After over a decade of skiing with my old gear I finally decided it was time to do a full refresh - ski, boots, poles, goggles, bindings, apparel, .. A friend who is local recommended Christy Sports and I looked into it and decided to use their "test" program at the beginning of a ski trip, whereby you basically demo skis for some credit towards purchase. I planned to do this over two days, and purchase at the end of the second day. Long story short, or maybe still long - * the guy who did my boot fitting was AWESOME, his name is Dave, I had confirmed he would be working at the end of my second day when I would come in and purchase * I swapped out my ski on the first day, but apparently the store didn't register that I had intended to have this be a 2d thing. Sitting at lunch on day 2, kids/wife, I let a call from Christy go to VM, first, then I call back. Both the voicemail and my follow-up lead me to the same employee treating me like I'm a deadbeat out of the gate, like I'm part of his peer group and just tried to rip him off, not slowing down to simply ask me what was going on. * returning to the store, the same employee handles my intake, and starts giving me grief about the skis I returned the day before having damage. I thought to myself "dude, I'm not your therapist," - I didn't know about any damage to the ski, and I would have expected there is a process in place that doesn't rely on employees venting at customers. Could I really be the first person to inadvertently damage a rental ski? Come on. There has to be something in the fine print of the contract I signed? At one extreme, I could have been asked to pay for the sub-100$ repair, at the other, they could have let it go in light of the bigger and fully-marked-up sale that was incoming. In either case, I'd expect a DV store/brand to conduct itself with class, right? I did talk to the manager, she mentioned she'd told the guy to cool off, and she tried to keep the focus on the damaged demo ski while she rang me up. A little gruff, I suspect the manager is great handling the day/day chaos of running a busy seasonal location on most days most of the time. I got unlucky and exposed the need for some basic service onboarding / corporate training, perhaps. I left with my great new gear, but feeling icky from having transacted in a gross way. I doubt anything will come of this review, and I do love my skis, love the service I got from the first guy who did my boots, and have to come to laugh about the grumpy guy who lives on forever in my voicemail archive. read more

I rented skis at the location in Silver Lake. Decided to try Elan demo skis for a day. I was told they were "all around good skis" like my usual Blizzard black pearls but they weren't. They wouldn't carve on the icey parts of the slopes. I fell twice and I usually don't fall. The 2nd time my helmet broke and I had to be seen by a medic on the slope. I'm fine except for some bruising on my bottom and pain in my neck but it made me upset that they didn't even offer me a discount for me to get a new helmet or for my next rental. All I know is that I'm never demo-ing skis again. This was my 2nd time demoing skis and it was the 2nd bad experience to convince me that I just should stick with the black pearls. read more

BEST SERVICE EVER- I'll never EVER buy ski boots anywhere else! Got back into my boots purchased last year at Christy Sports- they were still uncomfortable and causing severe arch cramps. Stopped into the shop at Snowbird and the boot fitter decided they were simply just too small. They IMMEDIATELY offered me a new pair of boots as well as a new pair of custom footbeds at no charge. I only paid the minimal price difference between the new and old boots. The new are SOOOO comfortable and feel so much better. Only ski shop I go to and have gone to for over 15 years. I've skied all my life but switched to snow boarding because of the uncomfortable boots I experienced. I found Christy sports and Davin, and am now back to skiing. I just got custom liners from George and they are so comfortable! So happy with them. Their fleet of skis that are available for demo are the best in town, if not the country. Just about every single ski for sale is available to demo before you buy it. You want it? They have it. And if they don't, they find it for you. They truly go above and beyond for their customers. Their rental equipment is also incredibly nice and well taken care of. Dawn is awesome as well. She's always so helpful in helping me and my family find everything we need. Their merchandise and soft goods department is amazing. Location: this DV location is right in the Silverlake Lodge Village, slopeside. Rentals: they order ski equipment rentals that you can book online or go in person to pickup. This shop also offers "test demo" equipment for top of the line new skis and boots if you're looking to buy from them. Price is fair. They also offer 2 days rental credit (~$150) that can be applied to new equipment purchase. Store: the technical staff there is very knowledgeable and patient with questions. Excellent selection of top of the line skis, boots, helmet and clothes. Matt and Bruce were both super helpful. After I demoted skis for 3 days, I ended up buying skies and bindings from them. It's spring, so lots of sale on current year equipment. While their sale prices is not as good as some of the shops in Park City or online, with the rental credit, it comes out to about the same. They also carry the Knee Bindings brand, which helps prevent ACL/knee injuries. Very happy with my experience there and will be back next time I'm in DV. read more

We don't ski often so we were unsure of the process of fitting rental gear. While the guys working were generally congenial, we found out the next day as we were putting our skis on that they didn't properly fit the skis and had to walk half a mile back to a shop to get them fixed. When we let them know what happened, the worker just said "bummer" and didn't offer a partial refund or anything else. Will surely be going to one of the competitors next time we rent. read more

