I used to enjoy, Chopt when they first opened. But this is just saddening. I was super excited about getting the Palm Beach Salad that I have been craving for a couple days now. When I first entered, I was not greeted, which is something I never take as a good sign. When I ordered, I was used to them chopping the salad. Im sure this is probably a change due to Covid. Which is understandable. The salad was pre chopped which isn't the real issue; the salad leaves were wilted. I didn't notice until I was already in the car. I'm super disappointed with the salad as a whole. The chicken was super soggy and had no taste. Had I not been starving, I would have thrown the whole salad away. I placed an online carryout order for the Sweet Summer Cobb Salad, which features fresh peaches and sounded delicious. The salad was good in so many ways. The agave dijon vinagrette was a delightful dressing. The "sweet and smoky chicken" had a nice bite to it. All of the ingredients were fresh and crisp. So why did I only give it a "could've been better" two stars? Those ballyhooed fresh peaches? Yeah, they never made it into the bowl. read more

I had never been to Chopt before when I stopped by to grab a salad to-go for lunch one Saturday afternoon. Just like any fast casual establishment, such as CAVA or Chipotle, you can build your own meal or order off the menu! I decided to try the Palm Beach salad and added beets and shrimp. The staff member piled on the toppings before handing my salad to another staff member who then used a large curved knife to chop up and toss my salad with my choice of dressing - I went with the standard olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My salad came out to just over $11, which is actually a good deal considering how HUGE the salad was. I happened to be starving (I had a packed morning of spin class and a project meeting) so I ate the whole thing but it could easily be split into 2 meals if you wanted to save some for later! Chopt offers a simple, fast casual-style concept while still embracing healthy eating. I love Chopt and when I was in college in DC I used to frequent the one near campus. Today I decided to get my favorite wrap since I was close by. Upon entering I was not greeted for one. Next I was asked what I wanted and started listing toppings. The lady just acted like she didn't want to be at work and I get it . Work is exhausting. At the end I asked for it to be put in a wrap in which she stared at me and stopped chopping my salad. She seemingly became upset because I didn't make that clear at the beginning of my order. I stated she never asked me which one I wanted (salad , wrap, or warm bowl). She continued that I should have told her and made my wrap anyway. I expressed that she should have asked at the beginning of my order and stated that wraps are made at the end. She with attitude said no. As I sit here and eat she continues to look at me angrily. Chopt. Ah, it's a chain and writing reviews of a chain is sort of like repeating yourself over and over and over and over.... yeah, you get the idea. If you haven't been to Chopt then I hope my review will guide you on what to get and what you can get. I, in no means is an expert at this place. So if you're hoping for me to go through every single option...it isn't going to happen. It's been a while since I've been to a chopt, but it was something that I wanted to check out considering that I enjoyed my first time experience. This time around I ordered the Crispy Chicken Ranch Salad. I wanted that chicken, and the ranch was an nice flair to it. The thing about Chopt is that you can choose any type of greens that they have and customize it. I think it was pretty daunting with so many people behind you in line that you sort of just have to know what you want when you get to the front. Or...alternatively you can just order it and just pick it up which I would highly, highly recommend. They place your order on the back on a shelve and you can just go and pick it up. It takes the stress out and you don't have to worry too much about it. The salad was great and I would highly suggest it if you're torn in what to get. I got it with the mixed greens and added the chimichurri ranch to it. You can also add other dressings if you want, on the side or in the salad. I believe they pretty much mix it in for you as default unless you ask otherwise. The biggest takeaway though if you decide to come here though, is that I would definitely recommend you to get here before or after the lunch rush because this place gets extremely busy. read more

