We ate here for lunch today and were very impressed with the taste and quality. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful, the baked potato salad was delicious and exactly what I hoped for. Let me just say the corn bread was amazing. I haven't had really good corn bread since my work mom from my old job made me some. I regret not asking for some to go! The brisket and the chicken were smoky and super tender, and the bbq sauce just topped it off really well. The green beans were delicious as was the fried okra (first time trying it). This is the BEST BBQ I eaten in years! The brisket is absolutely the BEST! It literally falls apart its so tender. My husband said the ribs are fantastic. They are big, he could only eat 2 of the 4. A lot of good food for a very very reasonable price. Don't judge this restaurant by the strip mall location, dated decor and lack of people standing in long lines waiting for BBQ. Our group of four were very happy with our meal and when the check came were pleasantly surprised how fair the prices were for the quality and amount of food. The ribs and both types of brisket were both very good as was the chicken. Basically you can't go wrong with any of the meats. The place looked cleaned even though we were in the last hour of their business. Food: The food was fantastic! We ordered the Pulled Pork Fries as an appetizer. I got the BBQ Frito Pie entree and my girlfriend got the Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese entree. The portions are big and we left very full. Great quality food! I reread my post and perhaps I am being unfair in some way. I love and appreciate Texas BBQ. This is not a BBQ restaurant. And perhaps I should judge on what they do. But they advertise as a BBQ establishment as their name implies. On that basis, the restaurant falls short of the mark. But want\need to come back next to give them another chance by ordering one of their specialties which may or may not include BBQ. So rely on this review only on the quality and authenticity of its BBQ. Nothing more. I decided to move this paragraph to the front of the post for that purpose. Chopped and Sliced is not your typical texas BBQ establishment. Fair to say they are a restaurant that features BBQ presented in different ways. Knew I was in for a different experience when I was seated and provided a menu- not your typical BBQ experience. The BBQ by the pound section of the menu was found on the back of the menu. Truly surprised at the de-emphasis. The featured menu included some innovative options I truly want to try. But I am a BBQ lover and wanted to sample the best BBQ restaurant in Lubbock according to my fellow Yelpers. And I wanted to sample the pitmasters chops. So I order three samples of BBQ meat by the pound. And then I was told I can not order the end cuts on the fat side of the brisket. I get what I am served. Sorry. That is one star off. A restaurant, any restaurant, should try to make its customers feel wanted. I would be willing to pay more. But instead, the waitress returns to me after placing my order to explain I will essentially get what I am served. I am the first person served today. The three meat meal is nicely plated with sauce already drizzled in equal proportions on the brisket, turkey, and pulled pork. I prefer my brisket without sauce and will add only if the meat needs flavor. But it does look pleasing. The pulled pork is not hot indicating it was not pulled off a pit any time recently. It is also dry and a bit chewy. And flirting with cold. The turkey shares the same faults as the pulled pork. Did not finish. The brisket was positively cool. And dry. And without flavor. I apply more sauce before giving up the search for a BBQ experience. read more
