My hair needs tons of work and I needed to find a place that could give me a quick fix for an event. This salon is located inside Seafood City, along with Jollibees, Grill City, Goldilocks, and other small eateries. It can get fairly busy so I recommend that you call ahead to make sure they're not booked out given that they take a lot of walk-ins during the day. For this visit, I wanted to get my roots retouched because the grays were graying! Plus my bangs were too long. So I opted to get my bangs cut too. The lady that worked on my hair was very friendly. When she applied the dye, I felt a burning sensation on my scalp, which I've never experienced in the past. I had to wave her down after 15 minutes because I was beginning to panic. The male hairstylist working next to me quickly came to the rescue. He sprayed my head with a little water and I immediately felt relief. It turns out that the burning was due to me scratching my head the night before. Anyway, the female stylist stated that my hair was uneven and insisted that I cut it. I agreed after she took a photo of the back of my head and pointed it out. I told her to keep the length. But she took out the clippers (CLIPPERS?) and cut too much off. I requested she cut my bangs just below my cheek bone, instead, she cut above my cheek bone. I should've said something but it was too late. On a positive note, my hair looks healthier. But at the end of the day, she cut it too short and now I'm having a hard time styling my hair. I didn't make it a huge deal because I know my hair will grow back, but now I know to say no to a haircut next time. I'll return for a root touch up or color but that's it. read more

Chris Salon is such a hidden gem! I was in a pinch for a haircut ... and tried Chris Salon for the first time. And they blew my expectations out of the water! A shoutout to Anna!!! Anna is so professional, knowledgeable, and SO GOOD!! Here's how it works: 1.) You enter your name on the waiting list near entry 2.) You wait for the next available stylist, 3.) Or you wait for your desired stylist 4.) Get your haircut I really lucked out as it was Anna who called my name. You know how a GREAT STYLIST will tell you what / how you need to cut your hair... instead of the classic "what do you want to do? What length do you want?", and sometimes the annoying upselling. Anyway, back to Anna -- upon sitting down in her chair, she turned the chair one round, took two look at me, and pulled up a picture from her phone. Anna said "You'll look good in long layers.. how about something like this?" I was absolutely ECSTATIC! So many times I've asked for long layers and no one knows what the heck I'm talking about (or they know but can't deliver).... and now finally ANNA!!! Anna was speedy, yet had great attention to detail. And chop chop, I was done in about 30-mins. Please note that Anna did not (need to) wash my hair - then cut - then re-wash, etc. I am sure that they offer such services but I needed the quickest in-and-out today, so it was just cut, style, and that's it. I was a bit apprehensive at first about the no washing and not even a "wet the hair with a spray bottle"...but I guess a Pro is really a Pro!!! I watched how she cut my hair and Anna had great attention to detail... she repeatedly make sure that all sides are even, and used the razor to made fine adjustments. I am SO HAPPY with my haircut!!! And even happier that I have now found a GREAT HAIRCUTTING place that DOES NOT charge $50+ for a women's haircut. Great find thanks to Yelp! This is a hidden gem and I highly recommend. read more

I found this salon while shopping and dining at Seafood City in Concord many years ago. I've been coming, to get my haircut here for about 4 years now. I usually get my haircut from a guy named Van. He used to take walk ins, but lately everytime i walk in, he's always busy and I can't interrupt him while he's with a client. So, the last couple of times I went in, I had somebody else cut my hair. I'm open to something new since I love a variety of haircuts. This time it didn't go as well as i hope, but no big deal. My hair will grow back. The lady who cut my hair was sweet and tried her best, and that's when I discovered Chris, who helped shaped my new hairstyle. So, eventhough my haircut took a little longer time to cut, i was pleased with my end result. It is something I can work with. I think with a little help and more practice, the lady who originally cut my hair this time, will have a little more confident with her cutting skills. Thanks Chris Salon! Love this place. Just got a haircut here today for the first time and I feel like my hair stylist is the only person who understands what a "skin fade" is because he did it perfectly. It was inexpensive too. I'm not gonna bother going to other hair salons to go find out but this is currently the cheapest haircut I can find in East County. That's probably not true but I'm too lazy to find out. And my family comes to Seafood City here to do groceries sometimes anyway so it's convenient. If I wanted to whine about something, it's that I don't know how you're supposed to schedule an appointment here. Their phone number that's online doesn't seem to take calls. It rings for an ungodly long time and when it stops, you get an automated message and you can't leave a voicemail. It's weird. I guess you just walk in and put your name on their wait list at the door. It's not enough of a complaint to dock stars, but it's something I figure is worth pointing out. read more

Can i just say, my best experience from a hairstylist in a long time. Not just customer service, it was attentiveness and care that I haven't experienced in a while. Why I have just discovered this place, i don't know. I merely requested last night if it was possible for me and mom to come in early today for keratin, color and haircut, and we were taken in. Process was smooth, Chris was there before we even arrived on the time he asked us to come which was beyond professional. He even adjusted the price for us because of the length of our hair and because it was so thin, this was total honest business that I appreciate and is a big deal for me. Also, which is another big deal, he got the haircut and hair color that i want, even mom's. Both Chris and Anna cared for me and mom like they would their own family. Would I come back? Van, the colorist, did an excellent job on my hair, giving it a healthier look with the perfect hair color and highlights. I'm really happy with the results and want to thank Van. This Salon is not accommodating and lacks professionalism. It's unfortunate that it's associated in a community that thrives and dependent to a cultural base. Twice, we were turn down by them 'coz "it's almost time to closing" Fact 1; 20 minutes before closing time. He is busy with his phone. I've been going to Christian for 10+ years way before he owned the place. Back then, I would've given this place 5-star rating! Unfortunately, the service and cleanliness of this place has really gone down over the years. Chris is so busy and most of the time he is triple booked and because of this, expect long waits. In the last few years, I have been thinking about looking for another stylist coz the service has really gone down but Chris does a good job when he is not rushing, so I've stayed loyal. Unfortunately, the last straw happened a few weeks ago. I had an appointment for a haircut. The appointment was confirmed many times via text. I got there on time and waited 45 mins only to be told that he can't help me because he was already helping 2 other people. I was shocked! It's not like I was a walk-in -- I had an appointment!! -- that is just plain wrong to cancel after I've sat and waited for 45 mins! The least he could have done was let me know right away. I was really shocked that he would do that. It was so unprofessional and that's an awful way to treat your longtime customer. Time to find a new stylist. :( read more

