Went here after work one day, ordered off the bar menu in the bar, it was not bad. Brought my family back for birthday celebrations at lunch, it was sub-par and some just inedible or not worth eating. I expect when I pay the prices they taunt for the food to be correspondingly as good as the price. It was not. The appetizer (of which there were very few choices) we chose was calamari. It was like rubber O rings you would buy at a hardware store. French dip had very little meat and was salty. Halibut still had grease eeking out of it when you would take a bite. Staff came around just enough times to serve you but service was nothing over the top. Honestly, probably will not be back, even tho the bar bites were way better than their regular menu. Probably the best crème brûlée I've ever had! Bread and spread and Calimari were excellent. My friends enjoyed their favorites the 10oz tenderloin filets and my wife really liked her elk burger however she is really big on Hot Carbs so when the fries are served luke warm it really bums her out. I ordered the $75 bone in Ribeye which was fatty and not seasoned very well and I even had to salt in down. The meat was tough and almost hard to cut with my steak knife. Definitely not worth the $75 price tag. Beautiful atmosphere inside but it seems like they play the music so loud that everyone needs to talk above the music so it got extremely loud in there. Chop House is, well, we will NEVER go back. The food is way overpriced for what it is. Edible, but not anything to tell your friends about. Took my best friend there and we were definitely not impressed. Spent $200 and were TOLD to leave as they needed the table, we had been there for an hour and a half. Fairly typical for a supposed fine dining experience with wine, meal and desert. There were 5 empty tables near us. No, we weren't rude or loud or obnoxious. We are two 50 plus ladies. My friend tried it again with her family and said the food was terrible and the service worse. She, too, will never go back. Simply because we live in the Valley, in Alaska, doesn't mean that we do not know the difference between fine dining and diner food with a high price. Knowing that Settler's Bay has the same ownership explains why my husband and I no longer consider Settler's as a dining destination. On my family's adventure from Tucson, Arizona to Wasilla, Alaska we went to the chophouse for dinner with friends. I was told there's often live music playing, and when we were in the dining room, I didn't see live music, but it sounded like there was live music playing somewhere . My friend had gone to some sort of tasting event and was excited to enjoy their craft cocktail selection. I ordered a bourbon based drink, sour apple pie cocktail. It was outstanding without being overly sweet . We started with the appetizers of calamari, and multigrain bread a variety of spreads. At my friends recommendation I ordered the elk burger for dinner. It was served with french fries and it was pretty tasty. My fries came out just warm. I think that they were prepared and waiting on a hot plate. I know I'm very particular about my french fries and the french fries had a nice coating on them that generally I would like except they just weren't served hot. My two buddies that we went with both ordered a filet mignon. My husband went with his standard the ribeye. We all finished our plates and just luxuriated in a wonderful meal. As it was our third wedding anniversary, our friends had noted this on the reservation. As a result we were treated with a free dessert of crème brûlée. When it arrived it was served with fresh berries and it was just perfection. I just love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Our server was so helpful. My buddies ask several questions about the sauces that came with our dish. My friend had ordered a onion cheese pie starter, which we all had a little slice of it came with what we thought was an aïoli. When we asked our waitress about the sauce, she checked and quickly replied "they said oh that's just sour cream." Some things are pretty unbelievable because it tasted fantastic. I most certainly would want to return my next visit to Alaska. It was a very memorable experience. We concluded our meal with cheesecake based on Mike D's recommendation. Finally got to try this Lake Lucille steakhouse. I planned to try them out last summer during my birthday but they were closed for a private event. I made reservations online, for their Mother's Day brunch. The only hiccup we faced was, no one answered the phone twice, when we tried to let them know we were running 15-20min late. But as soon as the time of our reservation came around, the hostess called us and tried to scold us for not letting them know we'd be late....annoying! We get there and all is well. Plenty of seating. I get it, it's Mother's Day, it's busy, but Chop House wasn't slammed enough to be that petty over the phone. Nothing could ruin my vibe. