So Christy Mae's is one of those restaurants we come to for a bit, then wane off of it, as we decide we have had enough then 6-8 mo later we come again, enjoy the ambience and food and do it again for a few months. We appreciate that the food quality is consistent. The service is friendly and nice. They have a great menu and there is nothing on it, I don't like. [OK, I can't consume chicken but when I could, I loved their Chicken items!] Today I was wanting a Tuna Croissant -Le Tuna. It is the same Tuna Salad Recipe it has been for ages. I chose to request the Shredded cheese be melted. Delicious! Dan today had the Chicken Fried Steak. While it isn't as big as some in the city, it was okay. Christy Mae's is another New Mexico classic that brings back wonderful memories for me. As a child, I remember the little treasure chest where you could pick out a small toy after your meal, and that sense of nostalgia always comes rushing back when I dine here as an adult. I especially enjoy ordering the classic grilled cheese and soup--perfectly named the Cold Day Warmer. Their spiced iced tea is another favorite of mine. The appetizers are solid as well, particularly the chips and queso and the fried combo with mozzarella sticks and zucchini. The cornbread is delicious, and the burgers are consistently good. I lived in Albuquerque for ten years before moving to Los Angeles. This week I worked in Albuquerque, so I decided to visit my favorite restaurants, if they were still there. Christy Mae's is still there, still wonderful, and still a favorite. I used to eat at this wonderful place once a week and I wish I could still do that. The service is always great and efficient. There is definitely something on this menu that will satisfy you, because Christy Mae's specializes in comfort foods like chicken pot pie, chicken fried steak, breakfast, and most anything else you would want. I get either the chicken pot pie or the Le Chicken (chicken salad with nuts, celery, and sliced grapes) on a buttery soft croissant. I paired this with the green chile chicken stew and potato salad for a completely delicious and filling meal. Of course I have to have dessert and the peanut butter pie spoke to me. Loudly! The decor is cute and country, a bit like a local Cracker Barrel, but much MUCH better. The prices are quite reasonable so you can take the entire family for a satisfying meal. I went here for lunch on September 16, 2025. My first visit. There's a lot of parking available and good signage. Inside there are nice big windows resulting in lots of natural light. The decor is casual. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The menu is an interesting blend of American diner food with Mexican food choices. The special today was tuna melt, and I had it with a side of potato salad. My dining companion had a very lovely sandwich called the harvest. You can see from the photos, that it's stacked high with lots of different vegetables and she described it as delicious. The tuna melt was nicely done and I really enjoyed the potato salad. Lunchtime & here we are. this place is good ole country style comfort food. A break from places we normally go to. Lots on the menu. In addition to comfort food, NM cuisine is represented. It's the Reuben Sandwich and Chicken Tenders. The Reuben Sandwich was piled high with primarily meat. It almost seems like veggies were an afterthought. Of course there's another slice of bread in between The piles of meat. Mine was messy - for me not a bad thing. It was definitely moist. The tenders were good, & moist. Their consistency was similar to what you might get from some fast food places. Again not a complaint. I can see why they're busy and been around for 40 yrs. While in town for work, we were looking for some a homestyle dinner on a chilly night. That led us to Christy Mae's. The ambiance is definitely old south with a Cracker Barrel-esque interior. The patrons in the restaurant skewed a little older and many appeared to be locals. We ordered the chicken pot pie and beef stew, both with cornbread. The chicken pot pie was full of tender chicken and vegetables in a cream sauce topped with a flaky pastry dough. It was a good size portion and very tasty and seasoned well. The beef stew was similarly seasoned well but a little light on the beef compared to the pot pie. The flavor of the broth was great though. Each soup was served with two slices of fruit and some honey cornbread. The cornbread was moist, tender, and has a sweetness from the honey. Slathered in butter and topped with a little salt, it was a delicious bite. We ordered some carrot cake to go and it was pretty standard. Good, sweet icing, but nothing that was amazing. Service was good until the very end. Our server forgot about the cake and didn't see me try to get his attention multiple times. Not sure what happened there but we went to the front to pay and ordered the cake from the cashier. read more

Had a quick bite here a couple of days ago. Driven by a million times and decided to try it out. The service quick, attentive, and very nice. I can tell this is a fave of the locals with a great age range of customers. I had "The Sheepherder" a sandwich/wrap of corned beef, green chile, Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomatoes in flour tortilla. Since the 1980's when we found them, they have always had a folksy country charm. without all the folksy country judgments. The food is never so amazing im shouting its existence from the trees, but its always solid, and warm, and really comforting like a big hug.. It so often shoots under my radar being not new, and not exotic. but really pretty much everything they make is good, the place is always pretty well staffed, and friendly. We went on a Sunday and the restaurant had a pretty casual, quiet, family oriented, chill vibe similar to Village Inn. Service was quite friendly and welcoming. Finally I found a restaurant in Albuquerque that focuses on American comfort food. So I've been here twice in the last week. The first time was with three other gal pals. The second time I was on my own. To be honest on my first visit I had a burger with fries and it was a great disappointment. The burger was just a traditional frozen patty that had no flavor and was actually overcooked. The fries were large country fries and they were a little soggy and cold. However my friends all loved the food that they got. So I thought I would come back and try again. On my second visit I got the alligator pair I did post a photo it's basically a half avocado with a salad around it some salad dressing of your choice and either chicken salad or tuna salad on top. this is the spot. The service here is very good they're very accommodating. The prices are very good as well for what you get the portions are huge. All in all I'm pretty happy I think I will be coming here a few more times to check out more of their items especially their pot pie. read more

I chose to order Aunt Jane's Smothered Chicken, which came with two pieces of chicken breasts topped with grilled onions, mushrooms and melted jack cheese. This was our first time here. We were sat immediately and greeted by our very nice and sweet server. It is a very casual place, and it seemed that everyone knew everyone, and it was very welcoming. Because my husband had checked in on FB, we each received a free cup of soup. We got the tomato and the chicken with green chili soup. Sadly, the tomato soup didn't have very much seasoning, but our server did offer to bring us another chicken with green chili soup. I believe that everything is made in-house, so perhaps the reason for the soup being a bit gelatinous was because of too much corn starch or flour? My husband had the Country Fried Steak with spinach and mashed potatoes. I had Emily Lynn's Turkey and green chili Pot Pie with corn bread. We taste each other's food and agree that everything tastes good, like Moms cooking. Our ice tea was kept refilled, and our server, an slightly older woman, was very attentive. We took a couple of croissants home and ate them the next day. They were the most flavorful and fresh croissants that we've had in ABQ so far. I've been to Christy Mae's before but it's been a while. Went there this past Saturday, took a few minutes to get seated. I think the hostess needed a bathroom break but it wasn't too big a deal. She came back and took me to a table. I sat down and immediately saw chunks of 'meat' on the floor right under me. (By the way, there were quite a few people wearing Christy Mae T-shirts behind the drink station chatting) The waitress came eventually to take my order and I asked her to either clean up the gross mess at my feet or get me another table. She vacuumed it up right away. Took my order, Taco salad - sort of tacoy, and I moved on. When checking out I told the cashier about the mess under the table.
