Rice Bowl chicken and falafel. Yellow rice, broccoli, corn, and white sauce.
Chastity W.

Very convenient location. Friendly staff. Came for lunch around noon. No wait. They gave me fresh food. It tasted ok. I was unhappy with the falafel. It was cooked too hard and lacked flavor. Overall it was just ok.

Slim pickings for sides when they aren't serving what they advertise.

After eating here, I get why this place has fairly high reviews. What I don't understand is how this place operates itself. I came in on a Wednesday on May 24th at 3pm. They were out of a lot of things. Like 60% of what they offer. When the server offered me eggplant, there wasn't even any eggplant in the steamer! While some options I would not have ordered to begin with (like cauliflower), its annoying to think that so many items are out. Because I was nearby the area the next day, I went at 8pm and they still had 40% of stuff missing. I can understand that with a small staff that not every single item is going to be in full stock, I question whether this a management issue, or they don't care after lunch time? I ended up getting a gyro rice bowl. Lots of rice, a decent amount of meat, and skimpy amount of sides. With that said, the sides were delicious! The garlic sauce, spicy green sauce were great as well. They also offered a mango habanero, which was mango puree with specks of habanero. I appreciate the effort but the sauce could have been more harmonized in its heat. The gyro meat had plenty of savory flavor, but there wasn't much seasoning to it. The rice was good, but I thought it could have been a little more fragrant for my own taste. Overall, it satisfies and I ended up woofing it down after my workout with a smile on my face.

Small little fly in the wall venue with some really great falafel!

I ordered online because I was in the mood for gyro and rice. The portions are very generous, and they don't skimp out on the meet. I like my food spicy, so I will have to get more of the red sauce next time. Everything tasted fresh.

I went for the lunch and enjoyed! I order the chicken rice bowl with yellow rice, chicken, and three topping. I liked that the to-go box had a separate section for the toppings. I ordered the roasted broccoli which was well seasoned (may be salty for some). I'd probably make 2/3 of my selection the broccoli next time. I also had the house salad which was a mix of cucumber, tomato, and onion. Last, I had the couscous salad. It didn't have much flavor. It had chunks of bell pepper in it I believe. The server was really nice and made a great recommendation to mix the sauces! I did the white sauce with a little garlic and red spicy. The location was clean and aesthetically pleasing. I loved the succulent features on the tables. There's seating inside and outside.

Falafel Rice bowl

I got the falafel rice bowl with onions and mushroom, chickpeas, and hummus. I was mostly impressed with how the onions and mushroom were sautéed and caramelized perfectly. Another thing I noticed was that the falafels were crunchy on the outside but easy to chew on in the side which made it much easier to eat and actually enjoy. Aside from any of the specifics, the meal was just absolutely mind-blowing delicious. Definitely the best halal food I've ever had, although very pricey.

Chicken rice bowl and some cute cacti decor.

I wouldn't even really compare this place to the Halal Guys because it's more than just your meat, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes. You have the option to get veggies and other toppings in addition to your choice of either the yellow or lentil rice. I picked chicken as my protein and then opted for brussel sprouts, red potatoes, and the onion/mushroom mix. I wish the brussel sprouts were actually roasted like the sign said they would be, but the other veggies added some good flavor and texture to my bowl. The white sauce really ties everything together, so don't hesitate to get it over the entire bowl. The employees were very sweet and asked me how if I enjoyed my meal at the end since they knew it was my first time. I told him about my brussel sprout dilemma and they were very receptive. I walked out of there having spent $9 and had 3/4 of my bowl leftover because it's a very filling meal. Oh and the decor is super cute with succulents on the tables and very clean white tables.

Falafel Rice Bowl (Yellow Rice, Couscous Salad, Roasted Red Potatoes, Butter Curry Chickpea, Pita, White Sauce, & Hot Sauce)
Leelé G.

Got the yellow rice, falafel, roasted potatoes, chopped couscous salad, butter curry chickpea, pita, and white sauce with hot sauce as well. Not the best I've tasted if I eat them all together for some reason. It's better eating them on their own?? The falafel was a bit overcooked for me but everything else was okay.

For as long as I can remember, my family and I have been visiting this Mediterranean institution on…read morePolk Street. Afrah is THE place to be for Mediterranean food - before Greenville Ave became Arab central, before there was anyone, there was Afrah. A beautiful, airy restaurant with gorgeous seating, a bustling dessert case, ice cream center and so many treats to offer under one roof. Afrah is to the Muslim community in Richardson as a glove is to a hand. It truly is a one stop shop for all your nostalgic cravings, and it would be a grave injustice on my part if I didn't stop by here and sing praise to one of the most loved Mediterranean restaurants in the DFW area. We visited here recently for an iftar buffet experience and were very very happy with the food we got. The buffet line was running smoothly, from staff working diligently to hand everyone a tray with napkins, plates and cutlery already set for you. Waiters were going around the massive dining hall clearing plates, making sure everyone had what they needed, seating patrons and asking if everything tasted good. This establishment runs like a literal well oiled machine and I am so impressed. The food was as always out of this world. Carefully prepared menu that satisfies everyone's taste buds. A good selection of classic cold appetizers like the baba ghanoush, hummus, and variety of salads. Always including something unique for a typical Middle Eastern flare. Hot lentil soup available with bowls carefully placed in the vicinity. So many different types of kebabs and freshly made hot pita bread being replaced like clockwork. The buffet had many of my favorite classics like Shawarma meat, beef kebab, chicken kebab. Lamb, chicken stew, baked chicken, everything was present in abundance. They even had salmon which I deeply appreciated as a seafood lover. My only complaint is the food wasn't hot enough which can be annoying with a buffet that is serving so many people during a busy time like Ramadan. Everything tasted absolutely phenomenal and when I returned for dessert, I was greeted with six different types of sweets from all over the world. That's the thing about this place. There's always something for everybody. The dining hall was bustling with not just Muslim patrons, but also a lot of American white patrons who equally enjoy the food here as much as we do. Inclusions of dishes like shrimp pasta, fried fish, chocolate mousse, and other fan favorites is a humble nod to non-Arab customers who love to frequent this place as much as we do. If you are looking for a quality Mediterranean experience look no further than this long-standing Mediterranean Haven. Thank you for nourishing the community.

