This past Saturday I came in for an iced tea on a warmer day. I was looking forward to a pastery or bagel as well. They did not have too much of a selection but they do carry Cincinnati small bussiness. I got the blueberry hibiscus tea and it was alright, nothing special. My boyfriend got a dirty chi that was pretty good. There is not too much seating since students like to come and study. There were a few seats outside which is nice on a warm sunny day. The tables are attractive and the chairs are COMFY. 86 Coffee Bar is amazing because of the views of coffee being made at a distance or up close. The worker was kinda rude but that's not the point I ordered a matcha latte with strawberry syrup and I actually don't know if they added any matcha. As soon as I got it I was like woah the color is wayyy off and when I tried it, it tasted like strawberry milk. I get that it's a COFFEE shop BUT if you are going to add matcha to your menu at least make it right. I'm visiting Cincinnati but if I were to come back I would not come back to this coffee shop. The matcha is nasty but the aesthetics of the place is amazing. I probably should've just tried their coffee but yea don't add something to your menu that you guys don't know how to make! read more

I could tell the syrups + milk were homemade and local, which is super important to me in a local shop. So much space to sit + the vibes were awesome. 86 Uptown is a quaint, small local cafe and is a popular spot for coffee for those in UC. It's 2 stories and you can grab an armchair/small table to yourself. The menu is a bit limited. There's coffee as expected, but not as many food options other than typical ones that you see at any local coffee shops nearby. But that is to be expected of a small cafe anyways. Lots of people seem to come here to catch up, chat, work etc and you are free to do whatever and the shop won't bother you..which was nice. Amazing bagels and good drinks. An exact copycat of Rohs cafe but I understand its owners by the same people. Customer service is not great. I ordered ice coffee and got given cold brew, when I tried to reorder it I got cold brew again, the barista complained to his coworker that they didn't have it so it wasn't his fault. Okay that's not my fault either just communicate! Also during the Fall there was another rude barista when I ordered a pumpkin drink he complained that that's all the women are ordering to his coworker, and how it's basic. This place is packed full of students and with two levels to choose from, it's full every.single.day! Managed by good people that support great causes. Artists can get 100% of their commissions which just speaks volumes about how much respect they have for local artists. I'm always greater nicely and fairly. If you know coffee and the University of Cincinnati, you know The 86 Uptown. It's right off campus and has decent prices for the college student budget. There is the main floor, upstairs, and outdoor seating. We almost went outside but the workers weren't sure how to turn on the lights outside (might be off for the season). We went upstairs and sat in the comfy couches, playing games on the coffee table. There are plenty of games provided! This place is great for coming by yourself or with groups, to study or to hang. Music is playing and people are chatting so expect a casual study environment if you're trying to focus. I had the hot chocolate, it's a dark chocolate and was tasty. Definitely a nice full serving, more than my typical 8 oz packets. Staff is sweet and quick. Atmosphere is warm and comfy. Will be back! read more

Looking for a new coffee shop to try on a Sunday afternoon and stumbled across The 86 Coffee Bar by UC's Campus. Upon entering we were greeted right away by two very friendly ladies behind the bar. They were extremely helpful navigating the menu. I ordered the Cinnamon Latte and it was up within minutes. The latte was delicious! It had the perfect ratio of espresso, cinnamon, and milk. They have a few different milk alternatives as well. For someone that doesn't live in the neighborhood or go to UC, parking can be a little tricky as it's all street parking in a very walkable area. This is the perfect coffee shop for college students though as well. They have a decent amount of seating, plenty of power at the seats and they even offer bottomless mugs of coffee for those long days of studying. I will definitely stop back in here for a coffee next time I'm in the area. read more

Wanted to try a new coffee shop and got to visit the 86 Coffee Bar on a Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of outlets available for people who were doing work and I appreciated the free WiFi with no time limit. The chairs also had some cushion to them and the booths were comfortable. Parking is slightly more challenging with street parking, but it wasn't too hard to find a spot a short walk away. I'm sure this place is probably extremely busy during the school year, but over the summer, there were plenty of seats. I was staying nearby and needed an afternoon pick me up. My hotel's coffee shop had closed (who closes at 11am???) so I looked for some nearby options where I could grab a cold brew and landed on the 86 Uptown. Street parking was tough but it was nice there was a pay lot up the block. It's right by the university and I was there during move in week so I saw a lot of students carrying boxes to the nearby apartment complex and there were lots of students making their way in and out of the shop doors when I arrived. I zipped in and was immediately charmed by the space. There's plenty of seating and the space is open and well lit. I saw the nitro taps and knew that was what I wanted so I requested one of those from the friendly barista. My order was ready quickly and the nitro was smooth and delicious. I added a little simple syrup since I have a sweet tooth and was on my way. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area again! read more

