We came to Chris's Jewelery because they are known to be very trustworthy and good at what they do compared to other jewelers on Fremont. We need two rings fixed. They looked at the rings under a magnifier and were able to determine which prongs on the rings were compromised. They took pictures as proof of intake condition and created documentation. The process was a little lengthy and we were probably in the store just under an hour. They fixed my wife's wedding ring that was missing a prong and one of my rings that needed all prongs replaced. Looking at he quality of repair under a loop, I thought they did a very good job. They have great customer service and I felt they didn't have preconceptions of persons based on their color. Being a person of color, I've experienced poor service at a different Fremont jeweler. We were very happy with their services and will continue to patronize their business. read more

I hate leaving negative reviews, but this place literally stood us up! We were really excited to get my engagement ring from them because of their glowing Yelp reviews, and made an appointment with them several days in advance. But when we drove over at our appointment time, we saw that the location was closed because an employee was exposed to COVID. I was disappointed that they didn't even bother to contact us. Instead of taking 30 seconds to write an email saying "There was an emergency, the meeting today's cancelled", they let us waste an hour driving over there from Dublin and back. Something similar happened to me once before with an ice cream place in a shopping mall -- I drove over at my pick-up time only to see that it was closed because of a medical emergency. Later that day, the owner called me and apologized, and offered me a few pints of free ice cream. I happily picked it up and remember this experience fondly. Nothing like this ever happened with Chris's Jewelry. They didn't apologize. They eventually returned our calls to reiterate to us that they were closed for the next few weeks because of COVID exposure, but they made no attempt to accommodate or reschedule our cancelled appointment (whether through Zoom or otherwise). We ended up going with another jeweler and loved our experience with them!! So you know what, I gave Chris's Jewelry an extra star because we never would've discovered them if this hadn't happened. TLDR; I can't believe a freaking ice cream store in a mall respected my time more than Chris's Jewelry did. read more

There's many reviews on here about the jewelry. But not about the gold buying. So I'm going to review my experience. I had a tough a time finding a gold buyer that deals with gold dental caps. Upon coming to Chris's I understand fully why 98% of the gold buying places won't accept it. It's because back in the old days dental places used pure gold and something else to make the gold more denser. Because it's gotta stay inside the teeth for a very long time. The other gold buying places do not want to pay top dollar because of this. I had a gold bracelet and a tiny bit of sliver. The guy showed me the rate he was giving to me on the back of a business card. He also broke down the gold percentage rates on each piece. Wow that's a very detailed service. The guy also given me a 20% off coupon for my next visit. This jewelry store exceeded my expectations to the epic level. The price points on their inventory is way better then what you see at the mall. In fact better quality. I saw a couple of things that I liked. But showed my hubby a couple of ideas for Christmas "Hint hint". They do custom jewelry, sliver and fashion jewelry. I saw some watches also. This jewelry store is upmost in integrity. Update.. years later. The watch was "fixed" but only temporarily. I think it broke again just a couple days after my review. I was still on a mission to get it fixed. Again, I took it to another repair shop and they explained to me WHY it couldn't be fixed and it totally made sense. I have since then sold the watch and will never buy another one like that. I wanted to update my review because I have returned to Chris's jewelry for other repairs, and jewelry and have had GREAT experiences. They did not deserve my poor review years ago. I had been looking for a jewelry appraiser for over a year and finally after much frustration, I asked my insurance agent where to go and was referred to Chris' Jewelry in Niles. Many other jewelers will take the jewelry you need appraised and send it out to a third party. I did not want that. At Chris' Jewelry, they were able to appraise it for me, in house, while I waited. They even cleaned it so it looked like new! The appraisal report was completed in 3 days, and I didn't have to leave my ring at the shop. Their staff is very friendly too. I have been here before before covid and was treated better. Needed a repair done and explained I couldn't be in here long sue to being unvaccinated. They didn't seem to care they said they would get me taken care of fast. Instead people who were buying their overpriced jewelry were taken care of. About a month ago I had to get my engagement ring cut off. I had brought my ring in to fix it & resize it. When my finance & I went inside every single employee was so incredibly kind. We ended up talking for about an hour!! At that point I knew I was in amazing hands!! They gave us the highest price to resize, fix & set the stones back in place & that price was so inexpensive I was shocked!! We went back at the time it was ready & jeweler let us know that there was some cracks in the silver. He said we could leave it alone & it should be fine, but if 1 diamond fell out it'd be a domino effect. The crack was due to how old the ring was since it was my fiancés grandmothers ring. I recently took in 3 rings - one for repair and 2 for resizing. The rings that needed resizing are very old family pieces. They carefully inspected them and explained the work that would need to be done on each ring. They did a beautiful job on all 3 pieces, and the new sizing was perfect. One is a black onyx/diamond ring that my aunt wore for years and I doubt had ever been cleaned. It sparkles like it's brand new. I decided to come here after leaving my previous jeweler and I'm mad at myself for not coming here first. I wanted to get my ring cleaned and the prongs checked on my wedding ring. The looked at it under the microscope and showed me the diamonds that are at risk and were moving. I decided to get them re-tipped and it included a hand polish cleaning. He pulled out a book that had all the pricing depending on the type of metal of your ring for the cost which I liked instead of just making up a number like I've seen before. They offer express service for an additional cost which I liked having that option. They also keep everything in house, nothing gets shipped out which is awesome. I selected Chris's Jewelry's Life Time Battery Replacement Option for my Swiss made watch. The results were NOT GOOD. The 1st battery died less than a month. The replaced battery (2nd battery) died about 1.7 months later. The third battery died about 1.5 months later. Each time I returned to Chris's Jewelry for battery replace, we had a friendly conversation in regards to my watch having potential issue(s) (mechanical, etc). Prior to watch battery expire, I did not have any watch issues. I finally went to another reputable (4 star) Fremont Jeweler who replaced my battery - I have not experienced any issues going forward. I think this place is good for repairs but not for selling anything. I took some older pieces in and they weigh your metals away from you and then tell you what it weighs and you're supposed to believe them. This is highly unusual, at most places you can see what it weighs in. It was also weird because I had some chains and they weighed them but didn't careful put them back in the pouches, they were tangled as they were delicate and I had to untangle them when they were given back. I had other pieces with stones weighed that I heard clunked roughly down on the scale too. Didn't feel like they were respectful of my pieces. read more
