    Pancakes with blueberries

I was with a group of six people on a Sunday morning. They were busy, but it was so nice that they were able to see us right away. It's so hard to find breakfast in St. Louis that doesn't have a huge wait! The food was mostly good with a few exceptions. The pancakes were really disappointing, they were pretty dry and flat and not fluffy at all. The omelette was very good, but it had an enormous amount of onions in it. Everything else was excellent, including biscuits, fried rice, and breakfast tacos. I would definitely go back but would not get the pancakes and ask for minimal onion. Service was great and it's a very convenient location. I'm glad they are open downtown!

Saturday breakfast felt like a possible morning of endless waiting, so when I saw that this place opened at 7:00am, I decided to go here on my last morning in town. I walked from my hotel, which was a good trek for the morning, but also meant I'd be able to walk off whatever I ate on my way back. I have no regrets. The restaurant is located immediately across the street from the courthouse, so there's plenty of old buildings to discover if you have the time to meander. Outside gave me a memory of some of the small restaurants on the pier near where I grew up, and indoors gave me that quaint feeling as well. The staff immediately sat me, asked if I wanted coffee before walking away, and gave me ample time to discover the menu before returning with my drink. I knew I wanted a biscuit, gravy, and eggs, but I also really needed a vegetable, so I opted for the Country Omelet AND ordered a side biscuit, which I split in half and enjoyed one side with gravy and the other with butter and jam when it all arrived. After ordering, I got up to use the restroom, and by the time I was back, my food was already up. Talk about fast service! Everything was delicious! The biscuit was light and went well both sweet and savory, and the omelet was seasoned well enough that I tasted every ingredient. I have never had a place put the omelet ON TOP of the hash browns, but I'm telling you, I may never have it any other way. The coffee was smooth and stayed warm in those mugs. I would have had another cup, but I was afraid I wouldn't have anywhere left to put it! I didn't think I'd eat it all, but also, mama didn't raise no quitter, so I devoured everything. In all, a great choice for breakfast in Downtown STL.

Chris was the only close walking distance breakfast place near our hotel. Everywhere seems a little further from the arch. We wanted a sit down breakfast. The place is huge, plenty of seating. It was newer and clean inside than what I was expecting. We were seated right away and ordered chai lattes. The chai latte was okay. Wasn't as creamy as we hoped for. As for breakfast, I normally like just like a ham or bacon omelet but my friend wanted to try the UFO, and we split the UFO, replaced side with biscuits and gravy (for extra $) and she got the chicken and grits. The UFO omelet was ok, but not normally what I would prefer. My friend ended up not liking it bc it was too "wet". Should have just gotten what I wanted. The grits with chicken bits had jalapeños and it was a good taste. I enjoyed that more. The jalapeños gave it a good kick. The biscuits and gravy were rich, and thank god we only got a side order and it was a good deal to replace the side with it. It was pretty good too, just rich. Service was fine. There wasn't a lot of people, it was also a Friday morning. Not a bad breakfast place to come to.

Half order of biscuits and gravy

Went here on a Friday morning during our visit to St. Louis. The place was not too busy around 9 am, so no wait or anything. We ordered the UFO omelet, grits, and half an order of biscuits and gravy. The omelet was okay, although I think it would be better if the salsa was on the side so it doesn't get so soggy. The grits were really good and had a good spice level to it.. not too heavy or buttery either so yum!! The gravy on the biscuits had awesome flavor and the biscuits weren't too dense.. definitely one of the better biscuits and gravy I've had! It was also A LOT! We also ordered hot chai teas to go, which were just okay.. there was a certain flavor to them that wasn't quite what were used to, and not as creamy as we were expecting. If you're looking for an affordable place for breakfast downtown, this is your spot!

Underrated in the heart of downtown St. Louis, right by the courthouse, Chris' at the Docket is the ultimate breakfast/lunch spot. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite before a court appointment or meeting friends for a leisurely foodie meetup, this spot delivers. The menu features a thoughtful mix of classic breakfast staples and inventive dishes. The portions are generous, the coffee flows freely, and the staff treats you like family--exactly what you want to start your day. Look at the spread! Omg! Pro tip: Come early--it's no secret that this place is a favorite among locals, and it fills up fast!

Wow! What a great find! We walked over from our hotel and then stopped off at the City Garden on our way back. The outside doesn't look like much. Sitting on a busy street, the large corner diner hid so many things on the outside. The room is big and bright. Sunlight streamed into the renovated modern room. It was cheerful and very clean. Walking in, a super friendly man greeted us like we were family. He was all smiles and pleasant conversation. Our server also offered that same personable service. Our breakfast choices were served piping hot and delicious. Everything was so fresh. I loved my veggie hash and my friend raved about her breakfast fried rice. My friend also tried a snazzy latte and said she loved it so much she would have one everyday if she lived nearby. This non-touristy diner is a real gem for locals and visitors alike.