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday and Chop House is absolutely stunning inside and out! Our server and all other employees encountered were phenomenal. It was a bougie vibe all around. We had lake front seating. Chop House even had a saxophone player in the corner playing all the millennial hits lol The buffet was perfect. Unlike every other buffet I've ever sought out, THIS ONE included chicken tendys and fries for my son. So grateful! Please keep doing that. Beautiful setting and nicely decorated restaurant. The bar is impressive. The service was terrible and extremely slow. While our waitress was very nice there were no busboys/busgirls to clear dishes there were tons of staff just standing around doing nothing. We had to wait for everything for a long time. While expensive, the food was flavorful and had great vegetarian and meat options. The daily soup was a great way to warm up after walking the grounds. The non-alcohol mocktail was tasty, however the alcohol mixed drink was difficult to drink. The drink tasted like nearly pure vodka and bitters with nothing else mixed in. Get an earlier reservation to enjoy a view without all the accidental eye contacts with other tables. The tots are special. Homemade and enduringly tasty, I think the only complaint will be the portion to price ratio. Eight tots for 15 bucks makes each tot nearly two dollars. I'd be crazy to order them again, right? Good wine and libation selection. They had a bourbon I'd never heard of before. They let me take a closer look. Our waitress was very accommodating. When we asked for a salad to share, she offered to split the salad. Both salads were put together with care and attention to detail. They were also VERY tasty. Substitutions were given with ease. I thought it was a 1 off thing so we decided to give it another try the next day and still the same thing which sucks because the view is beautiful and the food is actually pretty good. The food was delicious, and maybe our seasonal vegetables could have been slightly softer. The steak was excellent, and done to perfection. The cost was definitely $$$ so please take note. I was searching for a place to have dinner. Yelp suggested, that this place is good and that I should go. I went on a date and it was a good restaurant and the service was good. Joe took the time to go over the menu and the specials. We first had the bone marrow and it was good and the flavor was there to impress. I then had a salad with a champagne poppy seed vinaigrette which had a great taste. I had the pepper steak with carrots and mashed potatoes. My date, had Delmonico and it was a big piece of steak. She spoke highly of the food and clearly she enjoyed it. Then we had the Chocolate dessert and she loved it. It was enough chocolate and not over powering. Yes I get prices and cost are getting high but for 2 salads that's ridiculous. Went for dinner one evening and ordered the specials that weren't so special, tri tip was so bland its was embarrassing, sides were microscopic no value at all. Steak was probably the worst steak I've ever eaten at a restaurant ever they completely butchered the cook, along with adding no seasoning, and the steak was chewy. Wife ordered a steak salad and the steak was the same not sure if the cook was allergic to flavor and seasoning. Drinks that are 17$ for low quality Alcohol is embarrassing, beers that are 9$ when the same drink across the road is 4$ is sad. Save your money go to evertts or settlers bay. It was so bad, our frustrations turned into laughter. We ordered about 3 different times... she would take our order then come back to ask us again "if we were ready to order" and we would tell her again, but the best part, we orderd an appetizer, then she came back two more times to confirm if we really wanted that? It was the most exhausting dinner of my life. Then dinner came and the $16 side was forgotten (shocker) and we waited to eat our dinner until that came out. The food... eek. I never ever order scallops because they're so expensive but figured, what the heck, I'll splurge tonight and for $48 freaking dollars, I got three scallops. THREE. But the best part was, they came out so burnt, you could not cut them with a knife so I had to return the food and get a new plate and then the scallops came out raw and I just quit sending the food back. All in all, this restaurant is connected to a best western, so the name is misleading. A chophouse is supposed to be a yummy steak house and instead was equivalent to a hotel Denny's. Again, I apologize for leaving a bad review because it's never my intention, but the service and the food was laughable and for a $200 bill to leave hungry and annoyed, I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

Located in the Best Western Lake Lucille. I stayed here for the week for a business trip. Had dinner here twice. First time, I had a half dozen oysters on the half shell. They were huge snd delicious. Followed that up with cedar plank baked salmon with veggies and rice. Another delicious dish. Second night I had the $46 prime rib special. 14oz cut with mashed potatoes and veggies. The prime rib was tender and delicious. I went to Chop house for Valentine's Day. It was a pretty big let down. It was a $95 a plate. The food was bland and a BUFFET! I didn't even have the option of choosing from a menu and as a slope worker I've had just as good food up north on a holiday if not better honestly. Most of the food was all large scale food ordered from Charlie's produce (assuming). Higher end stuff but definitely not prepared well or worth the $240 dinner. I won't be back for a holiday again... I've had way better for the price at the Crows Nest or Club Paris for the same price. read more

Cathy was an incredibly gracious and attentive server. The chopanadas were a delicious appetizer. The entree portion sizes were more than generous. Dessert was a decadent carrot cake. Service was incredibly quick. We did not realize this restaurant was located in a Best Western and entered through the hotel. There is another official restaurant entrance on the side but we didn't see it at night in the snow. Friendly heads up for other new visitors like us. Every dish was beautifully composed down to the side salad, just showing the care and dedication coming from the kitchen staff.
