Disclaimer, this from a dad who has accepted his fate and now lives on Play Pass economics and draft beer theology There are eight Chuck E Cheese locations within twenty five minutes of my house. Eight. I live in a suburban Bermuda Triangle where every road leads to a different flavor of parental surrender. And yet... I keep coming back because the Play Pass membership is the closest thing to salvation a modern dad can buy without consulting a Rabbi. Two hundred fifty games a day. Half off food. Half off the trampoline park. And I can use it at any location in the country, each with its own personality. All have salad bars, some are safe to eat at. All offer redemption counters which are low key pawn shops for sugar gremlins. Some keep things clean. Some... El Cajon... do not. But Escondido? Escondido is one of the chosen ones. My kids are locked in on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. Escondido has it. National City has it too, but then you have to spend time in National City, and I'm not trying to add side quests to my suffering. The machines here mostly work. The card readers don't gaslight you. The ticket counters don't jam. It's the little things that keep a man going. The Rat Situation..... Once an hour, the music hits. A jaunty little tune that tells most kids it's time to dance with the giant rat mascot. For my youngest, it's the opening note of a horror movie. She hears it and immediately climbs me like a tree. And look, most of the teenagers in the suit are pros. They see the terror. They give us space. They drift away like a respectful wildlife ranger avoiding a startled fawn. But every now and then, fate hands us one of two options: A kid in the suit who cannot read the room Or a kid who absolutely can read the room and chooses violence anyway Those are the moments when the rat stalks my child like a hyena, and I swear, I am not amused. The Beer! Chuck E Cheese serves beer. This is not a luxury. This is a coping mechanism. But the rat only allows one per hour. One. They demand a valid ID every time, even though I look like a man who hasn't slept since the Obama administration. And the system literally locks the tap until the hour resets, no matter how much money I offer the vermin behind the counter. I have never felt more controlled by a rodent in my life. The Salad Bar.... This location keeps the salad bar stocked and clean. Watermelon, honeydew, cucumbers, carrots, oranges. Six fifty with the membership. My kids eat actual produce here. This is a miracle. Other locations... again, El Cajon... treat the salad bar like a corporate mandated example that pizza and cotton candy a food group. Escondido Chuck E Cheese is where I come to trade my sanity for two hours of my kids not fighting. The Play Pass is a lifesaver. The games work. The salad bar is shockingly fresh. The beer flows on a timer set by a tyrant rat overlord. Four stars because my child should not have to fear a mascot like it's a nature documentary. But for a beaten down dad clutching his hourly beer like manna, this place gets the job done. read more

Pretty small place compared to other places I've been to: but if you're under 10 yrs old, it'll do. They no longer have coin machines or tickets for prizes which is sorta sad because that's nostalgic to when I was a kid at Chuck E. Cheese- but I guess scan cards are more efficient now. They have a jumping area where our grandson (age 4) loved so much- so that was cool. Decent pizza. Chicken wings and meatballs. Beer for the parents yay. This place in general was clean and well organized. The music in the eating area was LOUD which was a bit obnoxious- and I don't have sensory issues but this was very very loud. They could tone it down a bit- especially since kids are already loud and yelling etc. no need to top it. Minus one star for that. Also- I under stand the staff may be under age but if you're going to sell beer- have them at least know what they are selling. I asked if they had an ale or IPA and they couldn't tell me. Boo. Service? Non existing. Care? Not provided. the big cheese? Well it Stinked a lot. I am rarely a visitor of these places but when a friends has a baby, you show up and smile. While standing in line with at least 15 other parents and kids, I was denied a second drink. I showed my id and clearly way up above age. The under age attendant had to call her "manager" to clear me. When asked what wines they had a blank response was given "red or white" not the usual- we have pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Blanc, Pinot war, and rosé. The first girl told me they had rose so I just asked for that. Instead of saying we don't offer that she just blankly stared at me and repeated "white or red". Of course at first I was confused when I had said "rose" I repeated again "rose please" again she blankly looked at me and said- "it's just white or red". Maybe it's my age showing or a busy day, I'll go as far as I'm tired and surrounded by way too many adults and kids but what happened to customer service? Has there self check turned our servers and hosts into mindless robots? Or is it simply courtesy, dignity and respect, just lack from a place that should've died in the 90s? read more

