I've been coming here for years, at least 10+. So the fact that he did me so dirty is unbelievable. Jaw dropping really. Left my car for repair. Payed $1100 upon pick up. When I drove off everything felt fine and then I took a turn left and that's when I noticed it. My outside rearview mirror was broken and just swaying back and forth. Immediately I turned around and went back to cv auto care. I said hey what happened to my mirror. Either you guys broke my mirror or somebody driving through hit the mirror and broke it. He just looked at me and said well we don't know, I don't know. I said check the cameras and he says to me, they don't work. Which is a bold face lie because I asked the gentleman who sells cars on the same lot if they worked and he said that they do. Then (and here's the real kicker) the mechanic tells me if I buy the mirror he'll put it on for free. In all the years and all the cars this guy has never done anything for free. Boom! That's how I know he fu#%*+ did it. But wait it gets worse. My car was also missing a light not the bulb and actual light when I asked him for it he couldn't find it. Wtf! Of course I left pissed off. Filed a complaint with the better business bureau which he responds to and to try and smooth it out with the bbb he sends me a text asking me driver side mirror right (which he knows what mirror come on now) I texted him yup and that was over two months ago. He basically was just trying to get the bbb of his a##. I'm a single widowed mom living in California life is hard enough for me. So yeah. I'm frugal and like a good deal, so a $20 coupon for a smog check made it worth it for me to go a little out of the way to find this place. I pulled in and after I gave him my keys he said it would be 30 minutes or less. Then I started reading the yelp reviews and got really nervous that I was going to have a one star experience and they might renig on my coupon. The pit was growing in my stomach as I read more and more bad reviews, but after only 15 minutes my car was ready. My palms were getting moist as he prepared the bill. "That will be $30." Whew! Huge sigh of relief....I didn't get ripped off!! I think that's the least I've paid for a smog in San Diego. Beware! It's TRUE about the false advertising. I didnt want to believe it. Went in with my $20 (plus 8 for certificate) coupon and they said no, it would be $68 plus however much for certificate. I said no thank u, the coupon says 20 for cars 1996 and newer. They continued to argue that the car is too old and doesnt qualify for the $20 price. We say no and try to leave and they say theyll lower the total price to 50:/ ok fine we agree. So instead of $28 I agree to $50. Smh. I highly recommend, from my experiences at this business, that everybody stay far far away from this place. I came here for my smog check after getting my car worked on at my own mechanic. I only came here because it was such a cheap smog inspection from a coupon I find in a local magazine. Only 20 bucks for a smog! Can't beat that right?? Well they offer that if you fail the smog they will offer a free retest just so long as you get all the repairs and work done there. I just got my vehicle repaired my by own mechanic and I knew I did not need need a catalytic converter. I understand my car may not have been ready due to it just having been repaired, as it needs to be driven a bit before it can pass smog, however Eddie told me I need a new catalytic converter just because it said "catalyst" on the bottom left of the report- (http://i65.tinypic.com/1z65is2.jpg ) which I felt he was trying to scam me into buying something I didn't even need. I felt as though he was trying to take advantage of me thinking I had no idea about anything. As soon as he brought it up too he said right away "we can't make our machine fail your car." I brought this up with the owner, Chris, and asked for my money back and he gave it back to me after I explained what happened with his employee Eddie telling me I needed a repair when I didn't need one. They quoted me on the phone $39.99. they said 30 minutes and said I could sit on the deck of their adjacent business. The manager didn't speak English, not a problem, I speak Spanish. I waited about 45 minutes before walking back to the service station to just see them eating tacos and shooting the shit. I get it was taco Tuesday but I needed the restroom that they didn't have. Next manager tried to charge me $67... immediately changed the invoice when I told him what I was quoted but tried to short change my $100 by giving me $40 change. Time on my smog cert said it had been completed 25 minutes prior...they just didn't give a ....to yell across the parking lot ** Not taking a shot at the mechanic not speaking English, don't even try to make it like that. Thought I'd give this Smog place a try. They have a very slick website and had advertised $19.99 smog plus certificate ($8.00). I arrived prior to 8am to be there right at opening. Watched the garage open up and at 8am left my vehicle and approached one of the smog guys. As I approached, he said to wait another 10 minutes. Sure. I waited until he motioned for me to come. I told him I came because of the coupon on the website. He said that did not apply to my vehicle. Okay, I get that. My Pathfinder is a 1999. He states that it will $42 +$8 for certificate with a total of $50. Higher than the last place I had taken it too, but I'm there, so I agree. Smog takes about 20 minutes, my Pathfinder had to go on a Dyno. As I watched, the smog guy puts my vehicle on a lift and raises it in the air. Interesting. I've been to many smog places and have never had my vehicle in the air for smog. Just an observation. They motioned to me that my Pathfinder was done. It passed. They charge me the $50 plus a 3% credit/debit card fee(?!) for a total of $51.50 (this is the 1st time I've been charged a fee in all the smog places I have been to. With a family of 5, we have a few cars). I get it that business is slow and you have to look for opportunities to make sales but if you put my vehicle in the air, there better be a reason or an explanation why and to charge a 3% credit/debit fee, seriously. I brought my car in for a brake and light inspection. If you are aware of the