Went here during the holidays to celebrate a birthday. The service was great. The friendly staff made us feel welcome and were very helpful when questioned about menu items and ingredients. Our party ordered different entres.. Lobster Bisque, Caesar salad, New York Strip, House bleu and crab cakes were some of the items we enjoyed. My first time in College Station, Christopher's was the top recommendation from colleagues and friends for hosting a company dinner. College Station isn't a fancy town but Christopher's brings worldly cuisine and service to this quiet college town. Immediately upon arrival the service was attentive and personable. The restaurant is upscale but not overly formal. Business casual is acceptable. Spent a few minutes in the bar while the rest of our group arrived and enjoyed a nice glass of Chardonnay. Only minor disappointment of the night was that our large group had to sit at two round table side by side. The meal turned out well but it would have been nice to been undivided. We started with a few appetizers including the almond-baked brie and fondue. Everything went over well. I ordered one of the specials, the almond crusted trout, served with risotto and broccolini. Trout was cooked perfectly and the sides were well-paired. Service was on par all evening, very attentive and friendly. Christopher's is exactly the kind of restaurant no sane person would ever take me. I'm just too rough-and-tumble for an environment that requires your finest suit to enter, and any table that features candlelight will probably also feature a five-alarm fire the moment I clumsily knock it into a wine cart of some kind. "No respect!" I'll exclaim when they toss me out, taking a cue from the late Rodney Dangerfield. "No respect at all!" This being said, it's no surprise that Christopher's is THE restaurant to visit in the Byran/College Station area if you want a fine dining experience. Oh, sure, you can have a pleasant dinner out at Mesina Hof, but there's no way you'll feel nearly as snooty by the end of the evening. May I recommend the porkchops? They're roasted over an open pit and adorned with spices the likes of which you'll only find in a Frank Herbert novel. The pork chops are life. I'll be totally blunt: I am not a gentleman. The last time I wore a tuxedo was when I acted as a groomsman in my best friend's wedding. When it comes to expensive, suit-and-tie dining, I have very little points of comparison. To be honest, when I visit establishments like this, I'm usually paying more attention to how much better my waiter's outfit looks than mine. The food, to me, is no better or worse than a place like Madden's, but you can certainly expect to pay twice as much at Christopher's as anywhere else you might consider eating. I like to think of Christopher's as a "show off" restaurant. Your mere presence there is generally an elaborate game of, "Who has the fattest wallet?" It's a fun game, to be sure, and one that I've certainly played before, but I'm not naive about what's going on. Take someone to Christopher's if you want to be impressive, because that restaurant was designed to impress. But please, don't eat there by yourself. That's just restaurant masturbation. read more

We came here for Sunday brunch and the ambience is lovely. I wish we had gotten an outside patio table though, ask for one if it's nice outside. The complimentary bread which came with an amazing black olive tapenade and our beignets were our appetizers and was by far the best part of the meal. The tapenade had an amazing infusion of flavor that went really well with 3 different types of bread. The beignets were fluffy, warm, and sweet. I'm from New Orleans and these were pretty close to the real deal. However, the entrees were a disappointment. I had the special, which was a 10 oz ribeye with eggs cooked in your style. I had my eggs fried over well which was perfectly fine. However, my cut of ribeye was quite substandard. While ribeye is my favorite cut of steak because I like the extra flavor that the fat infuses, the cut that I got had almost as much fat on it as actual meat and there was so much sinew in it it was both difficult to cut and unevenly cooked. They also put some sort of salsa over it which completely masks the natural beef flavor I love in ribeyes. My girlfriend had the beef enchiladas and the colored tortillas discolored the entire dish making her eggs and beef appear bloodied, which was rather unappetizing. The beef was also overcooked and dry. Everything except her eggs was also underseasoned, especially the rosemary potatoes. The service was also quite slow and we were neglected for large portions of the meal. We waited 5-10 minutes after we were finished with our meal before someone finally came to give us out check. Overall, we were rather disappointed with our meal especially given the cost. The appetizers were amazing though and was the only redeeming portion of the meal. read more