Won't be back. Came here for a birthday party. Their own rules at the playground state "non-slip socks required" nowhere does it state they have to be Check E Cheese socks. They would not let the kids play even though they had no -slip socks on. Not even the birthday girl. Not paying $10 for their socks because we won't be back. The party area was way over crowded and hard to navigate through with all different parties stacked on top of one another. Autumn was the only helpful employee. The other employees were unhelpful, flat out rude, or on their phone. With all the other options around, this won't be one. My grandkids really enjoy going to Chuck E. Cheese -- it's always a fun experience for them, and you really get a bang for your buck with all the games and activities available. The only frustrating part for me is the play zone area. It costs $15 per child, so I usually spend about $60 for my four grandkids. You're supposed to receive a wristband and socks for access, but the staff doesn't seem to enforce this rule. I've noticed many kids playing inside without wristbands, which takes away time and space from those whose parents actually paid. Overall, it's a great place for family fun, but I wish they would better monitor the play zone to make it fair for everyone. read more

Place opens up at 10. But didn't actually open till 10:20. Then when everyone got inside all the machines to take care payment were down and we needed to wait for it to reboot. I want to preference this review by saying in the past 2 years I have NEVER written a 1 star review. So this was hard for me to do, but I need to be true. The food wasn't that good. But you don't expect much from a place that doesn't understand time management, because it seemed as if the pizza was undercooked. Lastly the vibe of the place was terrible. We brought my son to Chuck E Cheese for his 3rd birthday. Honestly I haven't been since I was a kid. It was a Wednesday so we thought it wouldn't be too busy. We were definitely wrong. I guess there was a fundraising which made it crazy busy. Long line to order food which sucked. They have this play zone area which is really nice but to pay extra is ridiculous. The workers are trying to kick out kids that sneak by and parents are all mad and putting down the workers for doing their job. Time limits and offer it free would be a better option. The worker at the register should advise customers when they order food if they want to go in that play area then it costs more. We weren't told. I also disliked the prize redemption process. I wanted the slinky but they said it's not available. No explanation when everything is on display. We didn't understand why we couldn't get it. It's there but not in the back. They can't grab something off the wall. They can't open their case?! A child seeing it and wanting it only to be told no is horrible. We stopped into this location last minute looking for something to do with our 6 year old. The place was pretty clean and the staff were helpful. The food was good and came out in a timely manner. The downsides to this location were; they did not have the entrance security set up like other locations ... no stamp kids or barriers. The lines took forever to order and pay. The bathrooms were not the cleanest. Our child had a great time, but I think for the cost; 2- 30min gaming cards, 1 jump pass, 3 drinks and a Medium Cheese pizza ($130) there are some things that management can change. read more

I enjoy bringing my daughter here for games but today was the second time I've come and they did not check our hand stamps on our way out. The whole point of doing the stamps is for safety to make sure you're not leaving with someone else's kids. chuck e cheese is a really fun place to go for little kids and I enjoyed it too! but I wanna say a few things about this place. 1. it's fun but I guess kids are getting too old for Chuck E. Cheese. 2. it's fun but who is gonna pay 30 DOLLARS FOR A LARGE PIZZA WITH 4 DRINKS WHEN YOU CAN GET THE SAME THING AT COSTCO FOR TWICE CHEAPER THAN HERE. 3. It's really fun at chuck e cheese! I had to write a review about this place because I always forget it's here and it is a great place to visit with the kids especially the heat waves. We had the all you can play card for two hours and it was more than enough time. The facility was very clean and all the machines were working when we visited. The customer service is spectacular as well. The kids enjoyed their pizza and I enjoyed the salad bar. The AC was blaring , which was perfect on a hot day. I highly recommend this place for families with children looking for a couple hours of entertainment. We've come here so many times, I feel pretty confident in my review. The staff is awesome, inclduing the manager and Arturo, the tech guy who goes around inspecting and fixing the games if needed. The food is always fantastic and comes out quick (though we do tend to come when it's less busy). The salad bar is always fresh and delicious. The only thing I dislike about this location is that it's a bit darker compared to the other one we go to at times. Also, the other location tends to have nicer games than this one. As with everything, when it's busy, things are going to take a bit longer, but if you come before 2/3pm during the week, you'll be good for a few hours until it starts to get more crowded. read more

