Stopped in to have hot chocolate with my teenager. He loved it, staff was friendly, environment was perfect to chat and watch sports.

Saturday breakfast felt like a possible morning of endless waiting, so when I saw that this place opened at 7:00am, I decided to go here on my last morning in town. I walked from my hotel, which was a good trek for the morning, but also meant I'd be able to walk off whatever I ate on my way back. I have no regrets. The restaurant is located immediately across the street from the courthouse, so there's plenty of old buildings to discover if you have the time to meander. Outside gave me a memory of some of the small restaurants on the pier near where I grew up, and indoors gave me that quaint feeling as well. The staff immediately sat me, asked if I wanted coffee before walking away, and gave me ample time to discover the menu before returning with my drink. I knew I wanted a biscuit, gravy, and eggs, but I also really needed a vegetable, so I opted for the Country Omelet AND ordered a side biscuit, which I split in half and enjoyed one side with gravy and the other with butter and jam when it all arrived. After ordering, I got up to use the restroom, and by the time I was back, my food was already up. Talk about fast service! Everything was delicious! The biscuit was light and went well both sweet and savory, and the omelet was seasoned well enough that I tasted every ingredient. I have never had a place put the omelet ON TOP of the hash browns, but I'm telling you, I may never have it any other way. The coffee was smooth and stayed warm in those mugs. I would have had another cup, but I was afraid I wouldn't have anywhere left to put it! I didn't think I'd eat it all, but also, mama didn't raise no quitter, so I devoured everything. In all, a great choice for breakfast in Downtown STL.

Chris was the only close walking distance breakfast place near our hotel. Everywhere seems a little further from the arch. We wanted a sit down breakfast. The place is huge, plenty of seating. It was newer and clean inside than what I was expecting. We were seated right away and ordered chai lattes. The chai latte was okay. Wasn't as creamy as we hoped for. As for breakfast, I normally like just like a ham or bacon omelet but my friend wanted to try the UFO, and we split the UFO, replaced side with biscuits and gravy (for extra $) and she got the chicken and grits. The UFO omelet was ok, but not normally what I would prefer. My friend ended up not liking it bc it was too "wet". Should have just gotten what I wanted. The grits with chicken bits had jalapeños and it was a good taste. I enjoyed that more. The jalapeños gave it a good kick. The biscuits and gravy were rich, and thank god we only got a side order and it was a good deal to replace the side with it. It was pretty good too, just rich. Service was fine. There wasn't a lot of people, it was also a Friday morning. Not a bad breakfast place to come to.

Went here on a Friday morning during our visit to St. Louis. The place was not too busy around 9 am, so no wait or anything. We ordered the UFO omelet, grits, and half an order of biscuits and gravy. The omelet was okay, although I think it would be better if the salsa was on the side so it doesn't get so soggy. The grits were really good and had a good spice level to it.. not too heavy or buttery either so yum!! The gravy on the biscuits had awesome flavor and the biscuits weren't too dense.. definitely one of the better biscuits and gravy I've had! It was also A LOT! We also ordered hot chai teas to go, which were just okay.. there was a certain flavor to them that wasn't quite what were used to, and not as creamy as we were expecting. If you're looking for an affordable place for breakfast downtown, this is your spot!

Underrated in the heart of downtown St. Louis, right by the courthouse, Chris' at the Docket is the ultimate breakfast/lunch spot. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite before a court appointment or meeting friends for a leisurely foodie meetup, this spot delivers. The menu features a thoughtful mix of classic breakfast staples and inventive dishes. The portions are generous, the coffee flows freely, and the staff treats you like family--exactly what you want to start your day. Look at the spread! Omg! Pro tip: Come early--it's no secret that this place is a favorite among locals, and it fills up fast!

Hadn't been here in a while, but while downtown soaking up the Mardi Gras fun, we decided to pop in--and I'm glad we did. My friend grabbed breakfast and said it hit the spot, but let's be honest... we were really there for the mimosas. Who says Mardi Gras has to start with a hurricane? We went rogue and ordered the Mimosa‑Rita, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend adding it to your celebration lineup on your next visit. Cheers to switching things up!

Wow! What a great find! We walked over from our hotel and then stopped off at the City Garden on our way back. The outside doesn't look like much. Sitting on a busy street, the large corner diner hid so many things on the outside. The room is big and bright. Sunlight streamed into the renovated modern room. It was cheerful and very clean. Walking in, a super friendly man greeted us like we were family. He was all smiles and pleasant conversation. Our server also offered that same personable service. Our breakfast choices were served piping hot and delicious. Everything was so fresh. I loved my veggie hash and my friend raved about her breakfast fried rice. My friend also tried a snazzy latte and said she loved it so much she would have one everyday if she lived nearby. This non-touristy diner is a real gem for locals and visitors alike.

I absolutely love this place. Food was incredible, great service, and everything came out within 10-15 minutes. Definitely will be back next time I'm in St. Louis!

The HK bowl was amazing. Being dairy free, they cook with oil so I didn't have to worry about the butter issue. The bowl was spicy! The aioli was delicious. If you don't like spice I'd ask for less jalapeño. Every flavor went well together! My boyfriend got the UFO omelette and says it had amazing ranchero sauce. It was huge and stuffed. The pancakes were very basic. 100% would recommend coming here. It was good service and great food!

The food and service is excellent! We're from the Chicago area, we came here two times a couple of months ago. And we're back with the whole family today. It's never been crowded each visit. Very clean! Great choices on the food, you can even have a mimosa!

