First, it's at a competitive location. Chick-fil-A is very close to the freeway exit, and Raising Cane's is across the street. And that's just the chicken. The short distance between I-10 and 11th Street has a lot of places to eat, including a Dairy Queen. Time will tell how well Layne's does. The food is pretty good, right about at Cane's level. The chicken fingers are smaller, which works out for people with smaller appetites. The Hunny had regular and I had spicy, we both enjoyed our meals. She had hers inside two slices of Texas toast, and they kept falling out. Several sauces are available: honey mustard (me), buttermilk ranch (her), BBQ, Layne's special, I forget the other. Or you can do like I did and douse the chicken with Cholula. So, pretty good, not all that memorable. It's certainly not bad, and the price is good. But Chick-fil-A has a larger selection, and is better funded with so many restaurants nationwide. And Cane's has a quirky character that stands out from the rest. Compared to them, Layne's has joined the crowd like a minor political party among the Democrats and Republicans, shouting "Hey! Look at me! I'm here too!" It doesn't have the distinctives of either Chick-fil-A or Cane's, but I think it can still succeed. Go ahead and stop by, you should like what you get.

I've patronized Golden Chick quite a few times, but this visit was very disturbing. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I just kept my composure. I'm deeply disappointed in the staff. If the manager who was on duty doesn't like their job the best thing to do is quit and find something else because there are plenty of people looking for employment. I then asked how much for a side and told him I needed (2) and he said that it would be 209 extra. I paid my deposit of 250.00 which he did not disclose was non-refundable. I called him in August 14th one month prior to the event to tell him I needed to make changes to my orders and asked for the new price. He said ok he'll call and did not reach out. Week of my event I call to see the pickup arrangements he tells me my orders not paid in full. I explained to him everything was paid in full minus the 2 pans of pasta which he quoted were 250.00 a pan toting 500.00 should have been deducted from my order since I'm no longer needing those dishes. And, that I notified him a month in advance that I no longer needed. I reached out to his business partner asking him to see if I had a balance and explained to him I made changes to my order and the amount should be cheaper they both tell me that they gave me a deal and the price of food has gone up that even though I'm not getting the 2 dishes of pasta anymore. His business partner states the price is staying the same. I then asked for my refund back and was told that they'll give me everything minus the deposit of 250.00 which was not disclosed as NON Refundable and he called me in rage cursing me out and talking loud telling me he didn't appreciate me calling his brother which is his said business partner and as I tried to explain to him why I called he's kept cutting me off not allowing to speak and tells me No one can tell him how to run his business and I'd better ask someone who Mikee August is and hung up in my face. I even tried to get a male friend to try to talk to him and he cursed him out telling him oh you calling to try to defend her?! And also told him to ask someone who Mikee was only to not allow him to talk and hung up in his face. As of right now there has not been a refund provided $700.00 or the 450.00 minus the deposit nor has there been food received. I'm very DISPLEASED with the unprofessionalism, attempted intimidation, and disrespect that was displaced by these "Business professionals". And will never ever refer any business to them moving forward nor do business with them.