This location is right off the freeway and very accessible. It's clean and the staff are friendly. Food is made fresh and beer is ice cold! The only problem is that half of their games are always out of order. The picture machines don't print out pictures and tables are not available as they are deemed unsafe. Chuck E. Cheese is not what it use to be as when I was a kid. I was bummed they got rid of the ball pits and indoor playset! All of my nostalgia aside, they don't have too much to offer. The games are all spaced out, and there wasn't a lot to choose from for my 1 and 3 year old. I think 4+ would probably have a blast here. We choose the cheapest option which was $18 for 45minutes of unlimited play on a play card. After those 45 minutes were up, we went to the prize section. There wasn't much to choose from there as well. Tiny lollipops, air heads, plastic hand size toys, etc. I will say the equipment was clean and they weren't busy for a saturday day. read more

I took my granddaughter to Chuck E Cheese for a fun day together and to look at scheduling her upcoming birthday party but I was so disappointed that it's highly unlikely that I will take her again. Even though I saw many staff members it took about ten minutes before anyone came to the counter. I purchased a pizza and salad and drinks along with one hour of play and it was $65.00! The pizza was burnt, the salad bar was picked over and messy looking and the overall condition of the location was pretty run down and doesn't look like it had been deep cleaned in quite some time . The ice machine was empty. The drink bar was dirty. The toilets were not flushing and they were close to overflowing from use without flushing them!!!!! I saw no sanitation of the games which were sticky and dirty and Many of the games were not working at all. There was no one to help with the crappy overpriced toys my granddaughter earned from games. We threw away the horrible food and I tried to get her some ice cream which was not available and then tried to get dippin dots but the flavors she asked for were discontinued. Overall the trip was a cluster F*CK and I hope we don't end up with some disease from the filthy conditions. We left with my granddaughter crying and I ended up having to drive through McDonald's to feed my granddaughter and try to salvage the rest of the day. My children and I have been big fans of Chuck E Cheese. But last night's experience was really disappointing. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza with one side jalapeño, cheesy bread, a salad and 3 drinks. We placed the order at 6:35 pm and the food wasn't ready until almost 8:00 pm. The wait time for food was nothing I have ever experienced before. Finally when the pizza came out we learned there was no parmesan cheese or pepper flakes. We were told, "they were out". How is that possible? We were all very hungry and upset to say the least. The food on the menu is pretty simple and it's not cheap therefore food should not take that long to come out of the kitchen. Very clean. Chuck E Cheese recently revamped their pizza recipe and it's much better than before. Even the salad bar was clean and fresh. What I really like about this particular location is that I've noticed the staff actively cleaning the arcade games and the large indoor play set. If I could give "0" stars I would. First time I came with my kids someone stole or threw away our pizza while we played, second time they took an hour for our pizza to be ready and that because I actually went and ask about it just to find out they gave me a medium pizza instead of a large one I paid for. So overall it's a fun place for the kids to come and play in the arcades but I wouldn't eat in this place you're better off eating before you come. read more

