Disappointing in they only accept Deltal Dental for insurance. I guess we aren't ever going back.

So my children were patients at Kalamazoo Family Dentistry. In 2019, I suffered a nervous…read morebreakdown and had to be hospitalized for Complex PTSD, clinical depression and acute alcoholism. I was a police officer, sergeant and SWAT operator for 20 years and the job took its toll on me and on my family. During this time, my youngest son was treated at KPD and there was a small co pay of approximately $100 owed. The bill unintentionally was overlooked, while I recovered, had to medically retire from my career that defined who I was and my family was recovering and learning how to function post job, post alcoholism, post untreated mental illness. Approximately 6-8 months later, we were notified that we had been expelled from the practice for non payment. I immediately called them and tried to make it right, but to no avail. The office manager blatantly told me that I could pay the balance, but my children would NEVER be allowed back as patients. Since then, we have searched and searched for a child dentist. The. COVID 19 happens. My children continue to go untreated, dentally, because we were kicked out of our place and we couldn't find another place during the pandemic. February 2022. I finally get my dentist to see my daughter, because she is complaining of tooth pain and she's crying. My dentist referred my daughter back to Kalamazoo Pediatric Dentists. So I call the office and I tell the manager that my daughter is in a lot of pain and that she has an abscess tooth that needs to be fixed. I told her that my dentist had prescribed her a antibiotic, but that she desperately needed to be treated. I told her that my daughter is comfortable with Dr. Van and that she wants to come back. She told me straight up, without pause or hesitation, you are expelled from our practice. No concern about my daughters health, no regard for our being upstanding patients and paying all other bills on time. Just the attitude that we don't need your business because we have an overflow of patients so screw your problems. Oh and screw your daughter too! My daughter is 8 years old. That office manager and those dentist is should be ashamed of themselves.

Great front desk communication and cleanliness! Love the play area, rewards , and aspects for kids…read more We moved from another dentist to this one to help with my daughter not doing great in the chair. Hygienists are always welcoming and try to make us at home the first time. However, This time around was different as the appointment went on to finding out my daughter had a cavity , the whole mood of the appointment changed . The dentist was very short, he didn't get any tips for helping for future cavities - with the type of teeth she has it's likely to happen again . He made me feel as a bad parent this way and the hygienist pretty much followed suit with the same . Hopefully next time around will be different but as of now looking for another kid friendly dentist as this was a huge turnoff .

Awful office manager. This office bills incorrectly and they over charge. The appropriate phrase is…read morefraudulent billing. I have never been so disrespected by someone who truly feels that their title as office manager with blue hair and incredibly shitty attitude is above all else. You are a glorified assistant. I'm disgusted and truly wonder if this dentist and office has taken advantage of numerous patients. Disgusting. Be professional and at least LOOK professional.

MAH Horrible experience…read more I would like to preface this by stating that I have previously had a very positive opinion of Dr. Cohrs personally. I firmly believe his bedside manner, attention to detail, and dental work are truly impeccable, and I appreciated his clinical care during my previous visits over the years. During my most recent visit though, things had changed. I was told by the hygienist, Lyndi, that a panoramic X-ray was "required by law" to maintain their license, with implied risk if refused. No such Michigan law exists--regulations cover equipment safety only, not mandating patient imaging (per LARA-Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and Michigan Dental Association). My low-risk profile (excellent hygiene, no cavities in years, healthy gums, recent normal bitewings) showed no clinical need. ADA 2026 guidelines require panoramic only when necessary, to minimize radiation, not routinely. When I raised the issue feeling misled about Timberview losing their license, the hygienist called in the office manager who was beyond rude, defensive, interrupted repeatedly by obscuring and pivoting to "our standard of care," then asked my opinion of their standard. I said it felt revenue-driven rather than evidence-based. She immediately told me to leave. This was gaslighting: obscuring the obvious falsehood with vague "patient care standards" and punishing honest feedback with abrupt dismissal. Deceptive communication and unprofessional handling erode trust. Patients deserve transparency, not pressure and deflection. Unfortunately the unprofessional conduct of the office manager--particularly her repeated interruptions, twisting of the initial misleading statement, dismissive attitude, and abrupt decision to ask me to leave after I shared my honest opinion--has eroded my trust in the practice as a whole. Despite my high regard for Dr. Cohrs' skills and care, this experience will unfortunately prevent me from returning. Perhaps the business/name change to Timberview Dental has caused the business to now become profit driven over patient care driven. Be VERY careful about agreeing to unnecessary procedures that are lining their pockets.

We've found our new dental care practice after a few duds! There are many things to love about this…read moreplace, including: Ease of getting appointments: The next opening for a new patient might be a month or two off, but they call when there are new openings. There is also a shortcut for you a few days before your appointment: they will send a link for you to fill out paperwork. THANK YOU. I do not like to do this in person anymore, but rather in advance where I can take my time and do it in my own comfy chair with coffee in hand. Kindness: The dental staff is extraordinary. The hygienist I had was welcoming, kind, and efficient. Gentle: No pain during my cleaning or exam (this has happened before, so I am really aware of it). They also took care with my TMJ, and for once after a dental appointment, I didn't walk away in pain. Dentist: He was also kind, efficient, and smart! I really liked him! Parking: Right there in a public lot, perhaps 20 steps max to the door. I didn't see a handicap spot; perhaps it was around the corner where there could be a curb cut? This office building off West Main has many businesses within. There is another business that shares the main outside door. We love this place so much we switched dentists for our entire family to this practice.