It's been awhile since I've visited Christopher's W.G. but I can't stop thinking about their Lobster Bisque! The BEST I've ever had. The service, ambiance, food & drink was top notch. When I'm back in the area, I will be back. In addition to the bisque, their steak was AWESOME. It was cooked as requested and had a great taste that could only be achieved with quality aging and expertise. This chef knows his stuff! This is a modified excerpt of a status I posted about a dinner I had here back in November of 2012. "15 minutes later and after a few calls to Christopher's (I'm directionally challenged) we're there. She's already beaming from ear to ear. We are sat down at the table I reserved (a review said to go with table 54 so that's what I did) and it's great- we are seated next to two large door windows outlooking the patio and fireplace. (As the night goes on I find out that it's an excellent seat because we're at the back, so no waiters having to pass us to reach other tables). As we are sat, we are the only one's there except for another small group of three. We get handed a drink menu that's one page of cocktails and three pages of wine and decide on a nice crisp and fruity bottle of Chardonay. We are both poured our first cups, we take a nice sip, and nod to the waiter- confirming our choice (we're pro's at this already). He then comes back with our menu's and we begin to look over the verbosely descriptive entrees. I quickly find the meats part of the menu and select within seconds the Christopher's House Filet. Kimberly is torn between the New Orleans Stuffed Filet and the Pastramied Steelhead Salmon. After a few more visits from our waiter she decides to go with the New Orleans Dish and I inform him that I'd like my steak cooked medium well. She also tells him she'd like the Caesar Salad Carbonara as her first course. While we wait on our food he comes back with an Amuse Bouch- a small piece of bread shaped like a mushroom and filled with some type of cheese inside. I take the first bite and quickly tell Kimberly to take a bite of hers. We both finish these small treats in two bites- so yummy! I almost asked our waiter if we could get a tray of them as an appetizer. But shortly after he brings us two different types of bread slices along with a green paste that he glazes with some purple wine if I'm not mistaken. We both have a few bites and then decide we don't want to ruin our appetite. We talk about tons of things, and time seems to stand still in this evening. We are in a perpetual state of bliss as we laugh and drink more wine. And then the food comes! Oh how I wished I would have taken a picture! Both entrees look superb. Just like the movies when the protagonist is at some fine dining establishment that gives you something that looks pretty but not very filling. Except these dishes are huge. So large in fact that Kimberly can't finish her steak even after an hour of working at it. My steak is perfect. Literally the best steak I've ever had. Cooked exactly with the right amount of red, but the most juicy steak ever. The meat falls as my knife comes down on it. It's effortless. And the potatoes! Complimenting it perfectly along with the nice glaze on the plate. The steak is superb already, but with the glaze that I mop onto it and the potatoes as the after bite... I just close my eyes. Even though I'm not eating Kimberly's dish I can tell she's in heaven too! I could go on but I'll fast forward past the next two glasses of wine we both have to the deserts. I order a Nutella Torte and Kimberly Christopher's Signature Bread Pudding (which looks to fancy almost to call bread pudding). We decide on our desert by seeing each and every one of them, and having them each explained to us in the most exquisite fashion. I love chocolate so my choice was easy. When we get our deserts, I quickly make short work of mine. I've never had so much chocolate packed into such a small desert. I finish it and feel like if I'd had another bite I'd explode. Kimberly comes close, but in all fairness her Bread Pudding was huge.We try to polish off our last cup of wine but it's impossible. We are both too full and too happy already. I leave the tip and we head off. The dinner date was perfect. And Kimberly looked absolutely beautiful. Could not have had a better night if I'd won the lottery. Ten years ago my grad school classmates and I celebrated our degrees at Christopher's. Last night I got to celebrate my engagement there as well. The food and service are both second to none in BCS. We started with the Sicilian capitola, a savory mash up of eggplant, capers and peppers. I had the cornbread chicken with lobster mashed potatoes... Simply excellent flavors perfectly cooked. My new fiancé had the pepper crusted ahi tuna and was just as impressed. We decided to pass on desert, but Christopher's would not have it and brought us a pair of chocolate dipped strawberries in a cream sauce with their congratulations. I finally visited Christopher's on November 16th. The ambiance was inviting and had an historic feel to it. The wait staff was on-point, and I even observed the owner or manager-on-duty making sure an elementary age girl felt like she was receiving the entire adult dining experience as her parents were. We