Went in today around 3. There was a line close to the register. There was only one person up front and that person was taking the peoples order in front of us. We had to wait for their order to finish just so they can put the stamp on us. After that I got in to the line to order food and play minutes and that cashier was helpful We were about to put our tickets in the machine and it got turn off. I had to wait back in line cause there was just one register open and nobody else was giving service. Luckily he fix the problem and I got my tickets printed. For being a wednesday and having specials on games it should've had more staff. Not to mention that Chuck e didn't even come out cause they only had 3 people. As huge as a fan my 3 YO is, I was truly disappointed. I called knowing they are closing soon 8:16 to ask if I can carry out a pizza and the guy on the phone just seemed bothered by my question. But he did say if it didn't allow me to place the order online than they are not accepting orders. I decided to try anyway, and it worked. We arrived to pick up the pizza and saw chuckee walking around so immediately hoped out our car to FINALLY see him the first time since Covid. This is a tough one. I respect that they let us make an appt and come for an hour of gaming with only one other family there for $37.50, but the food was terrible. Like beyond bad. It was the worst gluten free pizza I've ever had. The fries were wrapped into a ball of aluminum foil which made them a soggy mess. It was gross. But it was nice playing the games and having the place almost to ourselves. However, my daughter had a cold the very next day and it spread to the whole family, so I am not sure how much they are sanitizing or if it is was just an unfortunate coincidence we got sick right after coming there. read more

I've only ever been to this Chuck E. Cheese's as an adult since I became a mother a little over two years ago. FOOD: I appreciate the unlimited salad bar for a healthy option. My family enjoys the pizza but it's very greasy so I suggest patting it with a napkin first. But let's be honest, we don't choose to go to this place for the food. Let's get to the most important parts of this establishment: GAMES/RIDES: They are often broken. The little train ride took my "points" and then didn't move. I had to manually push this heavy train around in circles. This was fixed the last time I was here but it still didn't make it the entire way around the loop. The ski-ball games were all messed up last time I was there, though, and a few other games had sloppily hand-written "out of order" signs on them. Otherwise, there's a wide variety of types of games/rides so that's cool. SAFETY/CLEANLINESS: I do have to hand it to them for having safeguards in place to reduce any anxiety one might have about losing their child. Goodness knows I think the sun rises and sets in my son's big brown eyes and I couldn't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to steal him. I'm happy that they stamp the hands of each group so that the children leave with the correct family. This is nice. As far as cleanliness, I really don't think I can have very high expectations in a place like this. The carpets are terribly stained and look filthy. My son had a meltdown and threw himself on the carpeted floor (like all toddlers do now and then) and I was disgusted by the thought of his face being near that carpet. Ew. The bathrooms were ok but there were used paper towels all over outside the overfilled trash can. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The employees all seem to work hard and care about their jobs. I did get a few smiles out of them but it's pretty dry. I'm sure they deal with a lot of craziness throughout their shifts so I have to give them a lot of credit for their patience. I will say, however, that some extra personality and "fluff" would go a long way with some customers (like me). :) Overall, a decent experience. If the games were all in great working order, the floors weren't so dirty, and the bathrooms were kept in order, I'd be happy to add a star or two. read more

Yes are they practicing a few protocols absolutely, but are they hustling and providing customer service which is above and beyond for a business that wants to be open and or is extremely grateful to their constituents for keeping them open AH NO!!!!!! Went today on a Monday for my sons birthday today! Going in the beginning of the week is the best time to go, hardly anyone there. My boys, grandma and I had a wonderful experience! The place was very clean, food looked cooked, the lady working the front was very attentive to our needs and we didn't wait long for boys to get their prizes. -1 star because 2 games were down and still took our points, eh it happens and my boys still got plenty of tickets. We just had our daughter's 6th birthday here and had the best experience. Our assigned coordinator, Kendall(?), took the best care of our party and made my daughter feel extra special. He was so patient and kind, I can't say enough about what a great job he did with my small group. We will definitely be back! Thank you Kendall! PS I remember Chucky Cheese when I was young and I'm really surprised and pleased by how much they've changed, and for the better. I'm so disappointed from last experience here. Spent $83 on 2 pizzas, 2 salads and 4 drinks. The pizzas had hardly any cheese on them, like really no cheese. So they didnt really want to eat them and most of the drinks were out as well. The manager was pleasant and filled the salad bar when requested but just sad to see spending so much for nothing now. Half the games are even ot of order. Can't even get a pass for games with food anymore just a discount. At least 1/4 of the machines are out of service, several took our play points and did not let us play, and several gave us incorrect amount of tickets.
