Chula Vista Gun Store has been around awhile and where I go to find old firearms. I generally has a good selection of consignment rifles and handguns. I have bought a good number of rifles, I think 6 old used rifles at this point and one handgun from him, and have never had a problem. He offers lay-a-way for most of the firearms in the store. Albert, the owner, also has the best firearm transfer rate in the area; so if you need to have something sent, he's your best bet. Just be sure to call him before you have something sent to him to make sure it 1. Can be accepted in California, and 2. He's willing to have it sent to him. I've seen way too many people come in asking where their gun is and him having no idea what gun they are talking about because they did not contact him prior to having it sent. Its a one man show there so if there is a line, you need to be patient! Albert will get to you take care of you as soon as he's able. His prices on new stuff is between low to average San Diego prices. His consignment guns can sometimes be priced too high, but that's more the price the is seller then him. It's a great little store and Albert is a great owner. read more

I call to ask about the process of selling firearms in California as I am new to selling firearms and the guy must have been having a very bad day and I'm the lucky one whom he decided to release his frustration and impatience on. I understand that you are a business and know processes forward and backward, but let's try to be more customer centric. I do not work for you, I do not need anything from you, I'm a customer who is trying to have a business relationship with you and who has the ability to send more business in your direction based on my military expertise as it relates to me being a firearm professional. There was someone on the phone who was definitely customer centric; however, I had to call the store back after I obtained more information and the other guy who answered is the reason why I am writing this review. My only intent for this message is to make potential customers aware that there is a very likely chance that you will be interacting with one who takes out his personal moods on customers. If you happen to experience this guy, try to understand that it has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with him. Worst worst customer service. I arrived and the seller (Hispanic heavy set guy) didnt want to come out from the back. After I told him I wanted to buy a gun he came out but it felt he didnt want to be there. He was extremely rude it really felt that his goal was not to sell any guns. Prior to this shop I went to two other shop, huge huge difference in customer service. The other shop were willing to help with forms and requirements, this guy basically told me to go get all requirements and come back. Im a Vet I don't need all the requirements he was talking about. Waaaaaay Over Priced For example. This Shop Sells a Used: Bersa Firestorm 380ACP for $699.00 A Brand New one only cost $349.00 or less at any other reputable gun store in San Diego. I needed some ammunition for a short film I was doing and I remembered there was a gun shop on Broadway. I was bummed out after I found out they stopped selling handguns and rifles a while back. Anyway, I came in and I ended up buying a box of .22 ammunition for about $3.50. I got what I wanted and it was inexpensive. I did end up talking to one of the employees for a while about the reason for wanting to buy the least expensive box of ammunition and it lead to another conversation about films and directors. He made it absolutely clear with his tone and body language that he did not want me inside of his store. Told me he doesn't have inventory to sell me even though he did, just limited selection. My brother is having an ongoing dispute with the owner / employee here. My brother is trying to get a firearm sent back to an FFL in another state due to some confusion on the out of state sellers part, a paid for firearm, which had a non CA compliant magazines sent with it. My brother has no issue with it being sent back. But the owner is making it difficult to get this done. The owner while my brother was on the phone with me called my brother " a bitch" and to handle the situation himself. My brother continues to try and resolve this problem by providing a shipping label to this business and they are saying they cant open the emailed label, when I can open it just fine. The owner tried to over-charge my brother for some shipping because the owner here said you are paying for "my time" as well. This business is in the process of being reported to the ATF for illegally withholding a firearm, that's paid for, and refusing to ship it because he needs to get paid for his time as well, having terrible customer service, and possible 2nd Amendment and 4th Amendment right violations. I can't even fathom someone treating a paying customer like this in any business you are in, especially when the customer is going out of their way to help resolve it. But the owner is making it difficult because he is lazy, rude, and has over priced products. I would recommend shopping elsewhere prior to visiting this establishment. read more

Came in with brother to do a transfer with my brother and purchase a Kris's Vector, this guy started tacking on extra fees and making up new DOJ laws about us not being able to use our brand new unopened locks that we pitched from him a few months ago, he said we must buy newer NEW locks that would have cost an extra $20 on top of the transfer fees an additional $45 to transfer my gun. My brother is a cop and questioned him about all the extra fees, this is when he got irritated and ripped up my application that I was still filling out in front of 2 other customers, told us his time is money and then told us to leave. He completely embarrassed us in front of strangers with nothing but total disrespect I would never recommend this shop to anyone EVER!! If I could give him less than 1 star I would, his customer service skills absolutely suck and he is very disrespectful towards a paying military customer. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

I go here for FFL transfers all the time. Exceptional service and prices for transfers. Some firearm prices are a little high but it comes with the territory with a mom and pops shop. once in a while you'll find some gems and i've purchased several from here. Also, do your research before coming here if you're new. Not all 80% lowers are built the same. just because you can find a specific brand online for $100 cheaper doesn't mean other brands are built the same. read more

If I could give the gun store zero stars I would! My husband spend over 500 for a gun here a year ago. He has been going through the process to get background clear through the government,a year later after doing all the test and going over sea for work. He came back to the gun store where he spent $500 dollars to find out the gun he bought was sold to someone else, and when trying to get his money back the men working there didn't even try to work with him, they simply just stole his money. We will take them to small claims court to get our money back some way. Good costumer service and worked well with my wife and son as we wanted to look at different types of guns. Pleasant exchange the whole time. The only reason why i'm giving three stars is because the 22 bolt action rifle we bought didn't work so well. I feel he should have been a little bit more informed about the condition of the weapon he was selling us. Does it fire, yes it does. But the reloading mechanism sticks not allowing the rounding to be fed into the barrel, and half of the time the round flies out as you're trying to reload. The M&P 40 that I bought seems to be a great gun, a very new condition still, so I am excited about that weapon. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. Wanted to do a private party transfer but I was given the run around about the paperwork. The costumer service here is terrible. The guy stayed in the back and I was forced to yell to get my answers while he sat in the back of the store on his cellphone. Every question that me and my friend ask this worker had a smart remark.
