I placed a takeout order of a chicken pot pie and a turkey with green chile pot pie. I added in a peanut butter cookie, my wife's favorite, as well. While I was waiting, I enjoyed the homy ambiance, from the antique stove to the displays everything seemed welcoming and comfortable. A few minutes of waiting and a paper bag almost overflowing with two pies and two pieces of cornbread was delivered to me by one of the very friendly staff. Both pies were very good but unless I'm really wanting green chile, I'm jumping on the chicken pie. My wife's favorite wasn't excited about either. She doesn't like all the vegetables. (Think meat, potatoes and gravy for her.) Personally I like the abundant vegetables added to the pies. The cornbread was excellent, especially with the honey butter it came with. These pies are huge, the cornbread a very good size slice and the cookie was about 6" diameter. There is definitely something on this menu that will satisfy you, because Christy Mae's specializes in comfort foods like chicken pot pie, chicken fried steak, breakfast, and most anything else you would want. I get either the chicken pot pie or the Le Chicken (chicken salad with nuts, celery, and sliced grapes) on a buttery soft croissant. I paired this with the green chile chicken stew and potato salad for a completely delicious and filling meal. Of course I have to have dessert and the peanut butter pie spoke to me. Loudly! I went here for lunch on September 16, 2025. My first visit. There's a lot of parking available and good signage. Inside there are nice big windows resulting in lots of natural light. The decor is casual. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The menu is an interesting blend of American diner food with Mexican food choices. The special today was tuna melt, and I had it with a side of potato salad. My dining companion had a very lovely sandwich called the harvest. You can see from the photos, that it's stacked high with lots of different vegetables and she described it as delicious. The tuna melt was nicely done and I really enjoyed the potato salad. Lunchtime & here we are. this place is good ole country style comfort food. A break from places we normally go to. Lots on the menu. In addition to comfort food, NM cuisine is represented. It's the Reuben Sandwich and Chicken Tenders. The Reuben Sandwich was piled high with primarily meat. It almost seems like veggies were an afterthought. Of course there's another slice of bread in between The piles of meat. Mine was messy - for me not a bad thing. It was definitely moist. The tenders were good, & moist. While in town for work, we were looking for some a homestyle dinner on a chilly night. That led us to Christy Mae's. The ambiance is definitely old south with a Cracker Barrel-esque interior. The patrons in the restaurant skewed a little older and many appeared to be locals. We ordered the chicken pot pie and beef stew, both with cornbread. The chicken pot pie was full of tender chicken and vegetables in a cream sauce topped with a flaky pastry dough. It was a good size portion and very tasty and seasoned well. The beef stew was similarly seasoned well but a little light on the beef compared to the pot pie. The flavor of the broth was great though. Each soup was served with two slices of fruit and some honey cornbread. The cornbread was moist, tender, and has a sweetness from the honey. Slathered in butter and topped with a little salt, it was a delicious bite. We ordered some carrot cake to go and it was pretty standard. Good, sweet icing, but nothing that was amazing. Service was good until the very end. Our server forgot about the cake and didn't see me try to get his attention multiple times. Not sure what happened there but we went to the front to pay and ordered the cake from the cashier. read more

I can tell this is a fave of the locals with a great age range of customers. I had "The Sheepherder" a sandwich/wrap of corned beef, green chile, Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomatoes in flour tortilla. Everything was hot, fresh, and tasted homemade. The soup was creamy and well seasoned. The pot pie had a flakey crust, and the filling was absolutely delicious. Finally I found a restaurant in Albuquerque that focuses on American comfort food. So I've been here twice in the last week. The first time was with three other gal pals. The second time I was on my own. To be honest on my first visit I had a burger with fries and it was a great disappointment. The burger was just a traditional frozen patty that had no flavor and was actually overcooked. The fries were large country fries and they were a little soggy and cold. However my friends all loved the food that they got. So I thought I would come back and try again. On my second visit I got the alligator pair I did post a photo it's basically a half avocado with a salad around it some salad dressing of your choice and either chicken salad or tuna salad on top. this is the spot. The service here is very good they're very accommodating. The prices are very good as well for what you get the portions are huge.
