We used the catering service for a birthday party. I live in San Antonio and arranged everything over the phone with the manager named Chris. We ordered the nacho bar for 25 for a specific time, but had to change it on the day of pickup. Chris was helpful and accommodating to make it work. Prior to pick up, I was sent a link where I could pay for the items in advance, and did so. Upon arrival, I drove up and they brought all of the items to the car within a minute. Poor customer service at the To-Go/ Pick up section. I had placed a big catering order for pick up, i checked and follow the orders they had and never got a response. I had to get out of my car to get my order and nobody offered to help me put everything in my car, instead they said " that's your order and that's the cart ". I am a big fan of Tex-Mex restaurants, and Chuy's is definitely one of my favorites! The food here is always very flavorful and tasty. As soon as you sit down, you are welcomed with fresh tortilla chips with two different salsas. The creamy jalapeno salsa here is absolutely amazing! I usually go for the fajitas or shrimp tacos when i go to Chuy's. The meats are always well seasoned and juicy. The shrimp tacos in particular are very well made and a perfect combination of flavors. The refried beans are also very creamy and tasty. Chuy's always provides great food and service. It is the ideal place for Tex-Mex in Houston! read more

Our server was very polite and did a fantastic job at catering to our needs on a very busy night. I believe his name was Eleazar and despite the rush, we weren't forgotten. We had margaritas (margarita day) and unfortunately the "blood orange" ran out by the time we got a table but the "blackberry" made up for it. It was very delicious but not too strong (sadly). The food wasn't too bad, your typical tex-mex dishes. The facility is actually very large (I had always thought it was a small area) and the parking is horrifying. The whole parking plaza specifies not to park here if you're going to Chuy's...thought that was pretty funny, but yes, good luck finding a parking spot! read more

Came here to celebrate the end of a stressful semester with friends. We got a table on the patio and our server was attentive, a little too attentive for our taste. He bothered us with his jokes and it became an annoyance after awhile. STRAWBERRY MOJITO- bacardi dragon berry rum and fresh strawberries I really liked this drink because it wasn't too strong and it had a refreshing fruity sweetness. CHICKEN FLAUTAS- homemade corn tortillas filled with roasted chicken, rolled, fried and drizzled with smoky, red chipotle sauce, served with mexican rice and refried charro beans The flautas were crispy and really dry, the chicken didn't have much flavor, and the best thing about this dish was the refried beans. The beans were really flavorful and creamy. It had a meaty flavor and was nicely seasoned. This place is pretty casual and I might come back if I'm in a group of people, but I would never choose to come here myself. There are plenty of tex-mex places around town. read more

I had lunch with a few of my coworkers that frequent this place every Wednesday. Because they are regulars, their waiter knows their orders by heart. I must say "Raynard" provided excellent service. However, I was enthralled with the great conversations we were having that I forgot to take a picture of my entree. Darn it!!! I ordered the Wednesday special. This was a half order of chicken enchiladas. The enchilada included roasted hand pulled chicken, cheese with boom boom sauce, roasted green chiles, tomatoes, green onions, cilantro and lime juice. Yes, the enchilada was superb. I also replaced the rice and beans with a side salad. I was trying to be as healthy as possible or maybe just not as sluggish after this type of meal. As a courtesy, Raynard brought us some sopapilla!!!! OMG, this was so.......... good. This is a fried pastry/dough that was topped with honey. It was light, fluffy and just plain delicious. This place was a very crowded for a Wednesday and it was stuffy feeling not very comfortable environment. Thankful for being with enjoyable group of coworkers because nothing else was good about this place. I think the 3 stars is for price, their prices are decent and portions are large. The flavor for Drinks and Food well thank goodness that I came here to celebrate with a consultant before she leaves our group because if it were for food & drinks this review would not be so great and the stars would be less heck they probably should be less because when you eat at Taco Cabana or Pappasitos often this place only has nice decor in comparison but didn't visit for the decor so I'm sure I won't be going back anytime soon and by the off chance there is another invite extended and it's at this place, I'll just try the complimentary chips and a water. Oh almost forgot to mention: the utensils,yep that's the word we should use for them because silverware..hmm, I'm not so sure they qualify for silver maybe more gray. they come in a sealed packet which indicates on one side These have been sanitized and on the other side a Blessing of the food in 3 versions Protestant, Catholic, Jewish... Umm hello WHY??!! So yeah I asked for to go utensils because not only did mine feel rough when I took them out of the protective package they looked awful and if you need to advertise that your utensils are sanitized in addition to prayers on the package I'm concerned (wait what about Christians, Non Believers or how about Baptist, Muslim ok I'll quit you get the point) Anyway you choose but I won't be back anytime soon. Chuy's is one of my favorite places for Tex-Mex locally. I've been many times. I wanted to patronize Chuy's during the city shutdown. I ordered combination fajitas and chips with salsa. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Food tasted like it had been under a heat lamp all day. Steak was tough, inedible. Chicken was flavorless. Chips were hard. With all the businesses suffering right now, you'd think they'd work hard to knock it out of the park. But $25 later, this was easily the worst meal I've ever had at Chuy's. read more

