In 2016 I had two oak recliners upholstered with this company. I requested something long wearing and washable. She recommended this recycled leather, said it was very durable and yes I could wash it. 4 years later the leather portion of the fabric started peeling off the headrests. They didn't stand behind their work. The company that made the faulty material replaced it, but Chris's charged me $600. labor. Later the entire chairs started peeling as well, and sge wouldn't do a thing about it. Over $2000. I put into these, and now have to have itcall done again. These folks do know what they are doing with upholstery, but watch out on the pricing. They also know they are the only act in Yakima, so they can pretty much charge you whatever they want. Estimates from them are just that, and the end cost will be more. Decided to travel for much better pricing, and know I'm really glad I did not let them take my money! read more

We took our sofa cushions in to be re-stuffed. It's nice to have been able to extend the life of our furniture rather than spend a fortune in replacing it. They are very nice people and after they got necessary foam they scheduled us and the actual job was done quickly so we weren't without the use of our sofa. Toyota Celica driver seat disaster! I took my 97 Celica to Chris's Recovery Shop because the seat foam was worn out (I'm 6'4" 250lbs). The owner listened to my request to replace the foam with the firmest foam available and I had him sit in the car so he could feel how it did not support my body weight and I sat on the metal frame of the seat. When he sat in the car he too could feel the seat frame though he weighs at least 50 lbs less than I do. We went in the office and he made me an appointment for the repair. When I dropped off the seat, I clarified exactly what I wanted with his wife who works there. When I came to pick up my car seat 5/31/2019 it was explained to me by the technician that they could not repair the seat as I requested. For whatever reason they were unable to remove the foam. It was further explained to me that the seat foam had been reinforced and not replaced as I ordered. I was still charged the full price for a partial job. After fulfilling my end of the contract, I installed the seat in my car then took the 20+ minute drive home. During that drive I adjusted the seat base nearly constantly to find a position that was comfortable. By the time I arrived home I was so uncomfortable from my body weight resting on the metal frame of the seat that I called the shop. I spoke with the owner Chris. Chris reiterated that they were unable to do the repair as ordered. They were unable to remove the worn out foam and unable to widen the side bolsters. He went on to tell me about the pictures he took of my seat frame and how much work it would have taken to widen the bolsters so the decision was made to reinforce the existing seat foam. He spoke extensively about how different my seat frame was shaped from the average seat. I expressed that I was unhappy with the job and felt like I had thrown away my money and should have just bought a new seat because it was not better and possibly worse. He went on to explain that it would take a plasma cutter and welding to do what I had wanted done and would be a lot more work (right after he told me that it couldn't be done, he also said he had a plasma cutter). He explained that he had found a vendor for the firm foam but it was expensive and he would have to buy it in predetermined pieces. He said he would like to show me the pictures so I understood what he was talking about. I told him that I should have been called when it was determined that what I wanted done was not possible. He agreed that I should have been called. I asked why I wasn't called and his response was to the effect that because I worked night shift he didn't want to call me. I asked if he had felt the seat when they were done. He admitted that he had not sat on the seat and stated that it looked much better and now filled the seat cover. He failed to fulfill the work order. He failed to notify me the order could not be completed. He failed to inform me of the options and chose to do work not ordered then charged me for work not done. He offered to work on the seat again but I would have to pay the expenses for the firm foam (as originally requested) and they still would not be able to complete the job as ordered ( They were unable to remove the original foam because of the seat design). I agreed to return to the shop when able but after thinking about it; I decided I would not return because he admitted they were not able to do what I wanted done and had already paid to have done the first time. Both the technician and the owner told me that it was not possible to replace the foam in my seat. I cancelled the payment on my check because I did not receive the work I paid for and I was not informed or given the options for work they chose to perform without my authorization. Update on review 6/05/2019 I called the shop to talk about a refund today after finding out that my check had cleared the bank in less than 24 hours. The owner wasnt there so I waited all day and didnt get a return call. I called back after 4:30 and his wife answered and Chris wasnt there. I'm not sure what to believe now because the technician who did the work said he didnt replace the foam and now the wife in insisting the foam was replaced because she went a got the foam for the work to be done. She also stated that they didnt have enough scraps of the firm rebond foam to do the job so they used a different product. She became defensive when i asked why the seat was not tested before it was released to me as a finished job. She insisted that it could only be tested when it was mounted in the car so i have to bring the car back for him to sit in the car to test the seat. She also asked me if I had some rebond foam i wanted them to use. I had told the owner i wasnt providing the foam for the job because he saw my big chunk or rebond in the car when I had him sit in the car before I made the appointment for them to fix my seat. read more
