When I told my physician this at my last appointment, he apologized, and then nothing changed. It is truly disappointing. For example, in order to book a procedure, the insurance department needed to submit a claim to my insurance. My insurance needed a list of all the conservative treatment (e.g., physical therapy) done before they approved the procedure. Rather than the CSSC office sending me an email or phone call to get this information, my insurance sent me a letter letting me know this. I called my insurance to ask if they had told the CSSC office this, and they said they communicated this with the office nearly 2 weeks before they got in touch with me. When I provided the necessary information to the CSSC office, specifically the person who handles insurance, I got no response. After trying to call the office and speak to the person handling insurance, she did not call me back. She emailed me back three weeks later. It was and continues to be truly disappointing.

Dr. Cheng is phenomenal!!!…read more I have been seeing him the last few months and each and every visit I felt calmer and he was extremely reassuring. It's absolutely the best having someone that actually cares about you and listens to you and asks you if you have any more questions ( we all tend to forget when we are in and a ball of nerves.) His expertise is out of the park with an outstanding kind, fun and friendly staff. I highly recommend using comprehensive Spine and Sports Center.I have nothing but wonderful things to say.

The dr never talked to me or checked on her after the procedure. Her staff rushed her out without much care to how she was feeling. His staff is terrible. Don't know where that came from. No organization or care exhibited by this office. I do not recommend this practice. Also the injection did not work.

Looking for other places, this is crazy!

Bcause I didn't want the procedure. She told me my pain was in my head and I need to see a Physic. I left her office with her giving me no medications at all. But you took an Oth to care for people and to help people who has pain. I immediately told my Primary Care Doctor what she told me. I was told to get MRI and go see Nurosurgen. She fails to follow up, takes no accountability, and when confronted, simply dismisses patients without regard for their care. Referral mishandling: A referral was sent to Dr. Punjabi's office, and it took nearly two months to hear back. When they finally did call, they promised to follow up with me--but never did. I had to physically go to the office to make them locate the referral. They eventually scheduled an appointment for my mother, then canceled it by leaving a voicemail on her phone--knowing she doesn't know how to access her messages. No call was made to me. When she arrived at the office, they only saw her as a "courtesy," and the appointment was conducted via Zoom because the doctor wasn't even in. Prescription failure: Dr. Punjabi prescribed patches for my mother, but the prescription could not be filled because the pharmacy required additional details from the office. Once again, no one from the office followed up. I had to drive back to the office to get answers. Luci apologized and claimed she would follow up and send a text. She never did. I had to go to the pharmacy myself to find out they were still waiting for a response from the doctor's office. I had to personally obtain and deliver the information they needed. June 18th appointment: We waited over 45 minutes to be seen. When the doctor finally came in, he said they had no CT scans, MRIs, or images on file--despite us signing release forms well in advance. When I asked why the records weren't obtained, Luci's answer was, "We have too many patients." This is completely unacceptable. Patient care should never be compromised due to poor office workflow or volume. Luci does not proactively manage issues--she waits until something goes wrong and scrambles to fix it. This is not leadership. She should not be managing a medical office. Her response to me was " we have to many patients to follow up" This is not an excuse!!! To make matters worse, when I confronted her about the ongoing lack of communication and follow-through, she dismissed my mother as a patient. There is no accountability at this privately owned facility, and patients--many of whom are in serious pain--are left vulnerable and afraid to speak up for fear of being dismissed. Avoid this facility if you value proper care, communication, and professionalism. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Zachary Landman at Sutter Health instead. He has full access to patient records and works within a system that ensures proper communication and follow-up--unlike the chaos we've experienced here.

We were scheduled to have a procedure completed and a payment was collected. On February 17, we had a change of heart and cancelled said procedure. I was clearly told that the refund would be processed, yet it is now June and I still have not received the money or a clear explanation for the delay. Over the past several months, communication has been inconsistent and unprofessional. I have had to repeatedly follow up for updates, only to receive vague responses or no resolution at all. A medical clinic should operate with integrity, transparency, and accountability, especially when handling patients' finances. While the staff may have initially appeared helpful, failing to honor a promised refund for this long is unacceptable. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this clinic to carefully review financial policies and documentation before making payments. As far as communication, I am very disappointed with the level of communication and professionalism from this clinic. Since February, I have called on seven different occasions and left multiple voicemails requesting a call back from the manager regarding my unresolved refund issue. To this day, I have not received a single response. Management ignoring repeated attempts to communicate with patients is unacceptable, especially when it involves a significant amount of money owed. I expected better customer service, accountability, and transparency from a professional medical office. I hope the clinic takes responsibility and resolves this matter promptly.

Great Doctor, But Billing Practices & Staff Are a Serious Problem…read more The doctor himself is excellent--but unfortunately the experience is overshadowed by everything else. This office's billing practices are deeply concerning. The doctor is in-network, yet they use two different NPIs: * 1760410625 (given to patients - appears out-of-network) * 1154401941 (used for billing under BASS Medical Group - in-network) This creates confusion about coverage and raises serious questions about how claims are being represented to insurers. They also push a "health data plan" fee that has increased every year--from $135 in 2022 to $287 now--with no clear explanation of what patients are actually receiving. There was no meaningful advance notice of these increases. The doctors are also the owners/founders of the Well Brain platform, which is run out of the lower floor of their Pleasant Hill office--making the mandatory "data plan" fee even more questionable. The biggest issue is the staff. They are consistently rude, abrasive, and poorly managed, and when you question fees or decline to pay, the behavior becomes coercive and hostile. It feels like patients are being pressured rather than cared for. What makes this worse is that many patients rely on pain management and are already struggling financially--this kind of pressure and unclear billing is especially harmful. If you're dealing with this: * Report concerns to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Medical Board of California, or the California Department of Managed Health Care * Email BASS Medical Group's Performance Management Team at performanceimprovment@bassmedicalgroup.com -- this was the only thing that stopped the harassment in my case Patients deserve transparency and respect--not conflicting NPIs, surprise fee increases, and pressure tactics. Do not sign anything you are not comfortable with, and get all NPIs, fees, and network status in writing before agreeing to care.
