Adorable tea shop that I stumbled upon at Findlay Market. Lots of loose leaf teas - over 250 varieties according to their store. The teas are sold by the ounce and really reasonably priced. I purchased a vanilla spiced chai black tea and a gorgeous tea tin to store it in. They have a second location in Cincinnati as well. This will definitely be a frequent stop for me when I am in the area as it's hard to find such a great selection of loose leaf teas in Indianapolis. read more

We visited Churchill's on a weekday afternoon while at the Findlay Market. Churchill's has an extraordinary amount of tea to choose from. If there is a tea you are looking for, it is likely they have it. You can get a tea made on the spot or choose loose tea to take home. The menu is easy to read and understand. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was nice to find a tea shop while in Cincinnati. Coffee shops are everywhere, but sometimes tea shops are hard to find. I ordered a pu-erh tea. It is a fermented tea I have had several times before. Their version was much smoother than the pu-erh's I have had in the past. The shop was easily accessible and for a small shop it was easy to get around. The teas were nicely displayed and there were pre-made gifts sets available. I was thrilled to stumble into Churchill's Fine Teas and it does smell marvelous when you walk through the door! There is a little sample right in front of you when you enter and the walls are lined with tea and merchandise. The teas- hmmmm. So many to choose from, and even though I don't currently need tea (like honey in my house, I have so much!), I couldn't resist the Italian Wedding Cookie and Creme Brulee teas. I have a favorite from decades ago- a coffee cake tea, sounds crazy- but to this day that tea just took me back to my childhood and baking with mom in the kitchen. I am always on the lookout for something similar or just a good flavorful tea! The staff here went above and beyond to help me and even pointed me to a honey shop around the corner! I LOVE Churchill's, but this location is not only difficult for logistical reasons (parking is horrid), but it's in what I would consider a dangerous neighborhood. When I tried to visit a week ago, I couldn't find parking at the lots close by, and further than a block away, there were homeless people, what were possibly hookers standing on corners, graffiti covered abandoned buildings, and generally speaking, not people I would trust leaving my car unattended nearby. Sorry Churchill's. I just can't jive with the personal safety issues here. Highly recommend the other location! read more

I really wanted a tea advent calendar, but it's so hard to find a caffeine-free version. I wound up ordering from Churchill's even though it was more than I was planning to spend ($56 with shipping). And I am so very glad I did. The calendar was a long string of twine with mini clothespins and little Christmas envelopes. I strung it up as a garland on my bookshelf and it was a really nice Christmas decoration. It came beautifully boxed with a ribbon, and with a pamphlet about tea preparation. When it came to actually opening one of the envelopes each day, there was a little sealed bag with two generous servings of tea, and a little card explaining the flavor and how to prepare it (although since I got all herbals, the instruction for time and temp were always the same). The varieties were so much fun! Not just endless rooibos flavors, but fun variations of herbs, spices, and dried fruits. There was even one with tomato and cucumber - not my favorite, but much more delicious than it sounds. I really enjoyed every day. Churchill's is not local to me, but I really wish it was. I would stop by all the time to find new teas to try. If you're a local, you're very, very lucky! read more

When you desperately need experts with a passion for tea: go to Churchill's! I have been coming here for years. Need to know exactly how to best brew oolong vs. make matcha? They'll teach you! If you just want to stop in for a free tea sample while in Findlay Market it's an easy choice (they had Italian Christmas Cookie today!) My favorite part about getting the sample teas is they actually taste just as good when I make them at home - the Churchill's employees really do have a knack for teaching you how to best brew their teas. After spending some time in Buenos Aires I am always sniffing out a good mate (as in, the herbal tea, not a life partner). I'm not sure if it's truly Porteño-approved (or just an American bastardization) but Churchill's spiced chai Yerba mate will put some pep in your step! It's a bit spicy which dampens/ counterbalances the sometimes woodsy taste that mate usually has - I love it. I'm getting to the point where I have a store for every single one of my niche interests. Came here on the