ordered two glasses of the white wine sangria which was blended beautifully. Next, we requested the "Rum Grilled Shrimp" as an appetizer. Needless to say, they were delicious. Then, my date ordered the "South American Marinated Beef" while I requested my favorite steak, the "Campfire NY Strip". Both dishes were incredible, though if I had to choose again, I would select my date's dish instead. It was marinated to perfection and melted in my mouth when I tried it. Finally, we ordered dessert. My date ordered some sort of chocolate cake which was very rich while I had a berry and ice cream combination. Again, both were excellent, but if I had to push rewind, I would've ordered as my date did. Overall, this was a superfluous experience. I shall definitely return in the future. read more

It does not get any better than this in BCS! I have eaten here a half dozen times and tried something different each time. Steak, fish, pasta etc. Every dish has been scrumptious! The wine list is just as good as the food! The dessert tray is overwhelmingly amazing. You can't go wrong! The service is the best in town too! What else can I say?! The beef tenderloin huevos rancheros enchiladas.... I can't even remember the combination of deliciousness that went into the name... I don't even have words. SO good. This dish may have ruined brunch for me for life. Essentially its amazing beef tenderloin enchiladas, topped with a fried egg and serrano sauce.... you won't begin to have room for the roasted potatoes or side of fruit it comes with.. not that you'll even be concerned about them. Pretty much everything on the brunch menu looked great.. a couple of other people at our table got the chicken salad which they gave rave reviews.. the bloody mary my dad ordered was also pretty impressive. Service was good, though a little on the slow side. Bryan/College Station doesn't really have a brunch scene at this point, but Christopher's is doing a solid job at setting the bar. read more

I've been to Christopher's a few times and have always been very pleased. The service is excellent, the ambiance is romantic and inviting, and the food is fantastic! I particularly recommend the Blackened Shrimp and crawfish fondue. It's really rich and full of flavor, and not to mention a good amount of food for the price. The house filet is delicious and cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. The demi glace is so decadent and pairs perfectly with the steak and fried crawfish. I really wanted asparagus with my steak but it wasn't on the menu, so I asked the waiter if I could order them and he said absolutely. They brought out a plate asparagus and charged only $1 for it! You definitely get your money's worth. Even if you aren't looking for a big meal, this is a great place to go for drinks and dessert. The bellini is tasty, but a bit expensive. I always go for wine, and they have a pretty good selection. The best part about Christopher's is the dessert. While I can't remember the name of this dish, it's the best dessert I've ever had. It's some kind of crunchy praline cookie, with tons of fruit and a creamy mousse. There's a picture of it on their website in the awards section. I'm only giving it 3 stars because I continue to be less than wowed when we go to Christopher's. Ambiance is dressy casual, but really this is an old house turned into a restaurant. The place is clean and they've done a nice job keeping the sound down, but it feels like its due some updating. The food was good, service great. I appreciate the diversity of the menu and the fresh foods. Today I got the eggs Benedict, served with beef tenderloin and a poached egg. It was all very good. My husband ordered the Shrimp Bisque appetizer and especially liked it since it was a little spicy. He ordered the brunch salmon and thought it overall just ok. Couple things frustrated me about this overall experience however. We were there to celebrate an occasion, and when calling to make the reservation, they tried to get my credit card to hold a table for over 8 on Sunday morning. I didn't care to do that as I don't make reservations for no reason. Then I ask about them making a cake for the occasion, and they just recommended the dessert tray. That's fine, I could bring my own cake, but there is a "plating fee." Ok. Finally at the restaurant, while I understand its an upscale restaurant, there's no changing table in the restrooms. Maybe it could be a suggestion as people with children eat there, I'm surely not the first to feel this way. Obviously for me, it's the little things. Wow, this place is not only a find for the BCS area, but seriously its one of the best restaurants I've ever dined at anywhere... from New York, to Dallas, to San Francisco, Chicago... I'm serious, this place is really impressive with the unique menu items and flavor combinations, but also the service is top notch. It's not cheap but when you're done you'll agree with me that if it cost 2x as much it would still be a deal, it's amazing. The chef is a top tier type, and his team is executing his plan at the highest level. The brunch is a