Currently listed at $15, it comes with double rice, double mac, a slice of pineapple, pulled pork, beef ribs, and barbecue chicken. The Big Kahuna is probably the best value on the menu. For me personally, it's big enough to split, or to feed me for a whole day. While I loved the Big Kahuna, I'm not really a big fan of pulled pork. The third time I came in, I ordered the Ginger Beef. I liked it, but honestly not as much as any of the three meats that came with the Big Kahuna. The next two times, I ordered the large teriyaki chicken with extra sauce, to go. The flavor is basic in the best way possible. It's not necessarily interesting or innovative, but is exactly what I expect when I think of good teriyaki chicken. It's tender, flavorful, and perfectly charred. The pulled pork tastes like it was cooked in a slow cooker, or via some kind of process that took a very long time. It just falls apart in your mouth. The rice and mac are also plain in the best way possible. Traditional and plain, but still perfectly done. This has become my favorite lunch spot in Hood River. It's hard to not eat here every day.

The mac salad was chilled, creamy, and well balanced--mayo-based with shreds of carrot, bits of green onion, and a light touch of pepper. Overall, a classic Hawaiian plate lunch. So, sure enough I made a trip out there...It's a good 25 minute drive from where I live. I ordered the Huli Huli Chicken and it was some of the best chicken I ever had! Even with a plastic fork and knife, it was super tender and moist. Grilled perfectly and tasted so darn delicious! They gave me a side of Teriyaki, which I barely used on my rice, since the Chicken was flavorful enough! The Mac Salad was very good as well! If it seems a little on the speedy side, it cost me almost $17 with tax, they justify by giving a big portion of Chicken and rice. It's enough to split among two people. Next time I make a trip out there, I would like to try their Garlic Chicken or their Poke dish. I wanted to try their dessert, but I didn't see a Chocolate dessert listed on the menu. The mac and cheese is supposed to be great, but our little cup didn't seem as broiled and bubbly as boats we saw - not hot and breadcrumbs mildly toasted, but tasted decent. BBQ was okay, but you don't get any chicken in the sampler - heavy on pulled pork - the ribs were pretty tasty, brisket was okay. I will explore other food options on the menu next visit, but recommend checking it out.

The fish itself came in large chunks and I think the lomi salmon was missing because they ran out of that as well. Garlic Chicken: The chicken itself was dressed really well in the garlic sauce. It was a little dry but the sauce definitely helped. They had run out of Mac salad so they offered some fried noodles as a substitute which was okay. OVERALL: I felt a little let down to be honest. They had run out of a lot of stuff and the quality did not seem on par with the reviews I'd been reading. Possibly just a busy day for them but I guess we'll have to come earlier? We did get there around 1230PM so I guess that was too late. They had also run out of some of their specials including the lau lau which I wanted to try. I'll probably give them another chance some time since I love Hawaiian food.
