    Southern Fried Catfish

First time at Chug-A-Lug and my experience matched all the good things I have heard about this place. I was skeptical about a rooftop being in Glenwood but my expectations were exceeded. The 3- level concept gives you the opportunity to decide how intimate you would like your night to be. Main level allows for booth seating, rooftop provides a good opportunity to enjoy the weather while enjoying your food, drinks and music. The basement was my favorite part. It was the perfect place for ADULT fun. Each level has a bar offering more options based on which level you sit at. My service was great! The young lady was very honest with our food selections. I originally wanted a salmon burger but she was honest about the many reviews so I went with the southern fried catfish that comes with two sides. I chose the rice pilaf and asparagus. The sides were a little salty but overall meal 8/10. I paired my food with a 1800 reposado mule which definitely was delicious. Right amount of spirit and other ingredients. Overall I would be returning to experience the arcade set up in the basement as well as try more food/drink options

Chug A Lug was a great place for lunch as my daughter and I enjoyed such. It was a Tri level. Which doesn't seem that big on the outside and also a rooftop. The menu had plenty of options from chicken, burgers, chops and pastas. The drink menu was pretty decent. We order the tomahawk chop which came with mashed and green beans, and I order an extra side which was Mac and cheese. And kid had the plain wings with fries. We both enjoyed our food. The chop was huge and I can barely finish it! Also ordered a drink called the grand cognac it was pretty decent. Our server named was Tanaya. She was great! Made personal suggestions of her faves and took great care of us. Keep my cup filled and plenty napkins. Haha! Seemed small but even the smallest things makes a difference. The place seemed hip and very known. They had regulars they came and left and it was just a nice little vibe. Music was perfect and not much of a crowd that early during the day which I often enjoy the most. Check em out!

We went on a Thursday night when it wasn't crowded. Easy parking. The space is really nice with multiple floors - the main dining area, lower level and rooftop. The service was good. The food was pretty good, but I will say the sauce on the salmon was too thick and sticky. Sounds like they are known for their appetizers, but we ordered entrees. Would definitely return.

Found this place on a fluke. Was going to a gas station nearby and heard some nice music coming from their upstairs patio. Went to check it out and was truly amazed. Large monitors to watch sports and a robust menu selection. Had the cheese stick and bourbon wings. Soooo good. You can actually see the seasonings on them. Not like those you get when they just drop the stick in oil from a frozen bag. This wings really hit the spot. Nice tangy bourbon sauce coated every bit of the wing and did not leave a huge grease stain. Did I mention the service was great?

Worth every calorie. The Philly cheesesteak is so good and the onion rings too. I love their selection of cocktails including seasonal drinks. The service was very good, it was just myself and my daughter. The ambiance was what you'd expect for a sports bar but I can't wait to visit once it's officially rooftop season as they have a rooftop.

I've visited this establishment a couple of times now (9/14/2022 & 8/19/2024) and still feel the same as the first visit. The food is just ok, to me. And is served cold at times (a fresh hot dish was provided after informing our server, who wasn't surprised it was cold to begin with). The other guests with me really enjoyed their food. The servers have good intentions, but the service could be better. Repeatedly asking for water or to have used dishes removed from the table isn't my favorite thing to do. If you ask for the 18% service charge to be removed, you'll be told no, at least we were. And said service charge is not considered automatic gratuity. Definitely, sounded like a lie to me because whenever I've asked for these erroneous charges/fees to be removed at other places (including downtown-as the server was quick to say "they don't remove them downtown either.") I've never been told no. Then we were asked to give our tip as cash. Otherwise, it'll be divided up between the kitchen, server, and table bussers, according to our server. If I could give an actual star review, I'd give 2.5. The positive 2.5 would be for: good portion sizes with a variety of food items to choose from, spacious interior, great for large groups, for watching sports, they have a rooftop, which is non-existent in the south suburbs, and they have an area with recreation options downstairs (bowling, billiards, arcade style games), as well as the now trendy gaming machines if that's your thing. The other 2.5 stars that need work are: the service (being more attentive and prompt) and safety-although there's security, during my last visit a guy presented to our table as if he worked there asking how everything was then solicited his personal business. Our server informed us he's always there and isn't a worker. Which lets me know they're clearly ok with his presence. My first time visiting an upset worker said they were leaving and coming back to shoot someone. So yeah. Housekeeping items: Parking is tight and shared with other businesses within the strip plaza. If you park across the street, don't walk alone. It's dark and secluded. The bathroom is clean. They take more than one payment if needed.

