This place is Alaska through and through. A sports bar in a hotel tucked away in Wasilla AK. Family friendly with great service. The food: Portions are huge, the burgers are great, Mac n cheese isn't too shabby either. REALLY good fries. I hear they cut their own steaks in house but personally I haven't ordered one, the picture below was a friends and kinda tough. If you like an adult beverage, they've got a well stocked bar with local beers and a decent whiskey selection The French Onion Soup was really good. I had a terrible experience here. I've been to this pool bar before and was told by staff that if no one comes by to help quickly, it's okay to grab the pool balls and start playing. So I did exactly that -- nothing out of line. Suddenly, a worker that I'm familiar with named Joe , cussed me out, and kicked me out in front of everyone. Totally unprofessional and uncalled for. I wasn't being rude, I wasn't causing problems -- just following what I'd been told on previous visits. This. Place. Hits. I mean, and hard! Constantly driving back and forth from the Valley means that there's some options available for me. I live in small Eagle River so the options are limited with a few decent choices. Wasilla has some excellent little places if you keep your eyes peeled and know where to look. This restaurant is attached to the Grandview Inn and Suites. Fried pickles as an appetizer dipped in ranch was just salty enough to cure my craving and they were great. It's a pretty big order so perfect for sharing. The Mt Redoubt Lava burger has the proper amount of fire I think for people that don't enjoy things 5 * and up spicy. I snuck some fried jalapeños and I could probably eat a bowl of those alone. They were amazing! As a carnivore myself, I would have been remiss if I didn't get the 20 oz ribeye. I got fried potatoes and the brussels sprouts with bacon. This steak tapped me out. It was 3 meals in one for me. For $50 it was a great value. So we had a great service and food last time here. This time we got in very late and so I called ahead to get food ready so I can just pick up and come back to where we are staying, I called the number on the website of the restaurant and got the hotel front desk, woman was very rude, telling me, "you got the hotel, not the restaurant and you have to call their number!" I was like, " you can't transfer me downstairs?" I was told nope, here is their number! so called, and the guy who answered must have been in the middle of the bar, cause I had to end up yelling my order to him, after him saying what like 12 times! We tried the Pepper Jack Cheese wedges, and did the Cajun dry rub and the Honey habanero wings. They didn't let us down again! Great taste, great food.. But when I picked them up, the price was almost $20 more than on their menu. So I asked the really polite waitress who was helping me, she pulled a menu and said, "here are the prices." They had gone up, and no one had put down online they new prices. So paid for them and went back and ate an awesome dinner, very late at night. Pictures doesn't do this place justice. Everything is so nice and roomy. A lot of things to do besides eating and drinking. There's pool tables, a ton of dart boards just about everywhere, pull tabs, and I'm sure there's karaoke or other stuff..I just didn't ask or look further into it. Everything is updated and soo clean. The service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and didn't hover but made sure we were always taken cared of. The drink prices are more than reasonable. They have a great variety of different beers, shots and specialty drinks. Even Mocktails for those non drinkers. Families with minors are allowed to dine till 9pm only if accompanied by an adult. At 10pm no underage allowed at any time. I wish I took a picture of the sign, would've saved me the trouble. Oh well..just an FYI. The food is really good. We ordered the 10oz New York steak and everything was cooked just right. Their homemade compote butter that they put on the steaks is...incredible. The Brussel sprouts was really really good. The roasted potatoes were kind of bland but the beer cheese Mac and cheese was super delish! We also ordered the stuffed mushrooms for appetizers and it was...soooo good and soooo cheesy and sooo yummy. The portion size is very generous and you definitely get your money worth. Drinks are done perfectly. I ordered the old fashion and it was prepared the best I've ever had anywhere. The mojito had a ton of mint leaves which made it taste like zen tea lol. It wasn't too bad though. I got pretty buzzed off of the old fashion, so didn't order anything after..maybe another time. Overall..a very surprising experience and definitely worth it. We will be back and I hope you get to experience this place..even just to hang out with friends and have a good time. P.S: Great for watching sports with the buddies. This is one of those places that you want to keep a secret! But how can you deny others this hidden gem?! The Grill doesn't seem like much but the service and food never disappoints. My favorite? The seared ahi tuna salad is to die for! The orange ginger vinaigrette can be a little overpowering, so I recommend getting it on the side. Shhhh! Don't tell everyone about this place :) read more

