2/10/2026: I'm just not a fan. I have tried over the years, but I've never been impressed with anything outside of their jalapeno ranch and salsa fresca. Knowing that I'm not a fan, one may ask, "why do you continue to go?". This most recent time was a birthday lunch with my coworkers. It wasn't my birthday, so I didn't get a vote. I had the chicken flautas. They were okay and the portion size is very generous, but the food always tastes like something I can get from the grocery store freezer section. Our server was really good. She was on top of our drink orders and special requests like a pro. A bad server can make you never return to a restaurant, but a good one won't make you come back without great food. If I was rating on service alone, I would give Chuy's 5 stars. The restaurant was semi-loud but I think it was mainly because the music was loud. However, my coworkers and I liked the songs selections. Early 90's sing-along songs. That was fun. Service was great, we got sat right away. It was a Friday during lunch hour. Plenty of parking, it was my first time bringing my parents and they loved the food. They can't wait to go back, our waitress was so nice. She was very helpful, my dad did not know what to order as they have so many items to choose from, the waitress helped him arrow it down. We went to Chuy's a few days ago because I saw a TikTok showing someone making their copycat Creamy Jalapeño Ranch Dip (CJRD). I didn't have the ingredients to make it myself, and I hadn't been to Chuy's in a few years because the last time I went, the chili relleno wasn't on the menu anymore. I didn't think I really liked anything else on the menu, except their soup--and it was a little too hot outside for soup. When we arrived, the hostess was very nice, and we were seated right away. After we got to our table, it took a little while before someone came to ask what we wanted to drink. Since it took our server a few minutes, we had enough time to decide on an appetizer. Shortly after taking our drink order, our server returned with our drinks and the reason I was there--the famous CJRD. They also give you red salsa. I don't usually like red salsa at most places, but I do like Chuy's. Don't get me wrong, I don't like it as much as the CJRD, but their red salsa tasted like it was freshly made to order. The chips were also really good--light and crispy, just like tortilla chips should be. And trust me, the CJRD hit on so many levels. It was just as good as I remembered. Don't worry, I didn't pick up the bowl and start drinking it--but the thought did cross my mind. You'll never guess what happened next. While I was reading the menu, I saw it. There it was... the chili relleno. It was back!!! So of course, I had to order it. I had never tried their chicken enchiladas--even though I'd heard good things about them. They just so happened to have a combo that included both items, so I ordered that. I'm a weirdo and usually save my favorite thing to eat for last, so when my ("be careful, the plate is hot") plate arrived, I started with the chicken enchilada. Let's get real: the rice and beans were just bystanders in this meal, so we don't really have to talk about them. Back to the enchilada. I'm not usually a fan of chicken enchiladas, so I wasn't expecting much. But after my first bite, I was like... WHAT!?!?! I thought to myself... is this real life? After my second bite, I thought, There's no way this is happening. I was actually eating a chicken enchilada and enjoying it--a lot. It had great flavor and just the right amount of spice. After that great experience with the chicken enchilada, I moved on to the chili relleno. Unfortunately, it was the biggest letdown of my meal. I used to LOVE their chili rellenos. They're prepared differently than traditional ones--still fried, but with a different, harder crust and totally different batter. When I cut into it, a lot of liquid ran out, and I thought, That doesn't look right. It was hard to scoop up a bite because it was so watery. When I finally tasted it, the very first thought that ran through my head was, "SPIT IT OUT!!!" And that's exactly what I did. It tasted rancid. It was awful--such a letdown. I informed our server, and she got the manager, who quickly offered a replacement and was very apologetic. They remade my whole plate and were so accommodating and nice about the whole thing. When the new plate arrived, the chili relleno was much better. But I have to admit--my new favorite is now the chicken enchiladas. I'll definitely go back for those. I mean, let me wrap up this review and head back up there. LOL. All in all, even though my first chili relleno was rancid, the overall experience wasn't bad. The server and manager were quick to make it right, and I really, really enjoyed everything else enough to counteract that one bad moment. I'm not going to let that keep me from going back. And I'm definitely not waiting years to return this time. I may even put them in our regular rotation for when we're craving Tex-Mex. read more

