The first time I read about Churro Parlor online, I sent the link to my husband and tried to convince him we needed to go immediately. He wasn't having it. While I'm not sure why I didn't simply put on my shoes and go alone, I waited a few weeks. And the wait was worth it. Churro Parlor is nestled in the entrance of Cafe El Tapatio, which I've reviewed. It's a small space but well-decorated with soft colors, white lights, and a few seats. The menu features a variety of churros with creative twists. I have to admit, though, that I am a churro purist and always go for the Jane - simple cinnamon and sugar on a loop of golden fried dough. We've tried a few other flavors and while they're good, I just don't think you can improve upon the original in a meaningful way. The staff here are kind and helpful. They also make a mean espresso beverage - my favorite is the Mexican mocha with just a kick of spice to it. It's clear that the owner and staff are passionate about churros and also excellent customer service. I always look forward to our visits for a sweet treat, and am excited about being able to linger a bit longer in the summer when the weather is better. read more

Lovely little walk-in closet that happens to sell fantastic churros with creative flavors. Came here for a yelp event and got a free churro ice cream sandwich and then we bought each of the churro options and 2 dips. All of the churros tasted great, the fresh dough makes the difference between this and other churro places i've had. We got the Party like it's 99 churro wich, which was really good. Get the gummy bears on the side because they don't really make sense in it, they get frozen and hard to eat. My favorite churro was the triple berry cream cheese and the ganache cookie crumble. Churro Parlor is such a great little shop - I love everything about them! On my first visit, finding the place was a bit challenging as it is located inside of Cafe El Tapatio. It has limited barstool seating and is designed mainly for carryout. The place is very cute with neon lights, decal painted brick wall, and a handwritten menu. It's cozy and cute. They serve some seriously delicious churros (I've tried churros in Mexico and at the original churro cafe in Spain and I can confidently say that Churro Parlor serves excellent churros). You can get a plain churro here but why stop there? They have different types of flavors to add to your churros along with dipping sauce. They make the churros fresh so don't expect to walk in and walk out right away. I can definitely make some time to eat some fresh churros. I've been here a few times already and have tried everything on their menu. You can't go wrong with anything here but my favorite so far is the Mau and the Prudence. That sweet condensed milk and cinnamon just hits the right spot for me. If you want to try the churro-wich (churro ice cream sandwich), make sure to eat it fast! The warm churros and ice cream are great but will get soggy really fast. Also don't forget to try their drinks. They have Mexican hot chocolates, which are delicious! I really enjoyed the Valdes, which is Mexican hot chocolate with espresso. It goes perfectly well with fresh and warm churros. My boyfriend and I love churros so we decided to stop by and try some fresh made ones. These churros are top notch. Hot from the fryer with whatever topping choice you choose. I do recommend to get extra dipping sauce. We tried the Abuela churrowich, the Aunt Rose, the Berry White and the Prudence! All were fantastic!! I had the pleasure of chatting with Joe, the owner, and he told me about his dream of selling authentic churros here in the States. He decided to turn that dream into a reality last year and was committed to being as hands-on as possible - both figuratively and literally. In September 2019, he traveled to Mexico to become a bonafide churrero. He got a crash course in the town of Zapopan from a street vendor (stationed outside a church) whose family has been in the churro business for 50 years. He apprenticed w/ the churrero and learned how to make churro dough from scratch and other techniques to get the perfect texture. He continues to make the dough from scratch every day. To ensure freshness and quality, he makes the dough in small batches. It hits the fryer after the customer places the order. Joe worked with his eldest child on the different flavors as well as the shop's aesthetic (can it be any more IG-worthy?), and it was nice to hear that kind of family collaboration. He hopes to open multiple locations and to replicate the concept in Chicago. With the glowing reviews the shop has received so far, it's hard not to imagine it being a runaway success in other parts of Chicagoland :) read more

