This location is incredibly slow. I sat in the drive thru for 10-15 minutes before I got to the ordering speaker, for a DoorDash order.

I've been a fan of HiBoy for over 40 years. Most of my visits have been to the Blue Ridge location…read morebut have stopped here plenty of times too. This place has a dining area, so a big plus over the BR location. Like some other burger joints that I grew up on; HiBoy has lost some of it's luster over the decades for me. It's still a solid burger - large and topped with lots of chopped onions, pickles, lettuce and a burger sauce. The tots and O-rings are always good and gotta love a place where you can get a shake or cyclone along with your meal. It's not that HiBoy has changed - other than the pricing keeps going up - it's that there are so many independent "gourmet" burger shacks have sprung up around the city (Cosmo, Danny's, Tay's...) and some very solid chain options (5 Guys, Freddies, What-a-Burger...) so I'm no longer inclined to drive 15 miles for my HiBoy fix anymore. It's now about if I'm in the neighborhood and need a burger, then I stop. I'm still gonna give 5 stars for being so consistent over the decades, the charitable work they do, and just being a local institution for ever. Next time in driving down 24 hwy, Blue Ridge CTO or 291 hwy, I'm sure I'll stop in.

Their tater tots are bland. No flavor whatsoever! Nada, zip, zilch! Cheeseburger is at best a 4 out…read moreof 10. No seasoning just a smash burger with sauces, pickle and onion. Service staff is friendly. Lots of tables and booths. About 20 total. Their prices are excessive for the flavor. Jr Cheeseburger $4.75. Regular tot $3.49 for flavorless. Large drink $3.29. No value prices here. If flavor was present I'd be ok with the price. Let's work on taste Hi-Boy. Maybe some new brand of tots or season them better.

Tried out Mugs Up in Independence, Missouri, and absolutely loved the old-school drive-in…read moreatmosphere. The carhops came right up to our window to take our order and were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The menu is surprisingly large for such a small place. We ordered the Wiz Burger, chicken nuggets, tots, onion rings, fries, and Brown Cow root beer floats. Prices were very reasonable, which was a nice bonus. One thing I really loved was the option to order their homemade root beer in an ice-cold glass mug (which you return when you're done). It definitely adds to the nostalgic experience. Our favorite items were the crispy tater tots, the chicken nuggets (which were more like mini chicken strips), and the root beer floats. The Wiz Burger was definitely unique, but it wasn't a crowd-pleaser in our car. It's made with loose meat mixed with onions, pickles, and cheese, which may appeal to some but wasn't our favorite. I'd definitely go back to try the chicken sandwich, pork tenderloin, or spicy buffalo dog. The food itself might be closer to 3 stars, but the unique throwback nostalgia of the carhop era bumps the overall experience into 4-star territory. It's a must-try-at-least-once kind of place.

I stopped in recently, all the 70 years in buisness got my attention. Sincerely from my heart…read morecongratulations. I bought the mug for Independence memorabilia. My review is, for me, the burger, its not that good, its just not for me. My expectation was, they had the "IT FACTOR" for the burgers. Something you would have expected from the day, 60/70 years ago. The old larger bun, not biscuit size, grilled burger meat, mine seemed losely patted and steamed and more than pickle, onion and mustard. Maybe thats just the way its always been and others love it. Im glad I went but it is a one stop for me. I wish you another 70 years of continued service and a great icon of Independence, Mo.