It seems like a father and son combo behind the counter so thankfully I came in at a slow time, otherwise the food might have taken longer. While the shawarma only had the meat, pickles, and garlic sauce, it was probably one of the best shawarma I've had in the area. Hummus was delicious as well. Hoping to order from here more often!

The koobideh itself was good, definitely tasty, but more in the "solid" range rather than something that really stands out compared to other spots I've tried. I also had the mast o khiar. Super fresh, really flavorful, and a big portion. I like to eat it with the bread and alongside the koobideh, which might not be traditional but I love it. I also tried the tahdig gheymeh that my friend ordered. First time having it and I'm glad I did. The rice had a nice crunch and the stew was flavorful. Not sure I'd order it normally, but worth trying. The restaurant was pretty quiet during lunch, just one other table, so service was quick and smooth. I left full and satisfied. Overall, a good spot with generous portions and solid flavors. Not the absolute best Persian food I've had, but still a place I'd come back to when I'm in the area.

The entire outside of the restaurant is lined with tables so you can dine there if you like. The sign on the door indicates they take Covid seriously. Masks are required, and only 5 people are allowed inside at a time. I could only see two customers at the counter as I peered through the front door, so I waited outside until I would have a chance to order. Above the pastry display case was an electronic menu in Arabic and English that flashed through several screens too quickly for me to read. On the side of the drink refrigerator was a menu board in large print. The guy behind the counter was also nice enough to hand me a trifold menu I could take with me. There were lots of choices, but honestly I already knew what I wanted. I had actually been on my way to a different Arabic bakery to get some fresh khubz (Arabic flatbread), when I saw this place. I had been to Albaghdady's old location and figured I would give it a try again. The khubz is baked fresh daily. It is massive in size. I'm talking larger in circumference than an XL American pizza. I ordered a small bag of five not realizing that they would be this huge. As soon as I got in the car, I was tearing into the soft, fluffy saucer of gluten and shoving it in my mouth as I drove home. I just couldn't resist! I also ordered what they call an "Arabic shawarma" and some baklava and another pastry for my husband. The sandwich was far from what I would classify as an Arabic shawarma. It didn't resemble or taste anything like I had eaten growing up in the Gulf Arab states. This was more like an Iraqi sandwich. The flatbread is thicker and fluffier with pinched ends. The meat inside was thick slabs of beef. There were also these vinegary pickles. The sandwich was still quite tasty and I would definitely recommend trying it especially if you are looking to sink your teeth into something other than the standard American burger or tired club sandwich. I'm not a fan of filo, so I didn't eat the baklava. My husband devoured both pieces (one walnut and the other pistachio) and said they were delicious. I did order two pistachio and hazelnut dessert rolls. They looked delicious with the dark brown hazelnut wrapped around the bright green pistachio filling, but the hard rubbery texture was an absolute turn off. I think they used dates to sweeten it and hold it together. I couldn't get over that hard rubbery texture though. It didn't seem right even though I had never tried this sweet before. I couldn't do a second bite and spared my husband the misery by throwing his piece away too. This is a decent place that has some interesting and tasty items on the menu. I might be back because of its very convenient location, but I would probably get something different on the menu next time.

This was a fabulous adventure! We took a few hours to visit Sarahs Market and ate lunch at their S Grill. The market is very small, but every inch of its space is very special. First, we found our way to the back corner and sat at a tiny countertop with only 4 chairs. The counter faces an open top grill, and you're able to talk/ watch the chefs make the food. The menu is limited and pricey! We ordered one steak kabob ($26.00). The steak was served medium rare, very juicy, on top of a long rice (similar to rice pasta), and it was coated in a delicious seasoning completely unfamiliar to us. It came with roasted tomatoes & purple onion. You can select from several sides, we picked the hummus. It was a huge portion, enough for 2 people. The chef was so pleased to have us and was very impressed that we were there to learn. He gave us many "generous" sized samples of the sides and sauces they offered. Everything was made in-house, from scratch with fresh ingredients from their grocery store. It was a wonderful experience! The bakery aspect of this location is a small glass display case full of sweets, like macaroons, cheesecake baklava, and more. Most of them were new to us. The pastry chef gave us a few samples that had us buying a bunch to take home, lol. We strolled through the grocery store part of the market before leaving and bought a few items we already enjoyed. The difference was buying things that are made in-house, like pita bread. You can definitely see, smell, and taste the difference. A FIVE STAR review for their authenticity, hospitality, and delicious fresh food. If you're in the area you've got to try the Grilled Kabobs.
