She sat down, looked me in the eyes, and actually listened. Not the kind of listening where someone blankly nods, we have a conversation and after fully listening she shows me useful tips to do to help relieve tension on my own time. Then as we are going through the process she is explaining while she is working on my body what each part does, so not only am I learning but I am being healed. She even hand wrote me a note with bullet points of foods that may have caused the inflammation and what to be conscious about. No chiropractor goes to that lengths. She isn't just a chiropractor. She's is a person who genuinely cares about getting you better and has the skill to back it up. The office is spotless, the hours are accommodating, and the results are the kind you tell strangers about.

Not only that I have a past surgery issue, which resulted in a lit of scar tissues. I worked with Dr. Julie and she was just amazing! She cares about you and getting you better. She's not afraid to go a bit hard on you if it means that you can get better. I used to have pain and students from the surgery and now I don't! I've had this issue for over 30 years and Dr. Julie is able to help me within a few months. I wished I did this earlier. While I'm not over my fear of needles, the benefits of it outweigh my fear. Also, use your insurance if you can, it really helps!

However, it seems only recently that these pains have been getting much worse. After talking to my mother about it, she suggested I try acupuncture. I was hesitant at first, but I had nothing to lose. As I arrived for my appointment, I was super nervous, but Dr. Chon was very welcoming. After informing her about my neck and back pains, she immediately knew what needed to be done. My session consisted of both cupping and regular acupuncture with needles. First, she placed these glass suction cups on the areas I was feeling pain. You'll definitely feel the pressure from the cups, but it was already relieving some pain for me so that was nice. About 10 minutes later, Dr. Chon removed the glass cups and she started pricking the area with a pen needle and oh dear, this part HURT A LOT for me. I'm usually good with pain, but it was extremely uncomfortable. Afterwards, she places the suction cups back on in which it will draw the "bad" blood up and eventually coagulate. She showed me the blood that was drawn out and it was extremely dark. She explained that this blood needs to be removed so new and healthy blood can be produced to help with circulation and in aiding the muscles. Afterwards, she removed the cups, cleaned the area and began placing the acupuncture needles all over, including my face, which I was not expecting! The needles were left in for another 10-20 minutes. The verdict? I think the session with Dr. Chon was helpful. I am still feeling a few aches here and there, but I do feel much better than before. I probably need to return for a few more sessions if I want to fully heal, but honestly... That pricking part discourages me from doing so! It stings so badly! Not to mention, depending on your body, you will come out with some gnarly bruises, so plan accordingly. It's been a few days and the areas where I got the cupping done is still purple. All in all, Dr. Chon is sweet and very knowledgeable in what she does. If you have pain or suffering from other ailments in which you think acupuncture will greatly help, I suggest giving Dr. Chon a try!

The space itself is cozy, clean, and welcoming, and the front desk is incredibly friendly! Even though it required her to stay after closing, Dr. Shen was kind enough to see us and we were able to walk with a boot without crutches days later and the overall healing took less than half the expected time. Our family has since visited this office multiple times because they TAKE INSURANCE so the cost is a fraction of what we used to pay at the other clinics we have frequented. This has allowed us to address not only acute issues but more systematic health concerns that need to be approached over the long term. Dr. Shen is knowledgeable, professional, and I appreciate her combo of needlework and acupressure. In addition, her massage therapist is amazing and her office staff are some of the friendliest that I have met.
