Chuy's is not a franchise I'm expecting to be the pinnacle of cuisine, so with this in mind, I will say this Chuy's was good compared to other Chuy's. I like the sort of jalapeño ranch that comes along with the chips. It's nice to have something different than the green salsa at other places that is really good. The red salsa was really good as well, it needed a little bit of salt but nonetheless was delicious. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and it was good, nothing crazy or "trying to be different" just an average soup which satiated my desire for it. The gentleman serving us did a good job at not being overbearing but kept up with our needs. I will say something that surprised me was how low the ceiling was in the area where we sat. I went here last night at 10 and ordered the Chili Con Carne Burrito Meal for my entree. This particular dish is usually a solid one and it was executed very well last night. I am usually a chicken enchilada guy when it comes to Mexican and Tex Mex, but I feel their burritos are better here imo. Very delicious, meaty, saucy, not overly cheesy and the burrito wrap itself was flavorful, tender and fresh. The refried beans in it were good and had a bit of a creamy feel with some earthiness. I have always enjoyed eating at Chuy's, but tonight was not great! The reason for the two stars is the quality of the food! Quesadillas were so greasy when picked up and the outside of the tortilla tasted super salty. Honestly, I didn't want to eat much after the first wedge. I always enjoy their creamy jalepeno sauce- and enjoy their crispy tacos and chicken quesadillas. Never fails to satisfy my tex-mex craving. Other days I'll pick up just their pico and creamy jalepeno sauce to enjoy with my own homemade tacos because it has the right amount of creamy and spicy goodness! Great for groups big and small! If you are vegetarian, DO NOT order the queso!!! On the menu it reads "Blend of melted cheese, Green Chile & Ranchero Sauces. Add seasoned ground beef, gua­camole & pico de gallo", so I assumed that it is vegetarian because you can just add meat if you want it. I thought it was a little strange that it didn't have the "V" symbol next to it like the other vegetarian options on the menu, but I proceeded to try to order it anyways. Thankfully I had already told the server that I am vegetarian, so he alerted me that the queso is, in fact, NOT vegetarian. Not sure why as he didn't explain it, but just warned me that it wasn't vegetarian friendly. This blew my mind because this is the ONLY Mexican restaurant I have been to where the regular queso is not vegetarian friendly. It actually really upset me because I love queso and there are already so few vegetarian options on the menu to begin with. What's more, the quesadillas that I ordered barely had any cheese in them. Disappointing. This is what prompted me to order a side of queso to make my quesadillas more cheesy, but alas, I wasn't able to do so. So my rating is based on the sole fact that they do not have queso that vegetarians can safely eat. The most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Then they skimped out on the cheese in the quesadilla. Swung by for dinner recently with a group of people who absolutely LOVE chuys. I had not been back for three years but decided it was worth trying the beloved Tex Mex restaurant again. We got a round of vegetarian chimichangas with boom boom sauce. The food was quite good and fresh. I requested to add some bell peppers but I believe out server may have been slightly new bc I was sent Serranos instead. It was a bit spicy, but fine! Came here since my friends recommended this as an authentic Tex-Mex and it was packed to the brim on a Friday night. Super family friendly. Got the world famous enchilada (boom chicka) and it was huge portion size w a delicious creamy sauce. We also got a steak burrito which also was very enchilada-esque vs a classic burrito; however, I much preferred the steak burrito over the enchilada. Table ordered a virgin pina colada that just came in a regular glass and looked a little sad. Guacamole could use slightly more seasoning as well Overall well run and streamlined. If I rated on food alone, I would probably give this 3.5 stars; however, our server Josh made all the difference, so I had to bump up my experience to 4 stars. My friend and I came here because she lives in Houston and says that this is an authentic Tex Mex experience. The jalapeño cilantro dip was excellent; flavorful, fresh, and refreshing! The salsa was also great. We also ordered a small side of queso, which was plentiful and delicious! Their chips were also really tasty, light and crunchy! I wanted to pack up the leftover chips, and Josh took it to the next level by giving me a bag full with brand new salsa and jalapeño cilantro dip. For my main entree, I had the Tex-Mex enchilada, which Josh informed us they have an option with just one enchilada. This was the perfect size for my appetite. I have to say the enchilada was only ok; I've definitely had better. With Josh's recommendation, I also got a virgin pina colada. It was delicious! I've been going to this Chuy's since I was a kid and considered it a fun part of my life. Tonight, my car got broken into in their parking lot directly in view of three of their cameras. I went inside to ask for the camera footage and was told none of their cameras actually work. What is the point of having cameras? I asked one of the nearby restaurants and they informed me that this is a common occurrence at Chuy's. I'm honestly not the biggest fan of Tex Mex, when I was in San Antonio I would only try tacos. They give you complimentary chips with salsa and a dip that tastes like ranch. I could snack on chips and salsa all day, they're pretty addicting. For some reason I thought their menu would be huge but it was actually pretty short and simple. I ordered the steak burrito, which was topped in green hatch chile sauce. The steak was perfectly tender and had a somewhat smoky flavor to it. The sauce added a little spice as well. I didn't know what I was expecting but I ended up liking this dish. It also comes with a side of refried beans, rice, and some veggies. The portion is pretty big for the price you're paying for. First of all, make sure to get the creamy jalapeño dipping sauce. That is non negotiable. It's the best of both worlds, combining a ranch-like dressing with a little kick from chopped jalapeños. It is not only great with the complimentary chips, but also on top of any item on the menu. We also grabbed a queso which, while I was skeptical at first, I quickly changed my mind as the warm and spicy cheese complemented the cold weather perfectly. I went with their mixed fajitas which includes beef and chicken. You will be hard pressed to find juicier, tender fajitas anywhere else. The chicken was so soft and still moist, and the beef was cooked to a medium well consistency. There are also a lot of peppers and onions that are sautéed well. The fajitas come with super soft and freshly made flour tortillas, rice and beans, and taco toppings like cheese, guacamole, lettuce, and tomato.