Findlay market food tour and so glad that we did it because probably would not have checked this place out on my own. The staff members were so knowledgeable about their teas. We sampled their good fortune up-erh iced tea which was great! Slightly fruity taste and not sweet at all. Goes down just like water for me! Very refreshing. Most of their teas are loose leaf though. They do have some occasional tea bag tea leaves. They have lots of tea pot sets and tools too. From fruity teas to Asian teas to healing teas, they have it all. They have so many different types of tea and is a great place to grab your tea, get them as gifts for people too! I heard they also do an advent tea calendar, they sell out every year they say. The quick: Great selection. Helpful and friendly staff. The slow: A shop dedicated solely to teas, at Findlay Market in Cincinnati. My initial thought was that this wasn't really a store for me. But the few times I have been in town, I have been with people interested in stopping in. So we did. There are usually a couple teas made up to be sampled. This brilliant bit of promotion is what actually influenced me to buy something from here! The cinnamon green tea that was made up was crazy delicious, even without my usual too-much-sugar added! If nothing else, perusing the wall of tea tins, looking at them, finding weird/cool names, smelling things....is more fun than it sounds. They also sell accoutrements for all your tea making and drinking needs...diffusers, bags, pots, mugs...whatever you need. They even had a promotion for a tea advent calendar. Such an adorable little shop in Findlay Market. Once you walk in, usually you will be greeted with a friendly smile and tea samples to try. One side contains a several tea samples you can smell separated by type:Oolong, Green, White, Roobos, Black and etc; while the other side contains tea related items that would make great gifts (IE matcha kit, kettle, etc). If you love to smell things like me, literally you could spend an hour until you find the perfect tea since they have such a large variety. Their prices are quite reasonable with most teas priced around $2-4 dollars for 1 oz (though some specialty teas are $5-7 per 1 oz). Since I am still new to tea, I love being able to buy several 1 oz bags of tea to test them out for a couple of weeks without worrying about wasting a lot of money on something I might not enjoy. So far, I've tried the Sencha Green Tea, Silky Milk Oolong Tea and French Vanilla Black Tea. If you enjoy having English Breakfast black tea with milk and/or cream definitely try the Silky Milk Oolong Tea. This tea tastes just as good without the saturated fats and added calories! I do admit there is definitely a difference in taste, but it is close enough substitute for me. Overall I am so happy I decided to finally go into this shop. I recommend stopping here for your tea needs and to avoid large chains since this tea tastes BETTER and is MUCH cheaper. I am also looking forward to going to one of their tea tastings. It's safe to say that these teas are the best I've tasted ever. With that being said, Kathleen the owner did not greet me when I walked into the store. There was another employee at the register helping another client, but Kathleen was available on the floor stocking items. I did not even get a hi, hello, welcome, can I help you at all from her. If it had not been for her kind employee, this place wouldn't have gotten any sales from me. The other employee was helpful and explained in detail about loose leaf teas and the different kinds (black, rooibos, herbal, green). I bought 4 one ounce teas to try out at home (apple strudel, blueberry apple, lemon moringa, cinnamon) None of their teas taste like the store bought name brand teas which is good. Churchill's Fine Tea remains the best non-chain cute family owned tea store in Cincy. All tea variations are created and mixed by them. What I love is that you can order online and pick up in store, sometimes even on the same day. That is so convenient. I get way too overwhelmed in store and after sniffing more than 3 teas I do not even know what I want anymore, so for me reading the ingredients and ordering online works far better :) I love that Churchill's expanded and offer many sorts of classes, tea tastings and a monthly tea club. They also make Hokiday Tea Calendar and offer a lot of useful gadgets in store. At the original Findlay location there is always at least one tea brewed for tasting, which is how I sometimes discover something new and unexpected that I like. As for some of my favorites: -I highly recommend Creamy Earl Grey, I prefer decaf, an English classic with bergamot and sunflower petals for creaminess - Rooibos Tuscan Sun, lovely sunny warming tea with lavender and flower petals - Tropicana Green Tea, not really a green