5 stars for Van. I've had my hair cut and dyed from him multiple times and I am happy with the results every time. Like a previous review, I want to also sound off that he's nice, listens well, and makes suggestions. I've had a haircut with the owner Chris and I'm sure he's a master at his craft, however his attitude to what I was looking for was very dismissive and I wasn't satisfied with the end result. Since then, I've sticked with Van and he's been my go to barber. May I add it's super affordable? Chris and his magic hands! I found this salon by accident. His shop is located inside the seafood city and whenever we are there for something his place is always busy. So one day I decided to give it a try. By the first look of his salon, it doesn't really look as fancy as your typical salon. But his works speaks for itself. I have a fizzy and very thick hair. Looking for a good hairdresser that knows how manage it, is a task. And when I start coming here Chris knows how to deal it in instant. I never have a problem whenever I go there. I ask him I want certain color and style he always delivers it on point. And on top of all that he is very honest and his prices are reasonable. He will tell you what you need and what you dont need. In short he wont ripped you off and pressure you to buy hair products. If you to what it give it a try, I suggest to make an appointment. He is such a busy man and everybody wants him to work with there hair. Making an appointment gives you a sure spot on his busy schedule. I believe they take walk ins too . I was utterly Confused/ shocked by his response! He seemed like he was hallucinating and under some kind of drug influence. Very disrespectful with no manner. I had a hair cut and hair straightening with Chris 3 years ago. Not only my hair got damaged, it became brittle for a very long time but a good area of my hair on top of my head was literally chopped off I am guessing it was from the hair strengthening that was overdone. I dropped by for a haircut today. I didn't have an appointment. I saw that he was really busy so I sat down and waited. No one acknowledged me or say hi at least. After a while I approached Chris and ask courteously if he could accommodate me. He was with a customer. He answered me very rudely and said that he lost his focus and snapped at me. Awful haircut and even God-awful customer service. Before I get into the review I shall note that the person I am writing this about is a short, fat, Asian woman with a lazy eye. If she speaks gibberish then that's probably the one. I was outside the salon waiting for my turn, then she came out and offered to cut my hair. Usually, I'd let Chris (owner) cut my hair so I refused. But she kept on insisting. She sits me down and I show her a reference photo; an undercut with an inch or two off of the curtains. She nods her head as if she understood. She did none of it. to start off the fucking cut she pulls out her clipper and randomly lifts up my hair and begins to shave at random. She didn't even lubricate it so it was just pulling out hair. She continued with the haircut with awful technique, cutting at random and not even using her other hand for reference. During the haircut, I stopped and showed her the picture again and explained that that's what I want to where she does her stupid nod in agreement. After the haircut was over she held the mirror behind my head to show me what it looked like at the back. God. Awful. It looked nothing from what I had asked, nor did the sides. I began to protest that this is nothing from what I had asked and she began to argue that I was wrong and began to become frustrated as if she was the one who got their hair fucked up. If I could've gotten her name then I surely would include it because this was just unacceptable. I have had unfavorable experiences getting a haircut, but Jesus Christ does this take the cake. The only decent worker there would be Chris, but since he's always so busy you're better off going somewhere else. Just beware of a short, fat Asian lady with a lazy eye. she will fucking ruin your hair. If you believe this is over the top then I can assure you it isn't, I mean look at all these other reviews. The only good ones revolve around Chris the owner, even then there are still bad ones. I still regret paying smh. Moral of the review, don't come here when Chris is busy, you'll regret it. The worst customer service! I've been going to this salon for several years to get my hair treatment (solely on the fact that it's only 5 miles from home; my previous hair lady moved her salon really far), and even then, customer service was subpar. Today, however, was the worst experience I've had and the last time I will step foot in here. I went in for an appointment with Christian only to find out he wasn't there. I went up to a hairdresser because after standing at their desk for 5 minutes and no one acknowledging my presence, I decided to ask where Christian was. The hairdresser looked at me very confused and finally said he doesn't know where he is. I asked him to call him and he said he would call. But as soon as our conversation ended, he went right back to setting up the hair dye for his customer. So I decided to call Christian directly. No answer. Left a text message. No reply. I waited for 20 more minutes to give him the benefit of the doubt, which at this point, was 40 minutes past my appointment time. Finally, one of his hairdressers gets a phone call and low and behold, it's Christian! He had the nerve to call them back but not his customer who had an appointment and had been waiting. I go up to the hairdresser and ask to talk to Christian, to which he hesitantly allowed me to. He handed me the phone and I asked him where he was. He seemed surprised to talk to me and then came up with some excuse why he couldn't make it to the salon. Complete waste of my time. This is the shadiest establishment I've ever been to. I can't believe this place is still in business. This salon is always dirty and customer service is so poor. Please do yourselves a favor and STOP coming here!
