Full disclosure - I've been a fan of Chuy's in Austin for over 18 years. It's nice to see a Chuy's in BCS. This is not gourmet Mexican. Chuy's is experience-dining. Long wait, lots of drinks, loud, crazy and usually fun. Best enjoyed with a big group. The food is a variation of the Tex-Mex theme with their take on sauces. They are one of the few places that really celebrates hatch chili and they serve hatch chili based sauces all year around. Hopefully, this location adds all the hatch chili based items that are available at the Austin location. I can't help but compare the food here to the mothership on Barton Springs road in Austin. It's pretty comparable but some things were off. The beans and rice were not quite right. The rest of our meal - Chuychanga and enchilidas were fine. Again, this is a brand new restaurant and they are still getting all their kinks worked out. You'll either love the place or hate it. You should definitely try it once. Daughter, wife And I walked in on Sunday night at 6:60 pm. No wait, but place has only a few empty tables. We were led to a booth, given menus, no silverware. Grace came by after taking orders from another table. She brought cold chips and pink colored salsa. We ordered an unsweetened tea with lemon, a glass of ice, water with lemon and a coke. We also asked for the creamy jalapeño dip. We got sweet tea that was still hot from being fresh brewed that had five ice cubes in it, with no lemon, three glasses of water with a one line of ice in each and one coke with a handful of ice. No creamy jalapeño dip. No glass of ice. Again requested a glass of ice, a glass of unsweetened tea and creamy jalapeño dip. She took our order, an appetizer plate with jalapeño on side, three additional flour tortillas, one-half Cobb salad and a cup of tortilla soup. I requested the soup to be brought out now. Grace returned with a half of a cup of ice, the unsweetened tea, warm with a line of ice, and the creamy jalapeño dip. After about ten to fifteen minutes Grace returned with a scoop of WARM chips. These were fresh and tasty. I asked for a FULL cup of ice. I pointed to my glass of tea that had less than a third of cup of ice remaining. It was WARM TEA, it was melting my ice. I like ICED TEA. She returned with the full cup of ice. After another five to ten minutes, the food arrived. The soup was on the tray with everything else. The one-half Cobb salad looked great, but NO FLOUR TORTILLAS. The Appetizer plate had the jalepeno's on top of the nachos, they were COVERING the nachos! The bowl soup was hot, but I had wanted to eat it first, before the meal. Grace brought another cup of ice, she laughed saying she could not remember if she had already brought it. It was funny, sort of, I had noticed she was quite busy with at least three tables in our area, maybe four. Besides the challenge of service, the food arrived hot. The tortilla soup was very good. I enjoyed it very much. My wife and I shared the Appetizer plate. I knocked the jalepeno's off one nacho that had three on it. My wife ate that without complaining. She complimented the chicken quesadilla and flautas in particular. After consideration, the tortilla soup was the best part of the meal. My daughter complimented the Cobb salad. The chicken was cut up in smaller pieces, making it seem as if there was chicken in each bite. read more

Just ordered to go food from the College Station Chuys. Was told we couldn't get individual salsa and creamy jalapeño unless we paid separately. Also asked for an extra order of creamy jalapeño (knowing we had to pay for it) and it wasn't included in our order. When we arrived, the to go person swiped the same credit 5 times for our 5 orders, did not give us silverware even though we were charged a to-go fee, and we were not given the extra creamy jalapeño we ordered. Called and talked to the manager Jen who told us that we ordered wrong and silverware isn't included in to go orders unless you ask for it. Very disappointed in the service from the to go person and even more disappointed by the response from the manager. We were told to come back if we wanted the extra creamy jalapeño, but we explained we work in a medical facility and can't drive back, the manager offered no solution. Not exactly the kind of service we expected from a local restaurant. This is an unprecedented time and for so many business going under, it's really unfortunate that the service here today by both the team member and manager was sub-par, and rude for that matter. read more

So I was expecting a lot better then we got. There isn't a lot to pick from on the menu, there needs to be more verity. The atmosphere was good, but it gets really loud when the place is full. Keep in mind that you can wait in the bar area, but you can only order appetizers in the bar unless you are at the bar its self. Did I mention that they need more verity on the menu. If you like okay Mexican food and waiting a long time for a table then this is the place to go. I recently went back and had the southwest enchilada and it was very good. Ehhhh I really wanted to love this Chuy's. I REALLY did, especially since I practically lived at the original Chuy's in Austin on Barton Springs Rd during undergrad at UT. But alas. If you are a fan of Chuy's Tex Mex and going through withdrawal, this location will subside your Chuy's cravings. Their enchiladas are good (especially the Boom-Boom enchiladas), the salsa is addicting, and it's hard to not eat a basket of chips by yourself. But this Chuy's was one of the slowest restaurants I've ever been to. It easily took 15 minutes to get our drink order (3 people asking for soda/water) and our server just appeared to be in outer space the majority of the time. What should have been maybe 45 minutes out ended up being twice that length because of the service time. Not cool, College Station Chuy's. Not cool. read more

