Thermostat got damaged on my road trip., they took care of me asap and had me out in no time :)

I was in a road trip with my family from the South bay area to Bakersfield . I'm so glad my car broke down were it did on the 5 Fwy , I had to exit the fwy and I found this place with great reviews on and I was glad to make the best decision ever to stop by and bring it over to this place. As soon as I pull in I'm not sure if the guys name was Chubby , but he said will get you taken care of and will get the car checked out on the spot didint even wait more than 4 min for someone to look at it, and right away even though they were extremely busy ( Had my 4 kids with me) Chubby sent Braulio immediately to diagnose the problem with my Dodge Durango and let me tell you he was amazing. Took the engine cover off and a few other things and added water to the radiator to see where it was leaking and diagnosed the problem within minutes. He showed me the problem as soon as he spotted it . Found out that the thermostat housing has a big hole in it. They got the part ordered right away didint even had me waiting for a long time , and Louie got the part installed really quickly they even cleaned up the throttle for me , went above and beyond. They had me back on the road between 1 hour to get everything done and continued to my destination.. made it out there safely and got back home with out any problems. I can't thank you guys enough. You guys are the best and I really appreciate you guys for all of your hard work, being very friendly and nice, especially you guys hooked me up and gave me a really great price everything you guys did for $185. Was expecting to be a minimum $500 dollar job or more. Loved the customer service, honesty, getting in and out fast , and couldn't thank you guys enough... I truly highly recommend this place for any of your automotive needs . Thanks once again guys.

Hey, I'm going on a trip up to S. F... maybe I should clean my 122k engine for the 1st time the night before (buzzer sounds). Almost got it right with the plastic covering of the essential "vulnerables" (another louder buzzer). I think it was the Armour All that did me in though. So on one of the hottest days of the year to date, and wearing a black t (might as well/3rd buzzer) I headed on over to Chubby's, as it was within striking distance and they were quite helpful over the phone. After a brief initiation ceremony--watching them (seemed to likely to be Chubby and one of his apostles) tweak and rev. an exposed engine, early 60's era (best guess) truly sick Riviera affair--Chubby, and more apostles came over to my sodden 2008 jetta, where I fessed up and impressed upon them "I get to see my older son once a year..." and how my trip is hanging in the balance--weaving a succinct but poignant tale of woe, to battled-scared and weary ears to be sure, featuring that particular brand of merciless calamity which befalls the most crafty and cunning of us do-it-your-selfers--AND, Chubby and dope crew never quit until everything was perfection and calm. This perfect and comprehensive repair, included yours truly and his Vdub, holding the magic diagnosis tablet, reading out the tech/error codes in the shotgun seat (with C. and then son) as the all variables were identified and eliminated--where does this sort of visceral, hands-on teamwork ever happen? FYI: The wait for the part to arrive was entirely reasonable. Chubby's son is the "office guy"--an extremely helpful and capable mechanic in his own right--handled all of the payment necessities, and cut me quite the deal. And they had me... you know. They good people. Because of the delay, I missed out on all of the lovely 580 traffic up north and my drive was far more pleasant than the distance I needed to cover should have permitted. These guys are family business gods and I'm returning for my back rotor service, which I won't "jumpstart" myself.

Great people to work with. Very friendly and family based qualities. I have taken my Olds there, and every time the work has been very good. I live just around the corner and I would say one of the best places in Sylmar.

Asked him how much for the diagnostic and he said don't worry about it. Instead of milking me for an obvious expensive job, not only did he let me go but he didn't charge me for diagnostic. A few months ago I brought a very old car with known issues. 97 Camry. I've had several mechanics look at it and they couldn't do much despite me paying them. Since this guy gave me a good deal last time decided to take it to him. After inspecting he said it'll be a major repair. Which I already knew from other mechanics. He said that it had a lot of problems and it's not worth repairing. He said that to give up on it cause if I take it to other mechanics, they'll just start repairing piece by piece and it'll add up. Which is what happened. TLDR. If you want an honest mechanic who won't take advantage, this guy is it.

UPDATE in response to the owners reply!…read more When my vehicle was first diagnosed, I was presented with two options: replacing the cylinder head or replacing the engine. The cylinder head repair was described as the more economically reasonable option at the time, and I relied on that professional assessment in making my decision. The repair took over one month to complete, and the cylinder head was sent to an external machine shop. Although outsourced, the repair was coordinated, billed, and released under his shop's responsibility. I proceeded with this shop because I needed reliable transportation for work and was informed the repair would take approximately a month. The availability of a loaner vehicle allowed me to continue working during that extended repair period, which was a significant factor given the timeline. After the vehicle was returned to me, it broke down on the freeway. I was then informed that the cylinder head could not be reprocessed and that the only remaining option was to purchase a replacement engine. At that stage, I no longer had a functioning vehicle, so this was not an elective decision but the only viable remedy presented. Before purchasing the replacement engine, I consulted with (David the owner) regarding where to source it and whether I should proceed. I relied on his confirmation before moving forward. While labor was not charged for the engine installation, no warranty was provided on that work. Regardless of warranty terms, the obligation to disclose safety related defects prior to releasing a vehicle remains. In his comment, he states that engine mount replacement was recommended. I was not provided with any written estimate, documentation, or verbal recommendation to replace the engine mounts prior to installation or before the vehicle was released. The condition of the mounts was identified only after I obtained an independent inspection due to ongoing noise concerns. That inspection revealed multiple broken engine mounts and a severely worn transmission mount. If mount replacement had been clearly recommended before release, it would have been documented and addressed at that time. My concern has consistently been transparency, communication, and the release of a vehicle with undisclosed safety related defects. This response reflects my experience and the events as they occurred.

They did my Service B for a much better price than the dealership. More importantly, they actually checked the car over and made sure everything was working properly and nothing else looked off. I met both owners, David and Rafael, and they were super straightforward. They explain what needs to be done before doing anything and don't try to upsell you. Just honest people who clearly care about their work and reputation. Their shop is also clean and well kept, which I personally pay attention to -- it says a lot about how they treat customers' cars. They're officially saved in my phone now. Definitely recommend if you have a European car and don't want dealership prices but still want quality service.