Chop't is by far my favorite salad shop.  Their variety, the fresh ingredients, and their dressings, are all so good.  Their dressings in particular are nearly addictive.  They each have a unique taste, and are made much better than most dressings. Chop't in particular has all the standard salads, but then has some really creative Regional styles or variations of the traditionals. They had so many cool looking salads. Somehow I picked the one that wasn't. I picked a salad off the menu and the guy threw together my ingredients. It was passed to someone else to pack into a bowl and I was done. The other 4 people I was with, not to mention the swarm in front and behind me all got their salads chopped, and added in extra items. What did I do wrong? I really didn't know what was going on and no one offered to help. I get their busy and it's the lunch rush but sheesh, clearly I missed some important step somewhere. Good but overpriced salads. I got the Santa Fe salad and added chicken (sidenote: it bothers me when places charge extra for chicken, it's chicken. So I'm already paying $8 for lettuce and then you charge another $2 for chicken. What a rip off). Anyway, the place was packed but the line moved fast. There are a lot of salads to choose from. You pick one, tell the person behind the counter and they stuff all the ingredients in the bowl and add your dressing. Then they dump everything out of the bowl and chop it up. Didn't want to eat what they had for lunch today at work so I opted to get a salad and here I am. I order the Texas Po' Boy salad with ONE modification and they got the order all wrong! I used their app so I can pick up and go! I had the time to sneak away and while doing so I discovered that my salad was made wrong. They left out the most important ingredient next to the lettuce . . . which is the chicken! I called the store and spoke with the manager and explained to him what happened. I opened my salad, poured the dressing, and took a few bites to discover the salad was made WITHOUT CHICKEN! I don't know how that happen, but how do you miss one of the main ingredients in the salad. It was not an add-on or substitution; it's one of many ingredients in the salad. After speaking to the manager, he laughed that the chicken was missing. I told him "sir, you don't get to laugh," and what is not funny is that I have to pay another establishment for food that I just paid for. He told me to come back, but no I can't. When I had the free time to come there, I did that now you want me to come back? Nah... I'm good and I cannot! I later learned that the other order that I picked up as well via the app was wrong too! She ordered kale greens INSTEAD of romaine lettuce. Was everyone having a bad day today or still sleeping? Reading is surely fundamental. I really like Chop't and it's my favorite salad shop! But this location, will no longer get business from me again. I need staff that is efficient and professional that can do their job with care! I mean, how did you forget the main ingredient! Fresh, fast, friendly, delicious and with endless combinations. First visit to this chain and left wishing there was a franchise out in Montgomery County. Not only was the food great, but there are so many options. To put it in perspective, when I go to Chipolte, I have options but not THAT many, so I pretty much always get the same thing. And then I get tired of Chipolte and want to go somewhere else.... ...with Chop't, there are so many variations of toppings, meats, dressings, cheese and vegetables that it would seriously take a long time to get tired of this theme. I may be one of the last DC residents to join the fast-casual salad movement, but I can now say I am fully on the train to salad-town! Even though this is a chain, it was in no way lesser than any other salad-brandishing establishment. On the contrary, I was really blown away with the salad I had! First, you can have a warm or a cold (read: traditional) salad. I wanted a warm salad- from there you may decide between adding rice or cauliflower rice. The amount of rice they give is plentiful! I opted for cauli rice because it seemed like the 2020 thing to do. I always get extremely overwhelmed at fast casual ordering - because all the options - but Chopt provides their menu in printed format before you reach the ordering line, which was a huge sigh of relief for someone like myself that second guesses everything I decide to order (food FOMO!) With Chopt, you may pick any type of green / rice combination and customize it. They also, like many other locations, allow you to decide between some of their pre-arranged salad combo ideas from their menu. One thing I really appreciate was they also list their caloric / nutrition information! The caloric information is highlighted on their menu board, but a quick google search will bring up the establishment and the FULL nutritional breakdown of their menu listed salads (with both cauliflower rice and regular rice identified). One other main thing to note: this is RIGHT IN THE HEART OF CHINATOWN. As in immediately across from a metro stop. If you have any notions of getting in and out quickly, do not try and brave middle-of-the-workday foot traffic. I went on a weekend late in the afternoon, so did not have any issues with ordering or seating within the location, but I can imagine it can be quite hectic during the weekday lunch periods! All in all I absolutely would come back, I LOVED my salad - it was enormous and well made and tasted amazing. read more

Why are lines out the door? I don't get it...it's a chance to create your own expensive salad. They give you so little meat and the final price is around $14 for what, exactly? I understand that lots of people are on the go and may not have time to create a simple salad but this place is the epitome of a restaurant overcharging busy customers. It also feeds on customers who want to be "healthy" and justify their food options when without the high-calorie dressing, the meat has no flavor to make the salad worthwhile. There aren't many other healthy options in the area, so I can't tell if people who frequent Chop't really like the salads, or if they are settling for the only healthy choice. The lines do move pretty quickly though so if you want to give it a shot, do it! read more

Delicious salad, very fast, customized...good shop location. App didn't work, no a/c (and it's hot and June!), and ice machine didn't work. No outlets to charge your phone. This place is very busy and they know how to keep the line moving! When I went, only two people stayed to eat. There are at least 10 tables here, maybe more. Lots of weirdo customers and good people watching on 7th St. (free entertainment)! $11 salad and drink. You can get a piece of bread from the cashier if you ask for it. A few things should bring your attention to this place: 1. 6'5" muscular guys at my gym who do crazy work-outs which involve climbing ropes and balancing on gymnastics rings eat there (and feel full) 2. A very picky eater whom I have never seen eat a salad for a meal eats there. 3. There is a line out the door, down the block at 3 PM, of people waiting to eat there. Just the third point itself should stir a desire inside you to belong to a popular community of eaters and propel you to go. Oh, sorry, that's what propelled ME to go. That and the fact that you can add fried chicken as a topping!!!! OK OK maybe fried chicken is not as healthy an alternative, but my trainer told me to eat more calories so I don't care. This was my choice for $7.79 Chop't Po'boy - Romaine lettuce, home fried chicken,tomato,red onions and white cheddar with tex-mex dressing and pita bread. The salad was HUGE for me, I could only eat half, and all the ingredients worked extremely well together, I was full and satisfied and for $7.79 (which could potentially feed you twice) I don't think you can beat it. You can also create your own salad for $5.99 or salad sandwich for $5.79 with lettuce, 4 ingredients and dressing. Some of the ingredients and all the meats cost extra, but I think if you chose wisely you can still end up with a great salad for what I think is (in DC) a great price. And with stimulating ingredients to choose from like grapes, grilled portabello and edamame plus exotic dressings like general tso's chipotle dressing, spanish cucumber vinaigrette and rocket fuel dressing :) [it's fat free], you can always try making your salads exciting. A couple tips: -If you don't want them to chop your salad too much, just... yeah, exactly, tell them to stop. -If you don't want too much dressing, just.... yup, you guessed again, tell them you don't want too much. -Try the iced tea or lemonade, they're delicious And don't complain about the price... please.... we live in Washington DC, you can't get a salad for $4. read more

