Small restaurant with good BBQ. This restaurant was smaller than I expected it to be, but the food was good. I ordered the pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich with jalapeno mac and cheese. The sandwich could have used a little more cheese to really be called a grilled cheese, and the mac and cheese was borderline too spicy, but overall it was very good. My wife ordered brisket with coleslaw and a cornbread biscuit. The biscuit and cornbread were good, but she said that the brisket was a little tougher than the likes. Service is excellent. Place is clean. Most of the food isn't that great. The prices were comparable to other places in town. The ribs tasted (and looked) as though they had been reheated from a day or two prior. They were very tough and a bit gritty. The pulled pork was extremely gamey for some reason. The cornbread was like taking a bite out of a piece of chalk. The jalapeño cheese sausage was very bad. I can't even come to terms with how to describe it. The brisket frito pie was full of fatty chunks and soggy by the time it hit the table (which the wife hated). That being said there are a few bright spots! The turkey was amazing and the brisket potato skins were great with the BBQ ranch. The BBQ sauce is real good too. As a long time BBQ cook and fan I have to put this place in a category with dickeys. This is a hidden gem in Lubbock. Located in mission plaza shopping center. Locally owned restaurant with fantastic barbecue! I had the fried bologna sandwich which was great. My wife had the 2 meat Bbq with jalapeño sausage and sliced brisket that was cooked perfect. The sides were really good and they make their own BBQ sauce which had a hint of sweetness and bold flavor! If you are looking for some good BBQ in Lubbock then this is a great place to go. The service was also good. Corrie took great care of us and never let our drinks get less than half way. Overall this was a great experience! Also get there early for lunch because they fill up fast. All I can say is OMG! Started out with the spicy corn nuggets with a barbecue ranch dipping sauce. Spicy oh yes! But offset wonderfully by the corn which was just sweet and wonderful. Shared the sliced beef brisket and pork ribs with my friend. Plenty to eat.The brisket is the best I have ever ever had. Baked potato salad? Well you have to try it. It was phenomenal. Corrie was amazing! She offered great suggestions for our first time. The pinto beans were flavorful with a great kick. Not too spicy, just right like baby bear. The meat was cooked well and flavorful. I did the bend test with the brisket because I saw it on tv and it passed. The pork was nice and juicy. Best Texas barbecue in town!! The brisket was the classic Texan style, perfectly charred-outside and tender inside. The sides were also fantastic. The best potato salads I have ever had, cold, savory, with nice little pieces of bacon. Fried onion rings were coated with a nice layer of bear batter. Pinto beans had a hit of spiciness which brightened the bland beans. They did offer us free coolers light, but we brought our own corona since it's a byob restaurant. Waitress, Sierra, was cool, very efficient. The owner Sean came to talk to us and he was very sincere with his food and restaurant. Wow. This place serves GREAT barbecue. We had a party of 7 on graduation weekend at TTU. We started with appetizers consisting of fried okra and spicy fried corn nuggets. All of our entrees came out shortly after finishing the appetizers and were perfect. Everything tasted great and was served at the perfect temperature. An added bonus - they served free beer! My personal favorites were the sliced brisket, fried okra (breading was good and okra still had some bite) and pinto beans (some good meat and flavor in there). The cornbread was moist with a little kick. Turkey and sausage were good and others liked the potato salad and coleslaw. I wasn't a big fan of the bbq sauce.