Still probably my favorite coffee shop when I am in town but was disappointing when you rush to get there after getting in town late, cannot find parking, run a couple city blocks to get there and at 8:53 they tell you everything is cleaned up and they cannot even make you a London Fog. It would be nice to have the 86 back in Reno. The waitstaff are super friendly and they know their product. Earlier this month, I was suffering from a meh, totally undecided, comatose moment. Approach one Stephanie with a total blank stare saying "White Mocha with raspberry, largely done, right?" I woke up and snapped "Sure....Yeah...that sounds great...make it a frappe with whip" Well she was spot on. That bad boy drank smooth and easy (I was tempted to get another). I've gone on to other great blends and side goodies, too! I can also see why this would be popular with the students or sales reps. It's big enough for everybody and the atmosphere is perfect for focusing on your schoolwork or even a small business klatch. Of course they roast in-house and serve a mean banana bread. Great coffee shop right across from the UC campus. So definitely a younger vibe with lots of students. Besides your typical espresso drinks, they offer kombucha, smoothies, and some pastries. I came here with a friend to get coffee and study. The employees were masked and most people who weren't actively drinking or eating were masked. We were worried we weren't going to find a seat because it seemed pretty busy but people moved in and out pretty quickly. It was definitely packed when we came around 2:30pm though so keep that in mind when going. It was pretty loud but I actually prefer to work in a louder busier setting, so if you really need pace and quiet, this probably would not be the best coffee shop for you to work in. I got a London Fog with oat milk. I was so happy they had oat milk because a lot of smaller coffee shops don't carry oat milk as an option. It was really tasty and was not too sweet. I really enjoyed the tea blend they used to make the London Fog. I'll definitely be back to try some more of their selections or to study again! read more

The atmosphere is very relaxing and calming. Most of the time I have been in here everyone is on their laptops studying or doing homework. The drinks are very good from their Italian sodas to their lattes, everything tastes good. For price reference Italian sodas are $3.25 and lattes are closer to $6. I know many of the employees are volunteering here to get their hours for their scholarships at the university of Cincinnati. This makes the employees feel more like peers to college students like me. Makes them more relatable and they are always super friendly. Bathrooms are always very clean and in good condition. Something I would like to mention is that parking is a hassle around the 86 and the store is not accessible. There are stairs at every entrance and the bathroom is at the top of another flight of stairs. For these reasons I am taking a star off. This coffee shop has board games upstairs and the atmosphere is very enjoyable with local artists selling art on the walls and even hosting plant sales. There is always something good to get out of visiting this coffee shop. It is conveniently located right next to the University of Cincinnati which is how I got exposed to it but now that I have to drive to it I have to go at odd hours to get parking. read more

At an early hour, I was able to find metered street parking (which is pretty affordable in Clifton) right outside. I was greeted with a warm welcome the moment I walked in the door. The menu is displayed on the screens above. The menu has everything from coffee to tea and Italian sodas. The food selections are pretty limited, but I ordered some oatmeal and that definitely got the job done! The interior is really aesthetically pleasing; modern with lots of seating. I was able to snag the cool corner booth which is a great spot to hold a casual meeting or sit with some friends and chat over coffee. The prices seemed super reasonable and my tea was great! My smoothie was not--it was a concentrate so I was disappointed. But there are stairs to a second level where you can look outside the windows, there are board games, and large chess pieces to play chess. If I lived here, I would come here to study. read more

This was my first time visiting the 86 in its new location on Jefferson! The ambiance is pleasant and I'm a big fan of the music they play. There is seating downstairs & upstairs and it was not overly crowded at the time that I went. The coffee is quality and prices are very reasonable! Where this visit fell short is the chocolate muffin. I wasn't aware that the inside was half cheesecake filling & I'm not sure what the other half was supposed to be...
