Well, I clearly had my head in the sand. This place is the oldest continuously run Kidde Park in America and has the oldest steel roller coaster in North America. The facility clearly shows a bit of its age but is extremely clean. Further, the ride operators are very friendly and in tune with their small guests. I witnessed several random acts of kindness during my visit. Oh and did I mention that the food is good and the facilities clean. Although the toddler room was disappointing, they are accommodating to the adults by having beverages available for purchase. Food wasn't too bad, so I can't be too upset with our experience. Some of them were really interactive with the kids which made me smile. However, whoever the person is attending the actual park, not sure if she is security or what, she said my son was "trying to get away from me" and blew a whistle at me for jumping with my son. I wasn't damaging equipment, my son (and I'm sure if you have cameras you can check) was begging my husband and I to come jump with him. This woman told me a story about how she jumped with her daughter and her daughter ended up breaking her leg, telling me how fragile kids are. I'm actually a teacher, so I work with kids 24/7 and am well aware of this. Told me "mom to mom" basically, she made me feel unwelcome to jump. After we just spent $50. After I came back from the bathroom, my husband at this point was going to have a word with the front desk. I noticed she was also singling out other people as well, as well as playing on her phone, sitting in massage chairs, and taking up benches. I'm going to say this as nicely as I can, but I almost wonder if she was targeting me because I'm a small woman and CAN jump with my son without injuring him. Am considering taking my son to another park after this day, as again that was terribly uncalled for in my opinion her approach. I understand if she had a safety concern, but if that was the case, I don't think any of that backhanded commentary was necessary.

The crown jewel being their Liberty Playground which is great for toddlers to preteens. It has a generous section for a mini-town, complete with is fire station, traffic light, pedestrian crossing etc. Of note, clean restrooms by the kids area enhances the experience. The soccer field is gorgeous....and well maintained. Tennis courts are fantastic....and well maintained. Excellent baseball fields, multiple....are well maintained. Swimming pool for kids and adults....look great although I haven't benefited from it. The walking areas connecting all the above to independence branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library are paved with lush green grass and colorful floral arrangements with a lot of attention owing laid to landscaping. The Elmwood pond within the grounds of the park is a serene place to sit by. I've had the pleasure of visiting there many times with family, a generation up and also a generation down. We all love sitting there, chatting, snacking,in a peaceful environment in awe of the ducks, geese and if we're lucky, seeing the blue herons that come by there.

We reserved bowling lanes and food, but plenty of people from our party and their families ventured out to the axe throwing and laser tag. There were no complaints. The arcade area also kept the kiddos busy. The only area I'd like to note for improvement is that our food was to be brought out at 4:30 PM and we did not receive it until 5. Once it arrived, it was delicious, but the wait was felt. Hopefully this was just an off day. I wouldn't let it deter me from giving them another shot.

The negative is, I would never suggest leaving your kids alone there. The supervision is lacking to nonexistent. I couldn't tell if it was just the cashier there alone, or if someone was helping her. She spent the entire time talking to another woman. Not one person was even watching the kids. No one ever walked around. The cashier's small son was there. And he was an uncontrolled kid. Running around, very wild. So while it is a fun place. I would say to never leave your kids there alone.
