that as well. The place is small and simple inside, however, the service was wonderful & we were able to sit and visit with our family for hours without being kicked out. We really appreciated that. I was excited to go to Roots ever since I moved to Maricopa because of the great reviews. I'm happy to say that it lived up to expectations! The restaurant is small but they have a nice patio option as well. Our server, Tyler, was wonderful - very attentive and personable. And the food was amazing! At our table we got the peppered shrimp pasta (delicious, spicy and filling) the flat iron steak (perfectly seasoned and cooked) and the special which was chicken fried steak. The mashed potatoes were honestly one of the best I've ever had and I need the recipe. I was too full to try the other sides but everything looked great. I am excited to come back as there are a ton of things on the menu that I want to try, and I love that they have specials! Also I need to try brunch! Well...we liked it so much we ate here twice in one day, once for breakfast and again for dinner. We were staying at Ak Chin Ang and wanted to try a local establishment. We are so happy we did. The Hubbs tried the Inside Out burger (it's a cheeses-stuffed burger) and they let him substitute Swiss cheese. I had the Brie and fig jam grilled sandwich. Both served with fries. This place is a hoot. Servers were totally on point with our family, making sure we were taking care of without being annoying. For where it's located in maricopa it was a great choice for non fast food. We got lunch not breakfast , the plates passing us by looked like good size portions. I ordered the Cesar w chicken and my companion order the chicken sandwich . The flavor in the chicken was tasty , the lettuce was fresh and the portion was generous . I could make 2 meals out of it . My friends sandwich had a great tasting pesto like sauce , the bacon was thick and well seasoned . The down side was the cooking of the chicken . The ventilation in the shop was not working very well . The high flashpoint made the cafe start to get smoky to a point my friend had to walk out for a few minutes to catch their breath . In turn both of us noticed the chicken was w a crunchier coating to the outside but the inside was tender and juicy ones you peeled off the overcooked crust. But overall we would rerun again to give them another try , especially for breakfast read more

Four of us dined here. The short ribs pasta was fantastic and would highly recommend!! The chicken Marsala was also delicious. However, it went downhill from there. I got the chicken Marsala with fingerling potatoes and the potatoes were both cold and they were so over salted they were inedible. When I told the waitress, her response was that she knew that and should have warned me so they could put less salt on them, which I found odd. My hubs got the seafood linguine and it was so incredibly spicy he could not eat it. When talked to the owner/manager he said the menu said it had pepper flakes so not his problem (paraphrasing). They really did not seem to care that our experience was bad. Really a disappointment because it seems like there is potential. But won't eat there again when the staff doesn't take pride in what they do and do not care when there is a legitimate concern. Our first time and it definitely will not be our last. Everything was fresh and flavorful and the staff was extremely helpful. We had dietary restrictions and the staff let us know that one of the dishes we ordered had bacon grease as part of the ingredients and allowed us to change our appetizer to accommodate our needs. This place is very small and always busy, so arrive early, and if you can't get in, keep trying different days until you do - IT'S WORTH IT!! The chef takes the time to personally prepare and serve each dish and his food in incredible!! He comes up with meals that are fresh, flavorful and different. The menu changes often, so I will not comment on any particular meal, but suffice it to say, you will not be disappointed.