This is pretty standard tex-mex. I had the Chuy's Choice for Wednesday, which is the Macho Burrito. I don't know how to describe how I feel about it other than "okay". Seriously, some of my friends love this place, but I don't get it. There are better places to go in CS. What's cool though is that you get all the chips and salsa and queso you want for free, which is great. My table waited on our last person for 30+ minutes so we just ate chips for a looong time. Waiter was cool with it too which was a plus, but I felt bad though. Keep in mind this place can get pretty busy and you may have to wait. read more

Chuy's is one of the very few chain restaurants I really like. I eat at the Round Rock location about once a month. It's one of my favorite restaurants--mainly because, despite calling itself "Tex-Mex," there's a substantial New Mexico influence in the menu. I've also eaten at a couple of the other Austin-area locations and been pretty pleased. I visited the College Station location during this year's Green Chile Festival, which usually brings much fresher, hotter chiles than the restaurant has just a few weeks earlier in the year. But everything my wife, my mom, and I ordered was kind of...bland. Milder than what the Round Rock restaurant serves year-round, and under-seasoned, to boot. Several components of our meal were over-cooked, too (dry chicken, mushy rice). Hopefully this location will improve with age and experience, but for now, it's a sub-par execution of the Chuy's concept. The Texans- and Aggies-themed t-shirts at this location are a nice touch, though. My wife had to have an "Eat the Hell Outta Tex-Mex" shirt as soon as she saw it. read more

Just had dinner here and had the pleasure of being waited on by Sarah S. She was super friendly and took such good care of us. Chips, salsa, creamy jalapeño dip and drinks almost immediately. Not a minute after I closed my menu she was right there ready to take our order. She was very attentive and made sure we had refills and everything we needed. It was refreshing to go out to eat and have a server who is genuinely nice and good at their job. It is hard to find that in our "college" town where service is usually lacking. I love chuys. It's a great place to go during happy hour for a free nacho bar (filled with queso, pico, salsa, meat, and beans) and great margarita specials. sometimes the line is ridiculously long. Other than that, the food is great and the servers are always so nice and do whatever they can to help you get the best experience you can. Their queso is some of my favorite and if you haven't tried their creamy jalapeño (which is free you just have to ask) then you're missing out. It is very disheartening to know that this establishment and its employees display acts of racism. Being the only minorities there patiently waiting for our table for over 45 minutes did not bother us; keep in mind we were quoted 35-45 minutes. When we checked with the hostess to see how much longer the wait was, we were informed it would be at least another hour since we have been bumped down on the wait list. It is unacceptable to continue to sit parties who showed up the same time as us or after us, then inform us our wait time has basically doubled. The hostesses explanation was rather unapologetic and she offered no resolution besides having us speak to a manager. Recently visited this CSTAT location, since we moved here last weekend. We're regulars to the chain, and especially since the brought back the carnitas enchiladas w/ Boom-Boom sauce! 10/10 for this menu item! But our issues weren't due to food quality, atmosphere, etc. it was our server. Since it's a Monday, we ordered water. The waitress was obviously pissed we ordered water, and not anything else for a beverage. When she brought the waters, she said,"here." Slammed the glasses down and left. She came back a few minutes later and asked if we were ready to order. We said yes, and then asked if we could also have creamy jalapeño, and she said, after a a long breath,"yes." ( imagine a pissed off teenager). She brought us that, and never refilled the chips. She also never offered us straws. When our food came out, she finally gave us straws, but we had to ask for additional condiments. She never refilled our water, which 1 glass was down to ice throughout the meal. And brought us the check, while we looked online for desserts. We looked at her and said, "oh, we were wanting to order dessert." We only ordered 1 dessert to share, the churros which were a 10/10! But they were scalding hot and we were never offered plates or flatware to eat it. Our family is in the restaurant business and expect great customer service when we eat out, if Yulisa is your server, ask for another. I've already raised 2 college kids, I don't want to have to raise someone else's by giving a lesson on manners when I eat out! read more