What can I say, it's not the best but it doesn't suck. Take out is hit and miss, in my opinion. We did a large group take out order the other night, and all of our guests seemed to like their meals. I was not impressed with my salad, however my stepmom really liked hers. We eat here about every other month, it's constantly ok. Tip- get the dressing on the side if you order a Cesar wrap, it gets soggy fast. read more

This place has mice everywhere in the kitchen. I'm a former employee who was fired for pointing out the disgusting problems in the kitchen, mice, no hair nets, customers find hair in n there food all the time, they serve out dated food, they serve brown lettuce! They never clean behind there equipment, the kitchen manager is a dirty slob, who has no idea what good clean food even means! The General manager takes orders from the kitchen manager, these two are only there for a paycheck. They have no concerns for the customer! The fact that I was fired because I was pointing out these issues for weeks just shows how they don't care about the public, these are all reasons why the grill is losing business. I have been a chef for 22 years and have never been let go from any job. We have to keep people from eating there, someone will get sick. read more

If this place is serious about making it in the restaurant industry especially in a growing town like this, service needs improvement big time.. Customers first!!! We've been traveling throughout Alaska for two weeks and the biggest highlight for us other than the landscape is the kindness of the Alaskan people but this place we walked in and walked back out. It's a big place and plenty of seating with only two customers so we decided to get a center table since the two seater tables were flushed up against the wall by their big screen tv's, so it was uncomfortable to sit. The bar tender asked if we had more in our group, which we said no and explained that the smaller seats against the wall by the TV's are awkward to sit at but he insisted that we move.. remember this place was empty.. we then just moved.. then he said oh I cannot have my hydro flask with me even though it was empty. I explained that it's empty and Intentions were to ask for ice and water to go as we've been driving long distance. My husband wanted coffee and he looked at us like who drinks coffee at 11am, it's way past breakfast and that he had to put up a pot of coffee. Everything about the approach was unfriendly. The prices are sky high, the portions aren't the best, the place smells kinda like to pee. They made me a great margarita though, so I'd only return for the drinks. We had to dispute with the owner and waitress over the $5 refills on regular soda, like it was for the margarita. Our family has eaten here off and on over the years and it just never made much of an impression on us. We decided to give it another shot as we checked out the menu online and it looked pretty good. My husband ordered the prime rib rare, and that's what he got! Hard to find sometimes. The presentation was really nice. My son ordered the Mac and cheese, huge quantity, he will be enjoying leftovers today! I have a nightshade allergy so I was very excited to see a seasonal baked chicken dish that came with roasted veggies and mashed SWEET potatoes! It was half a chicken, beautifully presented in a cast iron pan. I too will be enjoying the leftovers from this dish for my lunch today. Our server was very attentive and kept our drink glasses full. This is the strangest thing to be putting Wasilla, AK on the yelp map!! If you happen to be traveling here from L.A., which is what I did, then I hope you find my reviews helpful. We went for Happy Hour on Tuesday so we could try a few half priced appetizers. Monica, who was great, was our server. We go the AHI, Steak Strips and a stuffed Mushroom that we saw on the menu in the room but not on the menu at the restaurant. We asked about it and she went to ask the chef. "He can do it", she said. "For happy hour price?" My sister asked. "Yes." well, of course after our martini and beer each, we didn't look at the receipt close enough and now that I'm home in L.A. I noticed the mushroom was full price!! The other 2 apps were half price, but, what?!?!? It was good, but it wasn't $12.95 good! The ahi was the star, we gobbled it up before I had a chance to take a nice shot. half price was $7.98. The Cajun Prime Strips were $5.48 half price. The belvedere martinis were $9 and tasty. The Chardonnnay glass(es) were $4.95 each. And the Alaskan White was $5.00. They have a pool table, separated spaces, nightly specials and karaoke.
