From the beginning, he was very responsive and communicative about his services, expectations and things to consider for the big day. As someone who was planning her own wedding and did not have a coordinator, I very much appreciated his guidance and wisdom since he has so much experience with shooting weddings! He was very understanding and patient when it came to details regarding my timeline (which I sent to him only a week before the event). On the day of, we were running late in the morning, but Justin showed up early and even kindly stayed 20 minutes later than scheduled to make sure we could squeeze in all the group pictures that we wanted. Also, to both of our surprises, my uncle showed up with a camera, but Justin was very understanding and accommodating about the matter and made sure both he and my uncle were able to capture shots without getting in each other's ways. Justin did such a wonderful job positioning my husband and me for shots. We did not really come with any ideas in mind, but Justin had such a wide array of poses, both direct and candid, that we absolutely loved. He also did such a great job showcasing both of us individually and fluffing my train/highlighting the beauty of my wedding dress! Andrew, his son and the second photographer, was also so sweet and helped make sure the full effect of my veil was captured on camera. I am also so appreciative that they went out of their way and captured some special moments via video for us to have (we did not have a videographer). Overall, Justin and his team are extremely friendly, professional and flexible with the best possible attitude and careful attention to detail. I cannot believe the sheer amount of pictures that I received from the wedding day and how much time it must have taken them to carefully touch up and edit each and every single photo. Most of my pictures were taken indoors, but the lighting in the photos is immaculate. I am rewriting my review of OC Event Photos because even after four years, looking at our proposal…read morephotos still makes us disappointed and sad. We planned this proposal for about a month with Corey and specifically discussed capturing the actual proposal moment. Unfortunately, the photographer missed a significant part of it and only started recording after my proposal was already underway. This was a once-in-a-lifetime moment that cannot be recreated. The photos themselves were also extremely disappointing. Our faces had heavy, distracting shadows even though this was a summer daytime shoot. We received fewer photos than we expected based on what was promised, and the quality was below what we were expecting. The photographer's attitude made the experience worse. He arrived without even saying hello and left without saying goodbye. For something as personal and important as a proposal, the entire interaction felt cold and unprofessional. When we complained, Corey defended the photographer rather than finding a meaningful way to make things right. After we posted our experience on Yelp, the situation turned into arguments over our review and requests that we remove it. What bothered me most was that there seemed to be more effort put into getting the negative review removed than into resolving why we were unhappy in the first place. We also paid through Venmo, which left us with very limited options when we were unhappy with the service. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend using a payment method that provides purchase protection when hiring any photographer for an important event. Four years later, this still bothers us. Instead of having beautiful photos that bring back a happy memory, we look at them and remember how badly such an important moment was captured. I am not removing my review simply because the business does not like it. This is my experience and my opinion as a customer. For an event that only happens once, I would not trust OC Event Photos again.