Churro Parlor is located in a small strip mall right next to El Tapatio (you have to enter Churro Parlor in order to get inside El Tapatio). The space is small so it may be easier to purchase your churros and take them to go. Each churro is freshly made so you may have to wait patiently before you get your sweet snack. We've been back so many times we've tried all of the churros except the Mau. Hubby prefers the Aunt Rose (Mexican hot chocolate ganache with oreo cookie crumble) and the Hazel (Nutella with sprinkles) but honestly they are all good in their own ways. I actually prefer the churro wich (gelato within a churro bun) over the normal churros. However, I've only had the Abuela (Mexican hot chocolate gelato with Mexican chocolate glaze). I like the combination of the cold gelato and hot/crunchy churro bun. The gelato is also delicioussss. As for the drinks I've had both the Salma (Mexican hot chocolate) and the Valdes (Mexican hot chocolate with espresso). I think they're both nommy but I couldn't really taste the cinnamon and the texture of the drinks weren't as thick as I expected. There are also different specials of the day! read more

A cute shop right in the entrance to Cafe El Tapitio. The concept is simple, walk up to the window and order yourself a churro or two! Aside from the standard flavor with cinnamon and sugar (the Jane) they have different ones to try as well. We ordered the Mau (dulce de leche and cinnamony toast crumbly) and the Prudence (condensed milk with graham cracker crumbs). They were similar yet different. The Prudence had a subtly flavor of sweetness with the condensed milk and the Mau had a little more sweetness with the dulce de leche topping, though neither were overly sweet as the chewiness and taste of the churro itself definitely took front stage. Crunchy on the outside from the nicely deep fried churro and warm and soft on the inside when you bite in. Nothing like the average churro you can get at those parking lot fairs. These churros are also decently sized as you could definitely share one between two adults and it is perfectly satisfying. Not only are there churros but they also have a drink menu. I ordered the Salma (mexican hot chocolate) because what's a churro without some hot chocolate to go along side it. If it hadn't been later at night I would have wished to try some of the other espresso drinks, those sounded good- like an horchata with espresso, intriguing. Rayan Plaza II: One star. The parking lot is atrocious. There is not enough room for everyone so people park along the curbs and in other "creative" ways. If you make it to the end of the lot without finding a parking spot, you basically have to go back out onto the main road, turn at the traffic light, and try your luck again. We actually got to experience this parking lot insanity once before, when we went to Cafe El Tapatio for dinner. Speaking of Cafe El Tapatio, the Churro Parlor is literally just a food counter inside of the vestibule/waiting area for Cafe El Tapatio. Seating here is sparse - only one stone bench, enough for 2 or 3 skinny people to sit, and 4 stools at a narrow bar along the front window. These seats are shared between guests of the Churro Parlor and those waiting for seating in El Tapatio. In spite of the sparse seating arrangement, odds are you will want to eat your churros here while they are fresh and warm, because in that moment they are AMAZING. Probably the best churros we have had. We all ordered the Jane, which is the more typical sugar and cinnamon variety. I got the chocolate dipping sauce, which added a nice touch, though there are other sauces that tempted our interest as well. My sister and brother-in-law raved about their Mexican hot chocolate several times as they drank it and well after it was gone. It sort of had the flavor of cinnamon Red Hot candy in addition to smooth chocolate. I tried the Parlor coffee drink, which was pretty good, but too subtle in taste next to the flavorful churro. I enjoyed it incrementally more and more after the churro was gone. If you are interested in tasty churros you will want to give this place a try. If you can, avoid coming at 7pm on a Friday or any other high traffic time, otherwise you too will need to be creative about the parking situation unless you are particularly lucky. read more

Yes, I will drive for churros. It was quite a drive, but oh so worth it. Churro Parlor is owned by Cafe El Tapatio. It's located within the entrance of Cafe El Tapatio, and two really sweet gals were behind the pick up window ready to take my order. Veronica and Amanda (sorry can't remember names for sure) got to work and made me a Mexican hot chocolate and two Jane churros with cinnamon, sugar and spice. My kiddo ordered a churro wich--a stuffed churro with gelato and gummy bears. Everything is made fresh to order, so plan to wait about 10 minutes. It's not like the $8 churro stick you find at the auto show at McCormick Place (after this experience we won't do that again). The Mexican hot chocolate was incredible, and not too hot that you couldn't drink it right away. It was sweet, really chocolatey, and loaded with cinnamon flavor. I ordered a small, and that was a perfect size. On to the Jane churros. They have so many different dips you can choose from, but I'm a plain Jane and love a simple sugar and spice. For under $2 each, it was ginormous and delightfully doughy fresh. You want to eat them hot. I literally ate the entire churro in one sitting. I couldn't stop. OMG, why is Glenview so far away? As far as the churro which, I'm not sure how we would have actually eaten it, because we had them modify it. They put the gelato in a cup