Hadn't been here in a while, but while downtown soaking up the Mardi Gras fun, we decided to pop in--and I'm glad we did. My friend grabbed breakfast and said it hit the spot, but let's be honest... we were really there for the mimosas. Who says Mardi Gras has to start with a hurricane? We went rogue and ordered the Mimosa‑Rita, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend adding it to your celebration lineup on your next visit. Cheers to switching things up!

I absolutely love this place. Food was incredible, great service, and everything came out within 10-15 minutes. Definitely will be back next time I'm in St. Louis!

The HK bowl was amazing. Being dairy free, they cook with oil so I didn't have to worry about the butter issue. The bowl was spicy! The aioli was delicious. If you don't like spice I'd ask for less jalapeño. Every flavor went well together! My boyfriend got the UFO omelette and says it had amazing ranchero sauce. It was huge and stuffed. The pancakes were very basic. 100% would recommend coming here. It was good service and great food!

The food and service is excellent! We're from the Chicago area, we came here two times a couple of months ago. And we're back with the whole family today. It's never been crowded each visit. Very clean! Great choices on the food, you can even have a mimosa!

I'll be up front and disclose that I AM NOT A SALAD PERSON. The closest form of a salad that I eat would be a chicken Caesar wrap laden with dressing and cheese and carbs with probably 2000 calories. That said, boy was my elote salad at Neon Greens enjoyable. It is a lil pricey but worth it once I dug in and really enjoyed myself and learned more about the shop and their mission. They grow everything themselves - so cool. I love the friendly employees and the really really fresh greens and combinations. I got the cheese bread but was really close to ordering the soup instead. I'll skip the bread and try the soup next time. No matcha soft serve available the day that I went.

You walk into this older building and it just opens up into this bright, clean, almost energizing space . I went with the Umami Crunch with tofu and... yeah, this is the kind of place that makes you realize how rare a really good salad is. Like, when do you ever eat a salad and think, "the lettuce is incredible"? That happened here. Everything tasted fresh in a way that's hard to explain unless you've had it. And then you find out why--they literally have a hydroponic farm attached. Not just for show either... they do tours, and a lot of what you're eating is coming straight from there. It makes the whole experience feel different in the best way. The portions are huge, super filling, and still somehow feel light and clean. I also grabbed a local blue spirulina kombucha that ended up being one of the best I've had. If you keep wandering toward the back, it turns into this almost maze-like space, and on weekends they do a pop-up called Biscuit Town with breakfast items (including vegan options). It just keeps going. Honestly, I walked in craving a REALLY good salad and left wondering why it's so hard to find places like this. This is one of those spots you go to once and immediately know you'll be back.

"What on earth is honey mustard potato salad?" Oh, only the best potato salad you'll ever eat in your life, if you like honey mustard. The baked beans had a chili flavor to them without compromising the bbq sweet you want from baked beans. The poppy seed slaw wasn't just covered in mayo, it was actually refreshing and a nice complimentary side to the uber flavorful bbq mains. And the homemade ice cream was insane alongside the bread pudding. It's a bummer someplace like this is in the middle of nowhere and not closer to more people. We were seated first, yet tables seated after us were greeted and served coffee before we were even acknowledged. Our waitress, Rachel, only came over after we had been sitting for quite some time and I began looking around to get someone's attention. When she finally approached, I politely mentioned that other guests seated after us already had coffee and said it was unfortunate. Instead of responding professionally or apologetically, she took an attitude toward it, which made the interaction uncomfortable. The situation could and should have been handled much better with simple acknowledgment and courtesy. After that exchange, she walked over to another waiter to complain about or discuss the situation, but stopped when she noticed I was watching. Our total bill was $92, and although I thought about tipping 2¢, I still tipped $9 (10%) because we did manage to have a good time and the food itself was good. That said, had the service been more professional, she would have easily received a minimum $30 tip. As we were walking out, someone walking in asked if the food was good, and I told them yes and even recommended the deluxe biscuits and gravy. The food is delicious. Can't lie about that. However, as a paying customer, I don't and won't tolerate dismissive or rude service. Great food, but the service needs improvement. He made excellent cocktail suggestions. He looked after our group without being overly doting. Just a gem of a human. We tried approximately 9 cocktails during our visit. Did I mention we were at brunch! I highly recommend the peach bite and the Side Car. Every cocktail is thoughtfully made and well executed. They offer a small brunch menu along with the regular menu. I usually always get chilaquiles when they are available. But today the ruby trout and grits sounded perfect. This dish was amazing!! The trout was thin with crispy skin. The grits were creamy and delicious. The dish is topped with a house made radish pico and salsa macha. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich that was paired with the crispiest breakfast potatoes I've ever had. The burger and fries are also a good option. The seasoning on the fries is next level.