Impressive expediting during the lunch rush which is pretty important if you're wanting to get in and out with a salad before your lunch hour is over. Chop't probably has its New York roots to thank for that. The chopping with the "double-bladed mezzaluna knife" seemed a bit overkill to me. They say they do this because the salad tastes better "chop't" and I am just not sure I agree. Seems more fanfare than anything else. Nonetheless, my steakhouse salad was an enjoyable after-gym meal. I especially liked the kick of the tex-mex ranch dressing! Rumor has it that the Dupont Circle location at 1300 Connecticut will open in February 2008. It's nice to get a healthy option in Chinatown amid the casual fast food eateries. I never feel guilty after eating Chopt. I hesitate to go to Chop't because it just never seems appealing to me. While I support the local businesses in DC, if it's not good, it's not really worthwhile. However, in the insanity of the 'Chinatown' area, Chop't is a quick and healthy choice. I appreciate their efforts to go for local farms and purveyors of their ingredients. I appreciate the rotating special seasonal menus that celebrate the bounty of the moment for a few months- peaches on anything makes my mouth happier. Root vegetables are so tasty, and take so long to prep, it's dreamy to just add them in here. Many people order salads, but some order wraps. Go whatever way suits your mood, same price. Go for a mix pre-selected and thrown freshly together, especially if you want more than just 4 ingredients and a base. If you know what you like though, as I do, it is such fun to make your own! The Chop't salad greens blend base is extra, as is arugula, but it gives you multiple healthful green veggies and seems worth the $0.79 price tag! So many choices, but they don't always have every veggie under the sun. Tomatoes, cukes, onions, carrots, falafel, almonds, dried cranberries, olives and celery are some standards. I wish there were more, but is still a decent selection. All the dressings are gluten-free, and they mark the ones that are vegan, along with listing the calories. That's cool- you can even just go for lemon or lime juice. I like the tahini based ones and chili cashew. Some premium toppings are worth it, like avocado! Here's the part that is annoying to some folks... They, yes, chop everything up after they select your ingredients as directed. Then they dress it up with your amount of dressing. This chopping is annoying, because you don't see the beautiful wholesome ingredients in as gloriously represented a state as possible for cut veggies... But, I actually find it convenient. You know when you are eating a leaf of baby spinach or a slice of pepper, and you have a bunch of other stuff in that bite, it can hang out of our mouth. Here, you really don't have to worry about arugula stems sticking out as you try to shove a mouthful of salad into your mouth. Convenient! Overall, this place is not bad. I wish they had more vegan dressings and more vegetable choices, but, seasonal and all the time for veggies doesn't make sense for some. However, the location always makes me feel like it is sticky and just well worn from so many people in and out. I would go again for fast convenient salad that is fresh and easy to eat. If ever oh Lord would you put one of these in New Orleans I would be the healthiest person in the city. My God how I loved this place. The salad and service was excellent with an excellent business model. Its really a chipotle for salad and better than chipotle. The menu combinations and dressings are staggering. If I lived in DC I could eat at Chop't every day. For 7 bucks you get enough salad for two meals and its so good you can't stop eating it. Ate here the other evening. Had the crispy chicken ranch salad. I thought it was really good. The only issue I found is that the menu picture shows big chicken chunks, however, they were as finely chopped as the salad. I would have liked more chicken as well. I love Chop't! I'm upset that they only have it in Washington DC and New York! That just doesnt seem far. I think their marketing team really needs to throw Chicago into the mix. My favorite salad is the Palm Beach salad. It comes with tomatoes but I like to substitute it with broccoli. Its ultra delicious with caesar salad. The crowd here during lunch is insane. The line is out the door and down the street. Thankfully they increase their staff here for the lunch hour so the line moves pretty quickly. But good luck finding a place to sit down and eat.
