A great start to a Saturday- breakfast with a view of the Arch. Lots of interesting choices on the menu but we kept it basic. Everything was cooked to order, served hot and served fast. Team approach to table service meant we never waited for anything so I was surprised to read about service issues by others. Slow service. Not the friendliest staff either. I also have a huge issue with being charged $.49 for onion on my sandwich. If that's the case you should let someone know. I got minus tomato, so where's my $.49 for that. There has to be some communication for extra charges. Food is okay, but not anything outstanding. This was my first time here and I will not be back. The visit started out fine with a friendly hostess and fresh coffee, but we waited for our food for almost an hour as others were served around us, our waitress did not check in on us, and when our food finally came it was cold and half the order was missing. I found an insect's leg in my meal. Told this to the waitress to let the kitchen know, they brushed it off and called it a "burnt end." Didn't come to apologize or talked to me individually to ensure I was mistaken if it really was a burnt end. As a courtesy, they took $5 off my meal, which in my opinion was a terrible gesture on their end. Very disappointed by the way they handled issues and will not be returning back. read more

We have been to the new downtown location twice now. The service was AMAZING! (David was our server both times, other servers checked in with us as well!) We found the food to be excellent and it arrived promptly. We are thrilled to have another option downtown, only thing missing is the liquor license and rumor has it that it is coming soon. After 10 years of coming to Chris's breakfast, im afraid I'm no longer interested in giving them my money. They advertise online that they are open 630 to 3pm everyday, when they actually aren't. Their service is slow and the staff here are really rude and apathetic. Typical minimum wage attitudes and laziness is what you'll expect from the service. They mess up orders and roll their eyes when called out for it. The food honestly isn't anything exciting and there are plenty of other places to go for food here in Downtown stl. This was a great idea, but executed poorly and will become yet another casualty in the Downtown St. Louis food scene. read more

I recently moved to St. Louis and have eaten at Chris's a few times. It's thoroughly not bad on all fronts. Their breakfast menu presents the usual staples and their lunch/ dinner menu has some nice offerings as well. Went here for breakfast while visiting our daughter in stl. Waitress was very rude and acted like she had something more important to do and we were wasting her time. The eggs had a strange consistency to them. My daughter stopped eating them when she noticed they tasted funny.....I kept eating them (I was hungry!) and boy did I pay for it! I was sick for the next 24 hours and still cannot stand the thought of eating eggs! Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

FANTASTIC girl at at the front who welcome's is and who was dealing with a lot, but in the very rare circumstance in the last 3 weeks she actually enjoyed her job and made us feel welcome and a guest - a true credit to the manager/owner, and whoever else is in charge... Horrible customer service, they mess up you order and won't fix it because "they are too busy"

The food was great. The service not so much. Got seated rather quickly on a busy Sunday after church brunch time. Order was taken and food was delivered in a relatively timely manner. That's when it went down hill. Was asked if we needed anything else, and asked for syrup. Went ahead and ate mains. Original waitress came back to check if we needed anything; asked for syrup once again. Proceeded to finish eating. Original waitress came back to drop off check, oblivious to the fact that she had not brought that elusive syrup. We simply smiled and asked for boxes to take cold pancakes home along with the left overs. Waited for boxes while watching her eat with the cooks in plain view of the customers. Finally asked a sweet waitress if we could have some boxes for our cold pancakes. She said she would get the manager. After searching the entire place as he had left through a side door for his break as well, he came over so we could explain what was going on. He said he would take care of it. Went talked to the waitress, he then brought us our boxes, returning our ticket, and walked off without even an apology. So we paid our bill, no tip and left. Hopefully when visiting, you have a better service experience; at least if you get our waitress she may have learned something from our "tip"-- take care of your customers. read more

Ok. Super cute when we came in. Me plus 2 others. Soda was flat. Our waitress Victoria took our order 5 minutes after sitting. Took 25 minutes for a cold sandwich, wrap, and a burger. Mind you the place isn't busy. At all. 2 tables that sat while we were waiting for our food got theirs right after we did. The waitress sucked. Very piss poor attitude. Food is fantastic but wait is unreal on weekends. Don't go without a reservation as they don't seat walk ins in a timely manner, the estimated wait time is not accurate and there are only two stools for the patient. Tables sit open with no explanation for long periods of time, keeping people standing at the door. (They are eventually filled with waiting walk ins so not being held for reservations) read more