This place is amazing! You walk in to a trendy fun and welcoming bar. The bar tenders greeted us with friendly smiling faces. We found a place to sit in the back & we were given menus. Neither of us had ever been there before so we asked for recommendations. We went with something fruity, I think it was called paradise something, it had pineapple and coconut in it. But we had that to start. It was delicious. Then she came back and I asked for a recommendation on the dessert portion of the menu and she said the cupcake martini was a huge hit and so my friend & I did went with that -- just a note the cupcake martini has a lot more alcohol in it than the first one, whoa... -- but it was still really good! My friend and I had a blast while drinking our martinis and enjoying the atmosphere in the lounge. The way they set it up is really nice. I went home and immediately told my boyfriend about it. I'm really looking forward to going back and trying out different drinks! I haven't heard people talk about this place. It's like a hidden gem in Homewood!

Karaoke was on a school night. A DJ controls the Karaoke selections using Karafun. There were about 8 of us there. The DJ was playing good music in between if you wanted to take the mic and sing. Our group individually sang a few songs. It would be nice to have more of an enthusiastic audience, that is what we are used to at other venues. All in all, this is a great spot. Staff is super friendly, especially the female bar attendant on the main floor. I wished they served food here but you can order food for delivery to eat inside. Thanks Copper Still!

For the pricing, I expected much better flavor, quality, and overall creativity. The shareables were overpriced, the drinks were mid-level at best, and nothing really stood out enough to justify the cost. The space itself is nice and works well as a social spot or sports bar atmosphere where you can sit, talk, watch games, and enjoy company. That part of the experience was probably the highlight. However, the service was also lacking because the restaurant seemed noticeably short-staffed. It took a long time to receive attention and proper service throughout the visit, which added to the frustration. Overall, the location and atmosphere have potential, but the menu, food quality, drink execution, pricing, and staffing experience need major improvement to match the type of establishment they appear to be aiming for.

Seriously, you can see the Sears Tower on a clear day and it looked like Oz! This restaurant is one to visit! One to value! One to appreciate! The smoked Old Fashioned was the first clue that this was going to be a good experience. Wood smoked in a decanter and served over a single cube with Rosemary sprig. Perfection! Delicious! I wish I could had the perfect t cigar with it. Appetizers of Ousters Rockefeller were superb. Great sized. Generous toppings. The Waygu meatballs, sauce and perfectly toasted bread almost had me stepping away from my table to "slap the cook" but I composed myself as the perfect gentleman that I am and silently clapped for him. My ribeye was cooked to perfection. Mom had the lamb chops and she said aloud that she was in heaven. I did not want to hear that kind of talk, so I ordered her a prosecco. Ha. She relaxed. We had a few sides, the creamed spinach and the Mac n Cheese and each one did not disappoint. There was no room for dessert, but side note...(this place is located at the Wind Creek Casino just next to a Portillo's and IYKYK- that Chocolate Cake is fire! So make a detour and got ma home. That means the world to me! I do look forward to my next visit. I went here Saturday with my girls, and the vibe was on point, but the service from one of the bartenders left a bad taste. I want to extend some grace because it was extremely crowded and only a few bartenders were working, so one would expect a longer wait. However, when trying to order a 2nd round of drinks after tipping 20% our requests were repeatedly dismissed while others that came behind us were being served. When we finally did get served, I didn't realize my friend had paid for my drink and I put $15 on the bar for it. Once my girl told me she had already paid for my drink, I asked the bartender for my money back. She told me I only put $10 and despite my witnesses correcting her, she took it upon herself to STEAL $5 from me. In the future, I will not request service from this particular bartender. Other than that, it was a great time, and I look forward to my next visit!
