Chris has decades of experience and still loves solving customer challenges. Chris moved my primary to the circuit breaker for 100 amp service. He didn't mind educating me on his process and other questions I had. He was helpful efficient and effective. He even took a look at a weird issue I had with the closet light not working. He found the issue(I already checked the bulb and replaced the fixture) in a couple minutes (switch not wired correctly) and just fixed it. Boom! Winning! Price was good too. I was in the market for a new stove and getting an all gas range was way cheaper than doing a dual fuel option (gas cook top and electric oven). Given the big price difference and being the cheap asian that I am, I went down the route of finding an electrician to change the plug from a 220v to a 120v and go with the all gas range. I called around and most people wouldn't give me an appointment to do such a small job, but luckily Chris did. Granted Chris was very busy, he took the time to come, take a look and give me an estimate for the work as well as changing a light switch that's been broken. His price was very reasonable and I scheduled the work. Chris came right on time and I spent a good deal of time asking him about the work he was doing and about the neighborhood (he's a life long San Carlos native). He was very pleasant and answered any questions that I had and even helped to remove some excess wiring from outside the house for free. A real class act. read more

Update 11/18/10 Another great job by Chris and his team! We finally got around to getting the recessed lighting done in the house. Of course there is no one else that I would call. They did a great job and like I said before have very reasonable prices. The reviews are rather old. We chose him based on all the rock star reviews. Have been nothing but disappointed. They installed our recessed lighting and some fans. However there was a delay on the switch of the start to the light...which they could never address we just had to live with. They then installed our fans after the recessed light install so now we have lots of flickering in our room due to the combo of the fan and lights. Pretty distracting while watching tv. We have to choose lights or fans because it's so bad. Honestly don't feel that yelp can be trusted. And now have to get a new electrician to fix this costing even more. Just terrible. Chris was very helpful and we have not even met. There was no power in our garage, so I E-mailed Chris to see if he would come over to take a look. He E-mailed me back and told me to reset the GFI plug, which I did, and voila -- the power was back! We took care of this problem without a formal consultation. Since my last review, I've hired Chris to perform major upgrades in my house, including switching from 100A to 200A, installing lights in my attics and crawl space, adding an attic fan, putting new spots into a bedroom, 3 ceiling fans and a major upgrade to the garage 50A feed. He has two main guys that help him out, Dennis and Jerimiah. Both solid guys that work well together. Efficient and trust-worthy. I hate giving him 5-stars again, because that means he might not be availalbe for me the next time I need him. But it is only fair to give this guy his due. 5-stars all the way. read more

Chris did a great job in a very difficult situation. He was supposed to move our cable outlet to another location in the house. He noted that there was access to an underground crawlway, which we had never seen, and scheduled us in the middle of a very busy week, as he put it, because he knows how important TV is to kids. When he came back to do the work it turned out that there was a lot of standing water and mud in the crawlway, despite this he took care of moving the cable with good humor and even saved us some money on extra cable he though he might need. Chris did a job for me about a year ago. He was prompt and did a wonderful job changing out the canister lights in our kitchen. I'm surprised I didn't give him a Yelp review at the time when the job was done because he did excellent work. I recommended him to many people. However, I recently had an issue with one of the lights and got in touch with Chris to have him look at it and fix the problem. He assured me he would come out when he returned from his vacation. That didn't happen even after I contacted him when he got back. So, a 5 star review becomes 2 stars. I don't appreciate it when a contractor will not stand behind his work and just ignore me when there is a problem. Customer service is part of the deal. read more

After reading some of the good reviews on Yelp I contacted Chris Borg Electric to help with some electrical issues in our house. I agree with the review and the 5 start rating. Chris was on time for our house call and after a few tests, he was able to determine the cause which was with the Power company. He was very thorough and checked and tightened all contact points to rule out all other possibilities. He was very detailed in his invoice and explained the issue so that I could explain our situation to the Power Company . If time is money, don't waste your time with this electrician! Based upon the reviews on Yelp, I selected Chris Borg Electric. Unfortunately, Chris is unreliable and irresponsible. I scheduled a Saturday appointment with Chris two weeks in advance. I confirmed the appointment the day prior to the appointment. He never came to the appointment. One hour before our scheduled appointment, he left a message canceling because "he took another assignment that would take all weekend." If that was the truth, then his business model appears to be to cancel the small jobs at the last minute to take a bigger job. What a waste of precious time....... read more

I am, unfortunately, forced to lower my rating on Chris Borg. I had Chris out to do a couple more jobs at the house a couple months ago. Everything was fine but he ran out of time before he could finish rewiring a ceiling fan. He told me we would reschedule soon. It's been a little more than two months and I still have no ceiling fan or light in my dining room. I attempted to contact via email and phone and got no response. Not sure what happened, maybe he got some bigger jobs that pay more, but if you forget the little guy, you might find their voice carries some weight with all the other little guys and gals out there in Yelp-land.