fun way to go try out Christoper's. We've been for dinner several times too. The building is interesting, an old house rebuilt & added on to create the restaurant. A side room off to the left of the entry hall has these great monkey sconces & matching chandelier... We went to Christopher's for dinner and found the ambiance to be very nice, the wait staff to be polite, attentive, and well trained, and the overall mood very classy but not too "stuffy." Although we did not have a reservation, our wait was not very lengthily, however I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The restaurant has different "rooms" (I was told it was an old farm house at one time and each room is "themed".) We were seated in the "Casablanca Room" that had a piano with live music, and a grand old bar. For dinner I had the Stuffed Duck with Root Vegetables and it was delicious!--tender and juicy with a nice crispy crust, a very tasty sauce (not too rich), however I did find the vegetables to be a bit under cooked. Even so, they were still delicious. Other orders at my table were the Cornbread Crusted Chicken--juicy and perfectly cooked, Foie Gras-Black Truffle Mousse, Little Neck Clams--best clams ever!, and a few grilled shrimp. They were all very good and would highly recommend! Also, we had homemade bread served with our meals with a very tasty olive tapenade. For dessert, a delicious crème Brulé finished off my meal. The prices were a bit on the high end, but expected for a restaurant of this caliber. Giant pieces of Steak are the standards here. Everything is giant, but hey this is Texas after all. We had a large group, and perhaps 75% ordered steaks (they have a few types), and the rest ordered fish - everyone was happy with what came out and the service was top notch (at first). We were a very large group and most everyone was happy with the food. The deserts were also quite good. Not mind blowing but darned yummy. Expect to drop $30 or more for your average entree here, and there are not a lot of vegetarian options, but hey this is Texas. With a large group like ours, we did chat and linger over several bottles of wine, desert, and after dinner drinks, and I have to say that they did something that is pretty unacceptable for a large table. They dimmed the lights, and sent a guy to polish glasses with a fervor that one might expect to see in a movie or a cartoon. Wow!! we come here often and the new look is awesome. There is a great outdoor seating area with fire pit and porch seating. The bar is remodeled is actually a bar now. Dominick is a great bartender. Not bad for a high end College Station restaurant. The food is pretty good and the waiters are helpful. Unfortunately, I'm not sure a lot of the college kids "get" nice restaurants and ruin the appeal by showing up in flip flops and shorts. I'm a huge proponent of dressing comfortably, but not to the detriment of the evening. It is considered the premiere restaurant of College Station, and to that end, it succeeds. However, now that I live in Houston, I'm a little spoiled and want a bit more. Things to not miss out: their wine tasting, champagne tasting, and their specialty dinners. All are a bit pricey, but well worth the price for a nice night out. Plus, where else in College Station will you be treated that well? read more

I have been to this restaurant a few times with my wife. It is a lovely place to eat. The atmosphere is nice, the staff is normally very polite, and the food is always delicious. I do have a few complaints. The staff started sweeping next to my leg with a broom. It was near closing time, but I was spending at least $200 for me and my wife to eat there. I do not want a broom sweeping me out of the restaurant. Also, I ordered the bread pudding after our meals. It tasted like it had been microwaved. I'm not sure how many of you can tell, but I can definitely tell the difference between some thing baked and some thing nuked. I was disgusted and we left over half of the dessert on the table. An exceptional restaurant in an unlikely locale. I've celebrated many milestone moments at this restaurant (graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, family reunions). Everytime, I've tried a different entree and I've never been disappointed. Our favorite appetizer to order was the crawfish/lobster fondue. So tasty, and a great sharing plate. The service has always been impeccable. My water glass was always completely full, and the waitstaff is very attentive. All the times I've gone for dinner, they had someone playing the piano, it was very lovely. The prices aren't cheap, but the dishes, atmosphere, service and experience are well worth the price. Christoper's World Grille was the first high end restuarant in BCS. They have a very friendly and knowledgable waitstaff. They have great food and it's a great atmosphere. It's not nearly as stuffy as some high end restuarants you would find in Houston which I appreciate. It is a nice place so it is customary you wouldn't show up in cargos shorts and flip flops but this is BCS and there is a College so don't be surprised. Christopher