tea, it's a delicious mix of dried fruit with some green tea to balance the sweetness -Casablanca, fruit tea that looks and tastes divine -Blueberry Apple Pie Roibos , do I need to say more? If you consider yourself serious about tea, then Churchill's is the place to go. It's a small place but they have an absolutely massive inventory. When you walk in, all of their teas are listed up on the wall to your left. Since the shop is small and can become pretty cramped with more than just a couple of people inside, it can be hard to read the list in completion. My biggest tip to you is to take your time! It's worth reading the entire thing maybe even twice to make sure you've seen all of them. The table in the center of the room offers teapots and accessories, as well as usually having a sample or two out to try. What I appreciate about Churchill's the most would be the flavors they have. There is another tea shop north of Churchill's that also has a wide variety, but their flavors tend to be more ... gimmicky, I guess the word would be. Things like birthday cake and candy. While I'm sure they are delicious, I prefer classics and certainly prefer my tea to hold health benefits and that's where Churchill's comes in. Their flavors are classic and true to form. Customer service has been just as I need; they are there to answer questions, they are friendly and give you space to wander. No complaints there! I've been many times, but my most recent trip ended in me walking out with two black teas: chocolate drizzle and pumpkin spice. While on High Street in Kensington we were approached at Marks & Spencer by a relative of the store's owner, who told us about the tea room in Cincinnati. Hungry for scones and clotted cream after our afternoon tea breaks across the pond, we drove a few hours to Churchill's in Cincinnati and were not disappointed. Almost immediately we were greeted by the aforementioned relatives and told them who had sent us. They laughed with us at the roundabout circumstances bringing us to the tea room that day before serving us a delicious English tea. This place is amazing. I cannot recommend it enough. Their selection of teas is incredible and I loved going to their shops when I lived nearby. They even have purple tea, which is still a rather niche type of tea, but one of my favorites. I was always blown away by the vast selection they have and always found something new and interesting. However, what really sealed the deal for me was when I moved away and started ordering online. Easy process and everything was beautifully packaged. Churchill's has one of the most complete collections of tea in Cincinnati. The staff are warm and knowledgeable, and though most of their accessories are a bit girly for my taste, they have plenty of tea ware to choose from for a shop their size. Located inside Findlay Market, Churchill's can be an adventure to get to given how hard parking can be to find, predominantly on the weekends. Formerly located in Tower Place Mall in the business district, Churchill's relocated to Findlay Market and dropped the cafe side of the business. While I find that disappointing, I do think they've benefited from the ability to focus on their tea craft! Not only are they overflowing with tea variety, but the staff is always friendly, very knowledgeable, and ready to help. I stumbled upon Churchill's while exploring Findlay Market this past weekend. The walls of this small shop are chocked full of sample, tea tins. You can sample a few teas that are in carafes on tables near the front windows. I sniffed my way through their varied offerings of green, white, and rooibos teas. You can chose any amount of any tea that catches your fancy. I decided to try an ounce of Hot Cincinnati rooibos ($2.75/oz), a red tea with plenty of spicy cinnamon, perfect for the cold, rainy weather ahead. Churchill's carries any array of tea pots and accessories, so I also picked up a new tea ball for under $4. The only drawback to this quaint shop is the parking situation. On a busy Sunday, it was a challenge to find a spot in the adjacent, paid lot. In the future, I might try to go earlier in the day to try and avoid the masses. read more

They also have all the up-sale items you'd expect that make great gifts to friends into tea. They have different teas prepared for you to try daily without any commitment. They are knowledgeable and offer a tea tasting where you get some education as well as tea and crumpets ( I've always wanted to say that). What an AMAZING tea shop in the heart of Findlay Market! We love tea in our house, including everything from boring PG Tips tea bags to fancy loose leaf teas. I have been craving some jasmine tea, and stopped in here recently. The price for my tea felt more than reasonable, and the tea is some of the best and tastiest jasmine I've ever had!
