Highly overpriced subpar meals... basic fried food absolutely nothing special or different about this place vs other fried chicken places. A single "meal" of 5 small chicken tenders and an order of a couple other small sides was over $30. Inflation has completely destroyed this country and any sense of reason when it comes to pricing of food. Thanks to Joe and Kamala for that! (As well as everything else being over priced) Fast food chains like this one, Cane's, 5 Guys, etc etc are price gouging like there's no tomorrow. Churches. It's was fair, service was not the best, butttt the food was hot, the food came out fast, it was ok chicken. My first time trying churches. Yes I would go back again, but it's not as good as canes. Food was okay. Nothing special. Service could be better. We went to the drive thru and the guy was grumpy. He was probably having a bad day. Someone dropped a bag of food on the floor and casually put it back on the counter. I guess it's fine because the food stayed in the paper bag. That's our first time going there. Horrible! I was so looking forward to the church's chicken since the last time I been to one more than 25 years ago and I seen they finally opened a nice one in Modesto. I went to the Modesto one and ordered a mobile order, the order I placed was a big order and when I got there there wasn't any customers or cars in the drive thru which was a big indicator. The lady came up to me and asked me can I help you and I said I'm here to pickup my mobile order. She immediately grabbed the mobile order receipt and was working on the order. I looked around and it seemed ok at first. She then started to take an order in the drive through as she was finishing up my order. She gave me one huge bag with all my food and asked if everything was in the bag and she said yes. I left and headed home and on the way home all I kept thinking about was that o just spent $74 on fried chicken and chicken strip meals plus drinks and sauces and i said I better hope it's fresh and hot. I bit into my chicken and my kids ate their strips and I was so freaking disappointed as the chicken was cold! My kids barely complain about food and they said there strips were cold! If I wanted cold chicken I would have just gone to a local grocery store and bought cold fried chicken in the deli for way cheaper! My wife's meal had mashed potatoes that tasted like soap and she threw it all away. I can't believe i paid $74 for cold and bland tasting chicken and potatoes! Heard all the hype so thought I would check it out.i ordered the 10 PC tender meal that comes with biscuits and sides. I added the jalapeño bombs. And got the free two piece combo with rewards sign up. The price wasn't bad but the tenders were just soggy. No crisp to them and they didn't give me my sides so after waiting forever in line and not checking my order as to not hold up the line I had to return for my sides. So ended up with tenders no sides for lunch. When I came back it was hectic, packed and dirty in the restaurant. I know it's new but you have to do better. The biscuits were ok. Terrible on multiple levels. I don't know where to start. I ordered from here 3 times and it was a disaster each time. It always takes at least 40 minutes to get my food. Place is supposed to open until 10 but they had wrote a sign saying closing at 8 and drive thru only. I got to the window an hour before they close and they didn't have tenders, fries, or jalapeño poppers!!! Each time I come to the location they manage to miss one or more items I ordered. I'm a corporate supervisor myself and seriously the manager needs to be fired!! I visited the location in the early afternoon, late afternoon, and evening and it was horrible each and every time. I tried filling the survey to help their parent company know what's going on and their survey like for that location is not active. I give up. read more

Service inside over 1 hour wait. They were not that busy. Everyone who works there saying they don't work there. Everyone in the dining room was annoyed nobody is eating. By the time they got to our order they were out of everything. We got our food finally and it wasn't worth the $41 for 2 tender strip meals instead received 2 chicken sandwiches. This place is overpriced for food that ain't close to worth it. The chicken is pink in the middle in most pieces and the rest were over cooked and dry. It had no flavor hardly at all just tasted nasty. The Mac and cheese is 2.29 to add to the meal and it is bland and has the texture of Mash potatoes. The biscuit lacks flavor and my wife bit into one and found a bug in the middle. The fries were the best part and they weren't hot or super crispy but had decent flavor. This place needs to close down for good. Your better off going somewhere else. You try to call the business and you can't it's just pathetic honestly. I wish I could get my 55 dollars back. Absolutely shocked at the level of unprofessionalism from one of the shift leads or managers Brian Lee... between taking 40 minutes to get us our food when it wasn't busy, only one other family in there who already had their food, to yelling at me & making false accusations when I asked for a refund on one thing (even though our entire order was ice cold, our food was half prepared sitting forever while he was prioritizing drive through orders, for numbers & time I'm sure) He lied to me when I asked his name (said it was Pedro) & again when I called to attempt speak to another manager about his actions saying he already contacted the district manager. Thankfully I made a formal complaint with corporate & did get to speak to the district manager who informed me he NEVER spoke to her & she had just gone through the day before undercover & had the same issue with the same item I returned due to being ice cold & he was the one on shift. If this man still works here my family & I will never return. Sad because this was our very first trip to a Church's chicken ever. The man wouldn't even return my original receipt to me after getting the refund for the one item even though I asked multiple times & settled on asking to take a picture of it, to which he then folded the entire top down to try & conceal the store identifiers & cashier name. I demanded I at least be able to take a picture of my FULL receipt & to unfold it which he finally did. Wow!!!! Go to this with high expectations and was excited that only 3 cars were in line. After waiting 12 minutes to move up 2 spots and order. We finally made it to the window. Had to restate our order multiple times. Watched as the guy who n the ponytail who was bagging our food wiped out his ear with his shirt. Then the window guy returns and asks us what we ordered. Then asks if we are sure we didn't get our food. Asks for our recipe and calls over ponytail man and he says I think I have them their food. We asked for a refund. I've been wanting to try this place because I liked the one in Stockton, but it's such a far drive. I got excited when they opened here. I went two weeks ago at 7:30pm, and a lady told us the place was closed inside mine you they closed at 10pm. We left and decided to try it again today. Bad choice. It was the slowest service we've had. There were only 2 other people ordering and dining in the whole place, and it took over 25 minutes. It would have been okay, but the chicken was flavorless, undercook and they ran out of sauce and dip. It's not the same flavor as the one in Stockton.
