Gustavo (owner/instructor) continues to compete and master his own craft while stressing the importance of technique over brute force to students. I appreciate this approach as an older practitioner, especially after training overseas at an MMA gym which had the opposite mentality. Gustavo is also supportive of kids and adults who want to compete and does his best to be mat-side with them at tournaments. We also bring our 3-year-old son, and the gym has this gated kids' area that is pretty legit. He's always having his own little party and is chillin while the rest of us are on the mats. I haven't seen other gyms set up like that. Jujutsu is pretty great, but they don't get credit for that. They only get credit for how they run their business and it needs improvement greatly. They're not open to suggestions, they don't care when you're injured. I used to have great workouts at the gym. After jujutsu and the injuries all my joints hurt and my workouts are nothing like they used to be. Things they don't tell you about jujutsu. The injury rate is 100%. They don't know how to teach without injury is one of their big problems. Beware and good luck if you decide to spend your time and money here.
