Chop't is expensive and crowded during the lunch rush, but it's tasty and can be a healthy lunch option. The salads are very large. They have several featured combinations, which you can customize however you'd like. You can also design your own salad. I'm not a fan of the bread that comes with the salads--it tastes like paper. There are tons of dressing options, including low-fat and low-cal choices. Personally, I don't love the chopped aspect of the salad--I think it's more difficult to eat. I have a hard time getting the little pieces on my fork--I usually end up resorting to using a spoon, especially when I get towards the moister bottom portion. I like that I can go to Chop't and order a tasty & filling lunch that isn't a fat bomb. I also really appreciate the wealth of nutritional info available on Chop't's (wow, that's a lot of apostrophes) website. I know, I know, 5 starts for a quick salad bar...you're out of mind! See the logic. The description states Woohoo! As good as it gets! For a quick bite, that's healthy and amazingly delicious...Chop't is as good as it gets. I don't mind the Woohoo part either as I could definately grab a bite here everyday. The salads are amazing and they have a ton of selction between lettuces, toppings, and even prearranged salads. Thus far, my favorite is the Monterrey but I've made it a point to try several...though I always wind up back at the Monterrey. The soda is completely organic (not that it's healthy, but it is better...I like the Ginger Ale) and right now the only place I will drink soda, and the chicken has recently been purchased from a free range, organic farm...like I said, as good as it gets. All of this can be yours in a delicvious salad or wrap for under $10. Furthermore, they have a rewards system. The 3rd salad / wrap you get a free dessert, the 6th a free drink and the 10th...the whole enchilada is free, baby! So for all the haters below, and I'm surprised there are so many considering everyone I know thinks Chop't is nothing less than amazing. Consider your options. You could eat McDonalds for lunch, or any other quick bite chain, or get a delicious salad / wrap that sacrifices nothing to flavor, provides fresh ingredients, practices progressive ideals, and all under $10. Chop't is my go to salad place.Honesty don't think I've had a bad experienced at chop't and I don't think I've tried a salad that wasn't good. They have so much variety at the difficulty is deciding what you want in the salad. Plus you can get any salad as a wrap. I absolutely love the sea salted caramels and what a deal 2 for .99 cents? It's such a steal for such an amazing treat. I'll admit it can get a bit pricey depending on the salad ingredients but your paying for the quality and its always fresh. This place is crazy. I was out in DC for a week training and this was right next to one of the offices I was working out of. We decided to stop in for lunch in the mood for a great salad. The line was always ridiculous but they move fast. It's kind of overwhelming for a first timer. You pick what kind of salad you want and one part of the line puts it all in a bowl, then you move over to another part of the assembly line and they chop it with a crazy large knife. They move so fast you barely have time to think so I definitely recommend going in with a plan of attack. I had no idea what I was getting into so needless to say, I was like a deer in headlights. I felt so overwhelmed when I was done. The salad was good. I had the Greek, it's not the best I've ever had but it was fast and good enough. I finally had a chance to try out Chop't prior to a Living Social event nearby downtown. Living in Fairfax County, I'm stuck to Saladworks and Sweetgreen for the "make your own"/gourmet salad choices, and that's not bad, but after trying Chop't, I have to admit that I wish there were one closer to home! In addition to the largest selection of toppings I've ever seen for their "Customer Craft" salads, their prices are also lower compared to Sweetgreen, and IMHO you receive a larger quantity of salad and toppings. For $8.99, I chose the Palm Beach Salad with Shrimp, which is very similar to an $11.99 shrimp-containing salad I usually order at Sweetgreen. The Chop't version was packed with delicious shrimp, avocado, hearts of palm, tomatoes, and I of course added fresh jalapenos for Spice Fiend approval. Very comprehensive selection of dressings, from creamy and rich, to vinaigrette-based to their "Spa" dressings which are low/non-fat/low-cal and delicious, too (I had the Spa Balsamic). Another creative aspect of Chop't was how they live up to their name in the preparation of your made-to-order salad and chop your salad right in front of you to mix all of the goodies together before stuffing it into a bowl for you to enjoy. They also serve your salad with a couple of pieces of "flatbread," which I felt was the only lackluster element of my visit. The flatbread was literally flat, cold, droopy tortilla-like bread. I would have preferred the sliced multigrain bread or warm rolls from Sweetgreen and Saladwords, respectively. Walk-the-line salad? What a brilliant idea! Hailing from Cincinnati, we're all about this style of restaurant, but to see it incorporated with healthy food piqued my interest. Not only does Chop't offer a healthy salad, but there is no high-fructose corn syrup in the dressings, and all meats are free range. Walking inside, I was greeted by a gigantic menu on the wall. There were at least a dozen "house specialty" salads to choose from, or you could make your own from a list of ingredients. I imagine you could eat here every day for a year and have a different salad. I opted for one of the specials, the Cobb, which included chicken, avocado, bacon, crumbled egg, crumbled bleu cheese and tomato over iceberg and romaine lettuces. I chose Sweet & Smokey Chipotle dressing, which was flavorful but not heavy; perfect for a hot summer day. All the ingredients are put on a cutting board, then diced up (chunky, medium, or finely; your choice) with a giant curved knife. Drizzled with dressing then put in a bowl, the Chop't container is perfect for both eating in, on the go, or taking leftovers with you. The Cobb was $9.00 for a very generous portion. I had to take some of it with me! Also, I enjoyed the Boylan fountain drinks, especially the black cherry and cream soda flavors. This was a delicious option for beverages instead of the standard Pepsi or Coke. It would be wonderful for Chop't to add a location in Cincinnati, Ohio. This Chop't is very similar to most other chop'ts. I prefer Sweetgreen over Chop't because their produce seems a lot fresher. However, I do like the Boylan's sodas and the spa dressing that Chop't has (and they deliver). Although I'm a salad lover, I just can't for the life of me figure out why people want their salads this chopped up. If you ask though, you can get them to just toss it (which I do because I like to chew my own food). Anyways, this place is close to my hotel so I found myself here more than once this week just because of proximity. The lettuce is fresh enough but the toppings leave a lot to be desired - they don't have regular red nor white chopped onions (just pickled) or carrots. The name reflects the fact that they chop up your salad so it is easier to eat (which I found was helpful), but this is not enough to distinguish Chop't from other salad bars in the area. The price and service style are similar to Cava's, which is located right across the street. I would say that Cava is more generous with topping portions than Chop't which plays a huge role when I am deciding between the two. I've also never run into a huge line at Chop't which can be helpful if you're in a rush, but also speaks to the fact that they're not as popular. I usually choose Chop't over Cava if I want to eat something a little healthier. It is tempting to load rice and other mix-ins into the dish at Cava, but Chop't has more basic salad ingredients that have not been sautéed or mixed with sauces. Overall, OK food, good service.