himself is from the area, worked all over and was gracious enough to bring good food and a nice restuarant to a small town. So for that I want to thank Christopher. Now i've been to this restuarant at least 10 times over the course of several years and I have never had less than a wonderful experience. Most of the meals come with a mix of his vegetables. Not mixed vegetables, but instead of choosing 2 sides you get a small amount of each of his sides. I love variety and I think this is a very smart and tasty way to go. The Shinor Bock 5 onion soup is wonderful, as is the crawfish salad, the fondue, and really anything you want to put into your mouth. I will say this I am a big lover of really good steaks and I have had a better steak at resturants specializing in steaks. Christophers still makes a very good steak. Anyway the bottom line is I feel Christopher's should be given a lot of respect. It's nice to come eat at a restuarant that isn't a chain like all the other restuarants popping up all over the areat. instead it's it's a beautiful place with wonderful innovative food. We had a great time at Christopher's!!! We made a reservation to eat here after the Alabama game and what a great decision that was. From the exquisite food to the upscale atmosphere, this place is absolutely amazing. Karen, our waitress, was the absolute best and I would recommend her to anyone and she even gave us a tour of the restaurant as it used to be an old house. We also got to meet the chef himself, Christopher, and that was a neat experience in itself and his story is quite astounding. Wow, what a treat! My family (party of 7) arrived on a Sunday for brunch. None of us had dined here before, but had heard amazing things! The hearsay is true! This truly is a gem in Bryan! The Blackened Shrimp & Crawfish Fondue was to die for. I could have had this as my entrée and would have been extremely satisfied. The brunch menu offers a little bit of everything to satisfy everyone's different tastes. My husband and I both decided to order the House Filet and added crab meat. WOW! The generous portion of fresh, lump crab meat was spectacular! Much more crab than we were expecting! Tenderloin was cooked exactly as requested. Everyone enjoyed their meals! This was a special birthday and Mother's Day celebration and we were not disappointed. Reservations were honored immediately as we were led to a quiet corner table. Wonderful waiter - friendly, knowledgable, just the right pace, never rushed. Melted brie was delicious and the lobster bisque ranks as one of the best I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed their entrees (Delmonico steak, shrimp three ways and marinated steak with enchilada) We were pretty full but had to sample the desserts and were glad we did. went to a A & M vs. Auburn football game and came here for Sunday brunch after a loss to the Tigers. My step daughter used to work here, so likely why we went, but will ALWAYS be on my "must visit" when in Bryan or College Station, Tx. not an inexpensive place, especially for Texas. i'm from Cali so i expect the pricey stuff, but in Texas, most of dining is fairly reasonable. Christopher's was pricey for Texas. HOWEVER, worth every penny. I had an awesome brunch, there were 6 of us and ALL raved about how great their meal was. They have many little rooms so it's nice and quiet. For fine dining, this is the place to go! From start to finish, you feel as if you had been welcomed into a warm, hospitable home where your host is a world class chef and you get to enjoy a sumptuous feast! Everything we tasted was done to perfection but with a slightly different take on it. Christopher is a master of sauces and it shows through on his salads and entrees. Wonderful! If the weather cooperates, eat outside on the porch or on the beautifully landscaped terrace -- it only adds to the pleasure. Take a tour of the house, too. Definitely meets all the high expectations put forth! My family and I went went for brunch the day after my wedding and everyone loved what they got. I got the spaghetti and meatball. It was probably the most delicious spaghetti I've had! The spaghetti had a hole in it making it super chewy and the meatball was made of wagyu beef making it a little tougher than you'd expect because were so used to lots of breadcrumbs in typical meatballs, but this was amazing, there's also a dollop if mozzarella in the meatball. My husband got the fried chicken and waffles. The waffles were meh but HOLY COW that fried chicken was so well seasoned I don't even care how bad he waffles were lol (dry almost stale, but chicken made up for it but time). I have driven past this restaurant for 11 years. Finally went with my wife. Fun very glad I did. Very good food and honestly not as expensive as some other fancy restaurants in the area. The waiter was personable and knew the menu. I'm impressed and didn't think I would be. I don't know, I think I expected a pretty plate and food I didn't care for but I got a pretty plate with deliciousness. I really liked the beef tenderloin and enchiladas. Sauce was fantastic.
