Ive been to this location of chuys for years And usually have had a good experience. Sadly, that was not the case today. We were told the wait would be 25-35 minutes whenever we arrived at 5:45 with plenty of time for happy hour til 7. We had 5 adults and a 10 month old (needed a high chair). We checked on our status multiple times. We were told that our table was next for a large party. We saw a table of 6 go in front of us and that's when we realized that despite us standing there with baby in arms that they forgot about our table. We had to ask for hot water so that we could feed our baby since the wait had been so long and we needed it to heat up his milk. We received our table after 1 hour of waiting since we approached again asking and that's whenever they realized that they had forgotten our table since we were so far back on the list.... on an entirely different sheet. By the time we got our table, happy hour was over... It seemed like an appropriate moment for a manager to come and compensate for their disorganization as I know that they desire to satisfy their customers and sadly this time was rather a disappointment. read more

Probably one of my favorite places in cstat ! I came with 8 people last time & they told me we had to wait for an hour and a half- it ended up only being 30 mins which was fantastic. The point being, we were all willing to wait because we thought their food was worth the wait ! The waitress was very friendly and she got our orders perfectly right ! Have been going to this chuys for over 5 years and it's always a great decision. The best time to go is Monday-Thursday during their happy hour(4?-7) they have free chips/salsa/queso/beef/beans to eat with your half priced margarita(preferably on the rocks w/salt). I will say that we've tried the To-Go option 3-4 times and all but once something was either messed up or missing. They were always quick to fix but more than once is a trend. That's why the 4 stars instead of 5. Then they got two things wrong with my wife's dish - she clearly ordered refried beans and a cheese enchilada, and they brought her whole beans and a beef enchilada. Then we had to ask twice for silverware - just waiting so we could start eating. Made a yelp account just to leave this review, it was that messed up. Came here for my husbands birthday dinner. Ordered mojitos and they just tasted like plain sprite. Husband ordered the flautas and they were just flavorless mush inside soggy tortillas. My husband has NEVER complained about his food to a waiter in our 7 years of being together. Waitress hardly even stopped to ask us if everything was okay, and when we finally got the chance to let her know the food was gross, she just offered us 10% off, despite only 3 bites taken from my husbands plate. Jalapeño ranch sauce is the best!!! I love Chuy`s. I will agree with some of the previous posts, this establishment is LOUD. I would not recommend this if your goal is to have a nice quiet dinner. I love Chuys. This place is great to go during happy hour- they have half priced margs, free chips and queso with beef! You'll end up not spending much while enjoying your evening. I'm also a fan of their rellenos; they are delicious especially is you get beef or cheese. Their fajitas are also quite decent. DO NOT BUY THEIR MARGS TO GO. I payed 30 dollars for this and it's supposed to be 6 margaritas. The recipe calls for 1/4 cup tequila and 1/2 cup of marg mix. We called ahead at 5pm giving a 2 hour notice. They said that they will be able to seat us when we got here at 7pm. We arrived 2 mins early just to be told it will be an hour wait. As soon as we walked through the door there was over 40 sorority sisters standing there. We had to push through the sisters just to say we were here. Since their party was so big, they should have been told to stand outside until their table is ready. I had dinner on Saturday night with my daughter & her boyfriend. I've been craving good Mexican food for quite a while. It was crazy busy, but we were seated within 10 minutes. Our server was amazing! He was very polite & personable even though he was busy! We ordered & went through several baskets of chips. Our drinks were always full & so were the chips & salsa. My friends from Texas swear by Chuy's as their favorite Tex Mex place, but I wasn't tooooo convinced. The atmosphere is a bit overwhelming--lots of bright colors, car parts, things hanging from the ceiling. The menu didn't have as much variety as I would like, everything seemed fried or smothered in sauce. I ordered the green velvet enchiladas, which was a special for the day I was there. It was really heavy and sweet, which isn't what I particularly enjoy from Mexican food. I heard great things about the queso--but again, was disappointingly sweet. In addition, the prices weren't great. But, there were some redeeming factors about this restaurant. For one, the service was friendly and helpful. Also, the chips and jalapeno-ranch dip was actually so, so good. If I were to come back to this location, I would skip the queso--share a meal--and fill up on chips and jalapeno-ranch dip. read more

It's okay. The prices are decent and the food is really good although, to me, the selections are more like an all-or-nothing deal: it's either great or horrid. Their ground beef tastes bland, overcooked, and a bit greasy to me, but have never had dry chicken even though it's bland to me as well. Their red salsa is meh, but (as anyone with a heartbeat can attest to) the jalapeno guac whatever creamy ranch sauce is fantastic. I have a couple of problems with this place, though. Besides the fact that I've been to several Chuy's locations before, this one just seems a little...disorganized? It's always packed with a wait and I'm still not sure why, first. Secondly, there's nowhere for people to wait. They know they're always packed, yet they still haven't fixed that as an issue. On Ring Days / graduation / game days, you might as well drive right by, although I guess that can be said of anywhere in CStat on those days. But Chuy's is the worst, from what I've noticed. The other problem is that it's obscenely loud. Even if you happen to get lucky and pick a time to dine where the place is mostly empty, it's like they WANT you to have to yell over the music. I don't get it. At all. I've never been there when I haven't had to ask several times for silverware and had inaccuracies with my order. I have salty Mexican food on my plate but you're going to let my tea or water glass go empty? Or how about my personal favorite: The Dropping the Ticket on Your Table When Your Plate is Still Half Full and Y'all Are All Still Eating with the Passive-Aggressive "No Hurry...Take Your Time." They'll keep an eye on the table to see if you're done yet, but good luck getting that glass refilled again, as if it weren't bad enough before. There is nothing like Chuys happy hour- free nacho bar with jalapeño ranch is one of the best deals in town. The service is usually slow, but probably because it is consistently busy. Their margaritas and Texas-Tinis are all very good and a good size. They have a special dish every day, which is always really good. You can also replace your rice and beans for mac and cheese if you aren't into those sides. read more

I have been going to Chuys for 25+ years and have never had a bad experience...until today. We live almost an hour away from any Chuy's so it's an excursion. We arrived at 5pm and were told it would be a 30 minute wait or we could eat outside. When walking to the outdoor seating I saw tons of open seating and said something to the hostess. You could tell it wasn't just the 50% of tables that couldn't be available because of Covid. She informed us it was people who came and signed up but weren't there yet. So I asked "you can make reservations" knowing they don't take reservations. I was told they don't take reservations. So basically they were holding tables for people that weren't there and as out of towners we were unable to sign sign up and leave. This system is frustrating to say the least. Outside was horrible!! The fly and birds are out of control. We definitely won't be going out of our way again for Chuy's. read more