All the below has been relayed to the overall Christy's customer service number in great detail. So I was in the Deer Valley store on Dec 20 2020 to buy skis-I had demo'd two different types of skis the previous three days--and after I told someone I wanted to buy skis she told me to wait for 'George'. When George walked up he asked me the types of bindings I wanted and after I figured it out and I filled out paperwork, we went to the register. I asked him about taking the demo days off the price and he snapped back 'you get two days off, it's clearly written in the form'. This was my first sign would be a horrible customer service experience. I told him 'oh no worries, I had just asked the guy I got demos from the day prior if I only got the number of days I demo'd on a particular ski off (so I demo'd one ski for one day and another ski for two days but bought the skis from the one day demo, Would I only get the one day I demo'd off) and he told me that I 'get all the days off.' That's a direct quote. 'All the days off' George snapped back again, in the most condescending manner possible, 'I guarantee he wouldn't say that'. I go 'yes he did, I don't actually care, I only asked the question bc this is what I was told.' George snapped back again in an even more horrific and condescending tone ' he would never say that, I guarantee it'. I replied 'you were not there, you do not know the conversation that occurred.' George once again gave me the same 'guarantee' line and told me 'people try to argue with me all the time about this;' and I replied, 'I'm not arguing, and I don't even care about the third day of demo off, I am just telling you what I was told and this is why I asked the question.' I told George again 'you were not there, you have no idea what our conversation was and this is what I was told' and that we should drop this pointless back and forth. It doesn't matter what my conversation with another employee was, for George or anyone to speak to any customer, no matter if they were spending $1 or a large sum, in that condescending and disrespectful and horrific tone; and Christy's should not want any person who represents their company in such a horrific manor to work for them, period. All George had to say was 'I think there was a misunderstanding, it's just two days of demo price off the sale price. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.' And it would've ended right there. But for George to insist on how a conversation went without him being there, and remain as wrong as the earth is round, is beyond reprehensible. When I picked up my purchased skis two days later, I was waiting in line to ask an employee where to pick them up. While in line, a UPS driver was explaining to an older woman that he had packages to deliver. She goes 'I have nothing to pick up, go next door. This is the wrong place to pick up items.' He had to re-explain the same message again: he had packages to deliver and where should he drop them off. She goes 'Oh you can drop them off here. And by the way put a mask on.' At this point what she didn't realize is another employee had already asked him to put a mask on and he said he forgot and the other employee said to not worry about it and to remember next time. Also, what she also didn't realize, and I spoke to him after about it, is he has medical conditions that lawfully exempt him from mask wearing. So after she told him to put a mask on, he turned around and started to walk out when this same person yelled, also in a super condescending and demeaning manner 'There's lots of people in here, wear a mask.' The UPS driver turned around and said 'I heard you the first time you said it.' Bottom line is there seems to be a manner in which some of the Deer Valley employees interact with customers and other people which is completely unacceptable. I have already relayed this story to the overall Christy's customer service number and provided names and my information for anyone in corporate Christy's to contact me. I, for one, will never purchase anything from this Deer Valley Christy's ever again and probably will never buy anything from any Christy's again. I will also be telling everyone I know to do the same. Christy's should be appalled that these individuals are representing their company in such a horrible manner. Bottom line: DO NOT SHOP AT CHRISTY's IN DEER VALLEY. Plenty of other stores to find the same things at. If I could give negative stars I would. I read more

Go to the one in Park City instead. Rentals are 40% cheaper for a 5 minute drive. Over a week the savings add up, for a family of 4 it's $400-$500, depending on what you get. No knock on the people here, the process here was easy, the guys setting us up were super helpful, the skis were good. But it doesn't justify the extra cost. read more

I bought my first pair of boots from Christys and had a great experience. George took the time to fit me properly over the week making adjustments where necessary. I even purchased the custom orthodics which made the world of difference. What stood out was George's willingness to make continual adjustments to the boots, which typically cost a lot over the course of the week while i ski'd. They were more than patient with me and attentive to my requests even after the big sale. The boot fit promise is real and worth any premium, though I felt like i got the best deal I could on my new boots. When dealing with ski gear, which is a a very personal and complicated purchase, they really do amazing work. Came in for a new pair of boots at the beginning of the season not knowing what I'd get into, And thank god I met George. With two different sized and shaped feet he worked his magic and got me the best fit I've ever experienced. Half way through the season he contacted me and asked about the fit. There was some adjustments he though would benefit my skiing. I came back to the shop and within 30 minutes he further fine tuned my boots and wow. My skiing has never been better. Hands down the best customer experience, follow-up, and customer service I've ever experienced. This guy takes it a step further when he issues his "personal warranty".