with gummy bears so my kid could eat that in the car. The plan was to eat the churro buns later. He loved the gelato, but was too full to be able to enjoy the churro buns :-( We tried to heat the churro buns up later, but it was a fail, and we ended up throwing them out. "There's a churro stand in Glenview." is what I heard my friends say. Then I started seeing pictures on Instagram. So of course I went to check it out! The Churro Parlor is connected to the main entrance of Tapatio, a Mexican restaurant. The space being used was the pick up window for to go orders. The two women helping me the night I was there are very friendly and patient. They took the time to explain the menu, and did not seem to mind that it took some time to figure out what we wanted. There is some space to have a seat by the window, I think four stools. The decorations and ambiance were all very thoughtful and cute. They didn't just open up a window, you could tell they were very intentional on how the space was created. And how about the churros! DELICIOUS! We ordered the parlor churros, there's 6 of them, but we ordered 4 - Aunt Rose, Mau, Hazelnut, Jane. There were only 2 of us, so we couldn't handle more. But I will be back for more. The churros are made to order and does take a few minutes. I saw some people coming in after preordering online - smart. I liked Hazelnut and Jane the best. The Aunt Rose and Mau were also good, but for me they were a little rich. The Hazelnut has a perfect amount of Nutella coating and sprinkles. The Jane (I think of it as "Plain Jane"), is the classic churro with the cinnamon dusting. Nothing plain about it! Perfectly sweet and crunchy. All the churros were crunchy and good! You could record an ASMR video. There are also other things on the menu such as drinks and ice cream sandwiches. I plan on coming back to try more of their menu. This is such a cute addition el Tapatio! It has its own little Section right when you walk in through the entrance of Tapatio and is a great option as both an after meal dessert or just a quick dessert run! It also has some seating which was great so that we could eat our churros right there while they were warm. They make them fresh and have lots of different flavors! We had the chocolate one named aunt..something? It was really good! We also had the cream cheese fruity pebble one which was also good but was more cream cheesy than fruity pebbles. Absolutely fabulous. Honestly I can't say I was ever particularly a churro fan but we had an errand to run and my husband likes to get an espresso. Somehow he had known of Churro Parlor and surprised me, I feel about sweets of any sort like he feels about espresso. First of all, the two women behind the counter were wonderful and friendly, we spoke to Fabi for a long time...I didn't get the other's name. The place is adorable; it's primarily a take-out counter but there are a handful of counter seats. There are many varieties of churros to choose from, each with a cute and meaningful name. We chatted with the delightful owner and he told us all about the selected names for the sweets and drinks. An extremely adorable little shop with amazing handmade churros! We ordered Berry White, Prudence, Mau, and Jane. You do have to wait 10-15 minutes because they make it for you right then and there. The shop opens at 4pm and the line begins to get long fast. Berry White was very sweet and I think it would be better for younger kids. Mau was sprinkled with cinnamon and had the perfect amount of sweetness - the crunch was irresistible! Jane was the classic churro. However, my uncontested favorite was Prudence. Believe it or not, they taste even better than they look. And they look pretty awesome. I've never been a big churro fan but these have changed my mind. They were fresh, delicious, and four of us couldn't stop eating them until they were all gone. We tried the Aunt Rose (chocolate and Oreo), Mau (caramel and cinnamon) and, my favorite, Hazel (Nutella and sprinkles). Adorable decor, fantastic and personable staff, and super super fresh and fantastic food. I really wanted to like this place for a number of reasons, chief among them, my love for small businesses and specifically Hispanic/Latin-owned small businesses. Unfortunately, neither the vibe nor the hype matched what I had seen on IG, not did the prices. The person that took the order (after waiting a bit for them to take it) didn't seem too happy to be there. The spot is small (not their fault), but it is a little limiting if you want to chill with a few people after a meal. They are fried fresh, so it will naturally take a bit longer, which was not really an issue. The churro, itself, was relatively small and neither it nor the toppings made it worth the price. I love churros and have gotten super fresh ones from other places (also small businesses) at less than $2 a piece, so this was a little shocking. The churros are awesome! The little Hispanic older lady acts very fake stressed and is rather rude as a result. She told me and my boyfriend to stand next to the garbage can while we waited for our order to make room for a delivery driver (I.e. DoorDash) to pick up his order (he wasn't even a customer!).