Typically just order take out from here, but we were running errands and decided to just dine in. First time at the location, first impression, the hostess seemed annoyed. We said 2 in the party and she walked off to look for a table, however we just wanted to sit outside on the patio. When she came back to lead us into the dining room, we asked about outside, she slammed the silverware onto the host(ess) stand and said fine. My partner even commented and said way to piss her off. The rest of the experience however was great! David was our server on the patio and truly gave 5 star service. He gave recommendations, made small talk that felt natural, made little jokes here and there and stayed attentive but not overbearing. We used to go to the Westchase location that sadly closed down, we also have been going to the River Oaks location for decades but last Friday we tried the I10 West location for the first time and the service was incredible, especially from the hoatess(she took over whenever our waiter disappeared?). We liked this location and the food there so much that we decided to go back today(3 days later) and once again the hostess I noticed went beyond what a hostess does so I hope that she is recognized for her hospitality! All the Chuy's I had been to in Houston, the interior is always beautifully decorated. The menu is simple but offers great selection. For today's visit, the service was great. My server was nowhere to be seen except for bill time. My party ordered the tacos and enchiladas. Our food was served room temperature, not even warm. It's crazy they charge you for more salsa when you order for pick up but if you eat in the restaurant it's free. You get one little 4 oz serving for your family regardless of how many entree you order. I'm going to Lupe next time. There's too many good Mexican restaurants to pay $12 more for salsa. Ordered here via delivery. Got the Combo Fajitas and Taco Salad. You get an order of chips with your order which is always a plus. You get their Creamy Jalepeno dip. It's basically like what the rolls are to Texas Roadhouse. You just have to have it. Combo Fajitas weren't bad, but they were missing one thing: tortillas. How do you forget such a critical component of an order like this? Taco Salad was okay. It basically a salad with Tortilla strips. If you're expecting in one of those shells, guess again. First time at Chuy's since December. The one closest to me on Westheimer/Fondren closed and I was so depressed. Made the trek here and while service wasn't that great at first, the food was the same good Chuy's. The hostess was very absentee and we were in a long line just waiting for her to come back to the stand. Slowly we began inching forward. While this plaza is packed and parking lot is spaced out terribly, this Chuy's was busy but not a full house. There were empty tables all over so we sat down easily (just took a while for us to get there...). Glen was our server and he said he was new and to bear with him, but he was great! Didn't get anything wrong with the orders and was super nice and attentive. I got my usual deluxe chicken enchiladas and the seasonal frozen blackberry margarita. My kids decided to go out to dinner and they are very versed in restaurant etiquette, as well as tipping, yet the staff treated them as an afterthought. I always order the Comida Deluxe which comes with a queso tostada, beef taco, cheese enchiladas 2 flautas and it rarely disappoints. I usually order it slathered with their Hatch Green Chile Sauce. Being from New Mexico this is the closest to New Mexican cuisine as it comes. The highlight of the meal are the cheese enchiladas made with real Monterrey Jack cheese. This is my absolute favorite comfort food and is very crave able, it reminds me of good old fashioned New Mexican cuisine. I love chuy's because their for always feels fresh to me and the jalapeño ranch is something I haven't really found anywhere else. So bonus points for that. I always get the steak burrito with queso, I like it with my beans and rice inside but if you order via doordash they don't let you make any requests or changes like that, which sucks! I appreciate that every to go order comes with chips and salsa and jalapeño ranch, but I wish the to go containers were better to heat up your food. Anyway, this place is def worth going! Really wanted to love my meal here after hearing my friend's praise of their enchiladas! My main problem this time was with the service. Service: I'll talk about this first. My own server was great (tall older man with gray hair) and promptly brought out the food and chips and was overall great and helpful. However there was some time ~10-20 mins we couldn't find him, so I asked a nearby server (shorter older man with gray hair) if we could get some more salsa. I was so surprised when the server replied snarkily "I'm not your server" turned, and walked away! And never came back to our table. It was not that busy anyways, around 3 pm so I was shocked. Chips and salsa kinda different had a cool flavor to it. Not traditional chips and salsa. The "salsa" is moderate spice if you don't like spicy don't eat it. Plates came to the table hot which is a good sign in a restaurant . I ordered the "big as yo face burrito" and it was really big and very delicious. Super fresh! I recommend the steak it's seasoned well. I got the sauce on the side and I love that you can pick whatever sauce you like. My daughter got the kids plate and it's cool it comes with a free desert! Another great to go fajita dinner from the Chuy's on I-10 near Bunker Hill... Even though it seems there has been a lot of turnover in their staff. Since the last time I had been there, the service is top notch, something rare to be found in the dining industry today. I would even keep coming back if the service wasn't very good, because I am definitely addicted to the hatch green chili salsa, I have tried to duplicate it, but haven't gotten even close yet. I checked the bag before leaving and noting that I thought a serving of rice was missing as we did not get beans just 2 orders of rice. Within a few minutes, somebody comes out with a container of rice, apologizing... I thought it was so quick, it was probably just sitting on the table...
