It is rare to find integrity and class in the automotive repair industry. Mike is an exception to this rule by leaps and bounds. I had engaged Mike on 2 separate repair jobs on two separate vehicles. One was a complicated air conditioning issue on a hot rod Mustang. The easy fix would have been throwing a whole new a/c compressor at the vehicle which would have been a hefty bill. However, Mike wasn't convinced that this was the smartest course of action and that I could avoid a larger bill with a far more simpler fix. He took the time to educate me on how to degrease the compressor's clutch (which he didn't have to do) and self-repair my a/c for about $8. The day before, I was quoted $800 to repair the same issue from a local "reputable" shop. Mike walked away from a big check to do the right thing for a client. Car-2 several months later had a fuel delivery issue. Embarrassingly, I had written down the wrong appointment time and no-showed for my own car repair appointment with Mike. We rescheduled to the next day. I insisted to compensate Mike for the time which he wasted on account of a scheduling mishap on my end. He refused. Not only that but once again helped to take the time to thoroughly diagnose the issue and come up with a cost effective solution for a repair. The big irony on this is that he didn't collect a dime for the effort as he wanted to ensure the solution worked first. I was honestly shocked at the personal integrity and character demonstrated by Mike. The commendable old-school approach is rare these days but certainly the basis for building long-lasting client relationships. I very much endorse Mike and would recommend him to family and friends. Mike gave me terrible service over three days. My car wouldn't start, and he said it was either the alternator or the computer. He showed up late twice and left without accomplishing anything. The last time he came, he texted saying he needed a timing belt -- which made no sense for an alternator problem -- and then he never came back. I ended up paying my mother the $350 she gave him, and now I'm having the car towed to Pilot Point. Nothing got done in three days, and we still lost $350. He is the most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with, and I would not recommend him to anyone. read more

On Monday, 19December2017, I had a door latch problem with my Toyota. After reading the reviews in Yelp about Mike's Mobile Mechanic service, I called Mike. Since this was the first time I was using a mobile mechanic, I had reservations (cost, level of experience, can he solve this automobile issue, etc.). I called Mike, told him the problem, and we discussed his service fee to come to my residence. As promised, Mike arrived on time, studied the door latch issue, and started working. In my decades of dealing with auto mechanics, one develops a sense of who is competent and who is not. Based on my observations, and the fact that he fixed my Toyota's door latch, Mike is indeed an experienced and competent auto mechanic. You probably want to know if Mike's service fee is expensive. Well, he's not cheap, but he's not expensive either: Mike's fee is fair. That is, you are getting a reliable, competent, and fair auto mechanic who will conveniently go to your house, or wherever you may have an automobile problem, and who is capable of fixing the problem. Called Mike after another "highly Yelp ranked" mechanic bailed on me. Mike was stellar in understanding the problem and advised he would call back if he could fit in today/tomorrow. A few hours later he is in my driveway and diagnoses the issue within what seemed like five seconds, which is a warranty issue. He waited while I called the previous mechanic who did the work to see if they will fix it. Once confirmed Mike was on his way. I really wanted to be able to give a 5 star review, but I can't. We contacted Mike on Friday after our SUV broke down the night before, and we had it pulled to the house. Took him a while to get to McKinney to see me but when he finally arrived he diagnosed the problem (fuel pump) and gave us an estimate which I thought was rather high. I asked him for a breakdown, parts / labor and let him know I could get the part much much cheaper since my wife works in auto parts. The labor-only quote was still kind of high, on top of the $85 service fee, but I told him I'd have the part today. He claims he wasn't going to commit to the job until we had the part in hand, even though I assured him I could get the part right away. /shrug I think this is where we got sideways in our communication. He booked another job today, said he couldn't do it until tomorrow. (After taking the weekend off... I don't understand why a guy who works mobile wouldn't take advantage of at least Saturdays... but anyway) I jumped online and found another mobile mechanic from Wiley, who doesn't *start* working until 5pm, had another job, and STILL got over here and did the job in record time for $60 less than Mike's quote. read more

This was my first experience with a mobile mechanic service and the positive reviews I read before choosing this one are 100% accurate. Mike showed up when he said he would and was very professional. He insisted on testing every possible simple cause before he would even consider "larger, more expensive issues". My issue was a simple dead starter battery and once he was sure that was the only problem he didn't try to make it seem more complicated or overcharge. I highly recommend Mike, I called him at 10am and he arrived at 1pm the same day. Service was a Lamborghini with a dead battery which requires the trunk and weather stripping to be removed to get to it. I wouldn't recommend ANY mechanic over Mike! We've used him 3 different times (on 3 different cars and have NEVER had a bad experience with him. He's always been on time, and even if he has a busy schedule he does everything he can to make time to fit you in! He comes to you so that's a plus! He's always honest about what's actually going on with your car. No shady deals or up charging. His prices are beyond fair. I wont say "cheap" per say, because lets face it, you're repairing a vehicle it's not EVER going to be "cheap" but he will never charge you more than is necessary, and has very reasonable rates. Mike is great and friendly. He is eager to solve mechanical issues. I recently had an oil change but the light continued to come on even after being resetted. I Google the common issue told Mike. He came the same day. Less than 10 mins the issue was resolved. My oil pressure was reading incorrectly. He replaced it and I was back in my car excluding the red light on my dash and irratating noise. He knew what he was talking about. He showed me what he was doing to my car and parts he was using. After a brief call with MMM, I sent him a message letting him know what I thought the issue may be and what I did leading up to contacting him. He jumped my butt immediately. Very unprofessional. Here's his quote..."You are just making my job harder the more you jack with it. Please either leave it alone or cancel your service appointment." It's important to note that I was told on a Wednesday that I would be given a call the next day to discuss Friday's schedule. I didn't receive a call. I didn't have the expectation that he would come on Friday, but I did expect to get a call to discuss scheduling. Poor follow up is not something I would write a review about. But the first part of my review was enough to let everyone know of my experience. As you can see, I'm no here to rip this guy, nor am I inserting an emotional opinion. I just talked to Mike to start a repair i told him i had installed a part and the car isnt working he stated he may or may not be able to fix it and then asked if i wanted him to come check it out. I told him i dont want to waste his or my time and money if he could not fix it and he would not say he could . I had purchased some shocks and struts online from Rock Auto for my 2001 PT Cruiser, and I called Mike to install them. As it happened, he had just finished a job nearby, and came right over to my house. In less than two hours, he was done, and charged me a very fair price for his labor. He also pointed out a couple of other items that will require some attention sooner than later, but he didn't pressure me, or use scare tactics in an attempt to get more business. My impression of Mike was that he is an honest guy, and a skilled, independent professional mechanic, who knows his stuff.
