Worth the wait!! (But prepare for the wait). The servers are very attentive and have great senses of humor. Free coffee outside around the fire place while you wait. Food was awesome! A definite go-to if you live in or are visiting the Bend area. This place has good vibes! Be prepared for a long wait on the weekends, though. I give props to the hostess who kept it all together, greeting the customers, re-filling water, clearing the tables all while keeping a smile on her face. My son ended up having 2 breakfasts as the portions were not very large (and I think it coincided with a growth spurt :) ) and he loved them both (french toast and pancakes). Every dish we had was delicious. The menu is impressively diverse and goes far beyond a typical breakfast.

Based on recommendations from two different friends, we visited Chow around 8 am today (Sunday). There was a 25 min wait for seating and another 20 min before our waiter came by (taking an order from a couple who was seated after us (as did the other server who 'came on' at 9 am). That was a little frustrating, but I get it - they were just trying to keep their heads above water and couldn't keep track of who'd been waiting. I had the eggs ala Caesar which was delightfully flavorful. My husband and son both had the locals dish on the top of the menu with eggs and bacon (hubs added on a crab cake). My dish was definitely the best :) I'd order it again! The staff working were very nice. It was just a busy morning and a little understaffed before we got there and then playin catch up. read more

Pretty spendy for average ski bums like us, BUT... we got there and ordered mimosas while we waited for our table. They were $10 but they were the size of about 3 mimosas. We the got seated at a table outside after like 5 to 10 mins which wasn't a long wait because Chow is dog friendly and there where plenty of doggos and puppers to pet while we were waiting. We then ordered the cheapest thing on the menu because we are poor ski bums from Colorado. It was a huge portion and was pretty tasty. 10/10 would be poor if I lived nearby. Wow! So cozy and sweet! My husband and I are visiting from Portland and saw the reviews for Chow and had to give it a shot. First of all, I got a garlic Bloody Mary which the pickled vegetables ARE TO DIE FOR. Yum! I ordered The Vinny which is a classic eggs Benedict on white bread with cheese bacon grits. My plate was gone. My husband got the corn beef hash, a little salty BUT he switched the potatoes for sweet potatoes and was very very happy (he's a tough one to impress!) if we are back in Bend we will be back! It's very hard to get a 5 out of me for breakfast food. From the beginning we knew we came to a good place. The hostess was very nice and genuine, the coffee-while-you-wait was a perfect idea, and waiting in the chairs on the lawn under perfect conditions put us in a great mood before reaching our table. Now to the food. All of their ingredients let you know that you're not eating processed foods that aren't worth the plates they sit on. They are whole foods and vegetables grown right there in their own garden. I had the scramble (a special for the day) with goat sausage, vegetables, and pepperjack cheese. I appreciate the effort and originality but I just wasn't crazy about the dish. I ordered french toast instead of a side because I was just in the mood. It was as good as I've had, but I'll honestly say that I'm not much of a 'french toast' kind of guy. Visiting from Alaska and our friends took us to breakfast at Chow! we were all so blown away we are going back tomorrow! It was so busy we had to wait for 30 minutes to be seated but so worth it. The ginger blueberry french toast was scrumptious. But I am dreaming about the BLT from the lunch side of the menu. Amazing airy yet chewy bread with crispy, smoky thick bacon, a fried egg, ripe tomato, crispy lettuce and I think avocado. It was perfection!!! Then the sweet potato fries with garlic were OUT OF THIS WORLD! The guys at our table all had the chicken fried steak and eggs. All plates were cleaned and we immediately decided we were coming back tomorrow. If in Bend GO to Chow. I will be back! read more

It's rare that I give an establishment 4 stars (least of all a restaurant in Bend!) and for CHOW it's more like a 3.5 but a lot of factors are making me round up to four, including the fact that it's such a lovely Sunday. About a 35 - 40 minute wait (15 minutes longer than we were told) for a table for two on a Sunday at 11 am. Luckily today was a BEAUTIFUL sunny day and we could chill outside where there were plenty of seating and a fire pit. Also, you can get coffee and order drinks (they have a full bar) while you wait. This really makes a difference because if it was any other day where the weather was shittier, I'm not sure if I would have been as patient. Like I've mentioned before, I'm a fan of homes that have been converted to public spaces because it makes for a very warm and inviting feel but it also makes it cozy. Really, really cozy. Inside is tight. We were wedged in a table in the corner where I sat on a cushioned bench and BD on a chair and the Itty Bitty between us and while our seating arrangement was okay, I did notice a couple of tables that are in the way of foot traffic and I can understand how guests would not be able to relax if they had to sit there. Super friendly staff. I've read previous reviews where the wait for tables and food can be long, the staff unfriendly or too busy to be attentive but we didn't get that today. Everyone was very helpful and kind and they all seemed to work together to turn their tables. Over the course of our meal we must have had four different people asking us multiple times how everything was, how everything tasted. Which leads me to this: I've read reviews where guests are unhappy with their meals but they didn't voice it and give the establishment a chance to correct themselves. There may be many reasons why that's the case, but in my experience today, with all those people asking us how everything tasted, there's kinda no excuse to let them know. So if you're at CHOW at your meal is not up to par, tell them! BD ordered scrambled eggs with potatoes and ham. He also ordered a side of the sausage gravy and his meal came with toast. He loved everything about his dish and just kept moaning about how delicious it tasted. It was like watching food porn, if there's such a thing. His orange juice was the best orange juice I've tasted in a while. If it wasn't fresh squeezed, I hope that whoever reads this from CHOW will let me know where I can get it in a bottle. I ordered the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs and creamy polenta. The spicy chorizo gravy was on the side and the meal was garnished with onions and mushrooms and blue cheese crumble. A weird combination but it worked. I've never had polenta before. It was heavily buttered but not well seasoned but nothing the salt shaker or my chorizo gravy or the blue cheese or mixing the mushrooms and onions together with the runny eggs couldn't fix. In fact, the more you mixed the dish up the better it tasted. I enjoyed the corn meal crust on my chicken fried steak as it gave the whole dish some texture but the steak itself was tough, chewy, and difficult to cut through. I ended up just scraping off the crust and leaving the patty. And you would think that an inedible main part of your dish would dampen the meal, but it didn't because everything else was so great (including the experience). I had to order an additional side of white toast because the butter and jam (that I think they made themselves) was SO FUCKING GOOD. Perfect end to the meal. I hope that our next visit will be just as enjoyable. BD wants to come back to try the BLT and I want to try their drinks. And crispy potato cakes. And their hash. And maybe their french toasts. read more

They pay attention to detail, quality and presentation at Chow. I like that they have improved their garden, and the seating is comfortable inside and out. The food is good enough to justify the slightly higher than expected prices. I like the emphasis on local food and quality, although the menu could use a little more variety. The food was excellent as was the ambiance. We are outside and it was lovely. The wait staff worked in a team manner and were helping each other out so the the service was incredible. I am amazed by how delicious the food is here. As a vegetarian, it is hard for me to find a good, veg friendly, biscuits & gravy. Not a problem here! I feel like it has been a little different each time I've had it because they use in-season ingredients; however, I have never been disappointed. And the bloody mary's?