It feels less like a typical coffee stop and more like part of the overall hotel experience. What really stands out is the attention to detail. The syrups are made in-house, and you can taste the difference--nothing overly sweet or artificial, just well-balanced flavors that elevate the drinks. The menu is impressively versatile too, with plenty of options whether you're in the mood for coffee, tea, or something more substantial. Speaking of which, the veggie flatbread was a highlight. Fresh, and thoughtfully put together with seasonal vegetables and a delicious goat cheese that tied everything together without overpowering it. Add in genuinely great customer service, and you've got a spot that's worth lingering in, not just grabbing and going. If you're visiting 21c (or even if you're not), Good Press is absolutely worth a stop.

Most of the food resembled what we could find in a standard café. Some of the items like the green smoothie, the yogurt parfait (not pictured), and so on were premade and available at the counter. They tasted like what one would expect them to taste like according to the ingredients included on the menu. The smoked salmon toast and the breakfast burrito both had sufficient ingredients. The cinnamon roll had enough sugar content and was a bit dry. The biggest highlights were the designed coffee. Both the lavender latte and the black walnut latte had good art and had a good balance between the coffee flavor and the sweet flavor. We wanted to get lunch items one day but were not able to because their chef somehow winded up in the hospital, which was more than okay, but it raised the question for me about their staffing, because I would think there might be another chef available who could cook lunch items, but apparently not. While I am not certain if it's an indication of intentional understaffing or if it's standard restaurant practice, I do have to let people know this happened.

Amazing restaurant, with amazing staff…read more I went here with my kids for an early fathers day breakfast. We made a reservation to this place. It said we were ninth in line. We thought we had to wait for a long time, but it actually went quick (like 5 minutes) when we got there. We did not realize this place had an upstairs, until our waiter guided us. This place looks very large on the inside compared to what it looks like on the outside. The restaurant also had an rustic atmosphere. With exposed pipes, rusted decor, and 80's memorabilia on the shelf. We ordered coffee here, and one of them came in a Christmas cup. Even though it was six months away. My wife chuckled on how they served her coffee in a Christmas cup. Mine came in a plain white cup. But I still excessively chuckled on how funny the menu is and the staff are. The staff are very attentive to how your food tastes and make plenty of funny jokes with you. They also are very descriptive on what the specials on pancakes and omelettes are. As well as being very honest. I ordered the Benny's Got Beef Or Belly with Brisket. I know, long name. I watched the weather while my food was being prepared, and occasionally looking at the PBS TV nearby. My wife was drawing with my 11 year old daughter (and writing "secret messages") as their food was being prepped and prepared. When my food finally came out, I immediately took a bite. The brisket was very juicy and tender. And the eggs were delicious on the side. I tried this place several years ago. Was still the same good taste that I remember when I took my wife to this place. Very amazing place. Will come again.

Instead, we took time to get ready and I even ran a few errands before checking in with the host. When I did check in, he let me know there would be another 15-20 minutes before a table was ready. It was a chilly day and sort of drizzly the day we went, so we had to hang out inside to wait for the table which was a little awkward, but we made it work. Once our table was ready, we had a server who brought over water and coffee right away. She even told us about the specials for the day and my friend and I were sold with the poached pear pancakes! After a few minutes, our server came back and we placed our orders and also asked for some refils of our drinks. When the food was delivered to the table, it was hot and fresh and looked amazing. My friend and I shared the pancakes and were so happy to be able to sample both kinds. While my other friend went with a more healthy meal of eggs with bacon and an english muffin. Our server came over to check in on us a few times and made sure we were good. When it was time to pay the bill, we took care of htat quickly and were on our way. Honestly, the wait sucks for this spot, but the food delivers everytime and I recommend visiting for brunch if you are in the area. Just be sure to get on the waitlist or else you will be told a crazy wait time upon arrival.

The menu had more options to choose from than I thought, but I went with the scouter with apple butter and shredded cheddar, while my bf got the papa, a 1/2 order of the breakfast sausage, we split an order of tots, and each got a strawberry lemonade. The inside is small, so seating is pretty limited. For it being a Saturday morning, we didn't have much of a wait. The first bite into my sandwich was everything I hoped it would be. The biscuit was fluffy and surprisingly, the apple butter paired exceptionally well with the egg and cheddar. I managed to scarf that down and save some room for the tots, which were cooked to perfection. My boyfriend really enjoyed his sandwich. While the strawberry lemonade was good, it was almost too sweet, which is rare coming from someone with a sweet tooth. Overall, we both enjoyed our meals and left full but not overly stuffed. We'll definitely be back to try more food.

The Station Grille is located in the Union Station Hotel event centre. This place is huge! And there are often events going on in the main venue area. The Good - Ok, struggling here. Let's move on. The Bad - Wait time to be seated, even though they weren't busy. I'm guessing they were switching from Brunch to Lunch, so the host was taking his time. It may have also been that several members of the party were dressed super fancy (EnchantiCon). The food was lacklustre and they stopped brunch at 11 am (WHAT?!?!) The Ugly - Oh, there is just so much! The restaurant obviously didn't know that there was an event going on, much less what event. We were asked several times by our waitress alone. Took 25 minutes to get water... because no one could decide who was bringing it to the table. After food was delivered, I waited about 5 minutes, then walked over and got rolls of silverware from a basket on the brunch buffet. The three of us ordered, and none of it came out right. The most maddening thing is that the Hotel and the Union Station bar, and even the outlying restaurants, are fantastic. This needs to get some kind of an upgrade, not only in what it is as a restaurant, but how it is run. The Wrap-up - This place is getting by on its brunch and the fact that it looks like a classic/classy hotel restaurant. But don't fall for it. The experience and the bland food are not worth the extravagant prices.