procedure of this inspection it requires the technician to remove your tires and rear brake drums /rotors and pads. Two days later after bringing it in this shop my rear brakes locked up and almost caused a collision which scared me a lot. The manger name is victor and the owners name is chris. They refused to repair my vehicle or even inspect it to check if they had made a mistake while put the vehicle back together. Never bring your car to this place they don't care about their customers at all. The guy in the picture is named victor. Horrible experience at this shop. They lied about the price. The employee inside told me it's $30 for a smog, and that he would be done in 30 minutes. That sounded good, but it took them over hour for a simple smog, and ended up being $48.24. He told me they have to charge me for the Certificate as well. I would of been fine if they would of said that was the price from beginning, but that just shows dishonesty in there business practice. I then find out they're inspecting my car for repair work, which I didn't asked for. Just another way to get people to spend money at there shop. If I would of asked for more then a smog, then I get it. The fact is the price is false, and they take an hour for a smog on a un busy Wednesday. I'll never reccomend this shop to no one, unless they like dishonest buisness. Edit: I will not take my review down, the fact is you try sell people on a price that's false. I was quoted $900 for a catalytic converter that I did not need $900 to install it and that I also had an exahust leak. Then $1200 to reset a ecu adaption. They said there was no way the car would pass smog unless I did that. I know I didn't have an exahust leak cause I went to the muffler shop the day before. I know I didn't need another catalytic converter to pass smog. But the ecu adaption I did need which takes about 2 minutes to do. You plug in the OBD2 and reset it they wanted $1200. I ended up taking my car to Marco Polo in La Jolla and they reset the ecu adaption for free he said that's an easy fix come on down and I'll do it free. I then went to smog check and passed. CROOKED BEYOND BELIEF. I dont know if that's the guys business or if hes working for someone but it's just wrong on all levels. read more

Noticed what I was charged was higher than what was on their flyer. They did not care and would not reduce the amount to match their own flyer. 3. They had a deal on an oil change. I referenced their own flyer. Told me they could not honor it, because my car needed a synthetic oil change. COST FOR THAT MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH. I will never do business with these guys again. He confirmed what I thought was the issue and gave me the best price after searching multiple service centers. With in the hour my truck was fixed and back on the road. Took my 2008 BMW 5 Series here to get smog checked and in and out in about 30mins. Funny thing is, wasn't the place I was heading to, googled a testing center near me and it said Broadway and L Street...any way, the gentleman that helped me out was professional and courteous. $30 in and out. Was told to go early in the morning for a fast diagnostic on my car. Arrived at 9:00 am they had no other cars ahead of mine and they told me it would be a 2-3 hour wait. I called at 12:00 and they told me it would be another hour wait. Finally around 1:00 they told me to fix the car it would be $1,700 at least 2 weeks and possibly longer. Supposedly my car had a "leak" despite there being no evidence of this and my oil tank being full. They also claimed the car needed to have the motor checked and this would all take 2 weeks or more?! When I told them I did not want to do business with them given the price, that they took too long to run a diagnostic and that I didn't trust they'd truly take 2 weeks to fix the car, the guy got very upset and was rude upon my picking up my car. They never apologized for taking long. This place is a rip off. I went back to my mechanic with the diagnostic in hand and he will be fixing for a fraction of the cost. read more

I was greeted as soon as I got up to the door, and was greeted by Chris and Eddie (who also had a shirt that said Chris on it...these guys have a great sense of humor). If you ever need to get your car fixed or checked out please don't go to this place. Why? Well let me tell you a story... see for a few days almost two weeks my car was taking a long time to turn on. Sometimes it took so long I thought it wasn't going to turn on. We checked the car and tried to figure out ourselves what was wrong and maybe try and fix the issue. However that was unsuccessful. So on Monday I finally decided I needed to take it to a mechanic because I needed to make sure everything was okay since I was going to need to do a smog test on my car for my new registration. So we went to the Chula Vista Auto Care where they told me they would check it out and find the issue and call me to let me know. It would cost me $90 dollars just to do the diagnostic but would waive it if I fixed the issue with them. Good deal right? I thought so, so I left my car and went home. About an hour later they called me to tell me the issue, the mechanic said that it was my gas pump, he said it had low pressure causing my car to have trouble starting. He then goes on to tell me that the part would cost me $790 and labor would be an extra $200!!! I was like ... The thing is I was ready to pay that money because I really needed my car but the bf decided to get a second opinion. His family had a mechanic friend they trusted so we went to pick up my car and paid the $90. Long story short, I went to pick up my car yesterday and the guy with almost a smirk on his face asks us, "so you wan to know what was wrong with your car?" We are like, okay. Now get ready everyone! He says, " it was your car battery all along, it doesn't work." We were like omg! are you kidding me??!?!?!? I couldn't believe it. Here we were trusting this guy at the Chula Vista Auto Care in telling me what was wrong with my car and he is trying to rip me off! All I can say is thank god to second opinions & honest people, I only paid $65 in the end for the damn issue. But yes people don't go to the Chula Vista Auto Care!!!!