Went to Chuy's on a Saturday and it was not that busy. We ordered our drinks, margaritas and believe me we had to ask if there was any alcohol in it. Was not impressed by the drinks. We then order appetizers and they were terrible dried like it was reheated, queso was so watery it was tasteless. Then came our food, oh my god my enchiladas were horrible dry dry. The rice was reheated and over all our food was terrible, we have been here before and it wasn't this bad but not great either just thought I would give it another try. I have been in love with Southwest Enchiladas for decades. With the pandemic Chuy's has cut back on the menu. Like many things in this world, Chuy's has dropped its eclectic menu for a menue for the masses, not the individuals. It's sad. Turns out that they will be only offering the mundane menu items for the rest of the year and then reevaluate I suppose based on who's buying the most. That's why I steer away from chains. Already not one of my preferred places to dine. The food is subpar and over-priced. I only go, because my SO likes it. First time, no chips and salsa. 2nd time, I placed an order for curbside pickup, followed the instructions, texted, and nobody showed. Though the sign mentions remaining in your car for safety, I had to relinquish that to walk-in to retrieve my order. I have gone to this location for years and this time sealed my opinion. The service was the WORST ever tonight, manager really didn't have the urgency to fix a problem that is needed in this business. Only ordered nachos and fajitas and everyone around us got their food before us. I had to stop the manager, and asked if I needed to go make my own meal. Waiter acted like he had a full section, but he just couldn't get it together. We will mark this one off of the list to return to. Went for lunch with a group of friends from work. No wait for our table of 12! Wonderful service attentive to our needs. Frozen margaritas were delicious and since I couldn't decide which one the waitress brought samples of 2. Watermelon was amazing!!! Few vegetarian options but the quesadillas were all I needed they were so plentiful I took half the order home for dinner! Great sauces and the chips are fresh and warm. I can't believe I haven't written a review before now. Alas, here we are and I'm ready to share with you how much I love Chuy's. The things that I find set it apart from the plethora of Mexican options in Houston are the ranch-esque dip served alongside the salsa and the hot, fresh, thin tortilla chips. I could eat my weight in the tortilla chips. The other thing that makes Chuy's stand out is their tortillas. These are not the run-of-the-mill store bought ones. These are homemade and fresh; a little thicker than what I think we are accustomed to find here (at least I think), but I've also only been south of the border a couple times so I haven't had ample opportunity to eat authentic Mexican cuisine. Moving on--the flavors are also right on point and the service has always been good. I'm sad to see some of the negative reviews because I haven't had those experiences, and I hope everyone can have as good of an experience/meal as I have had. 'Til next time, Chuy's. read more

I got the Elvis Pressley Fried Chicken with the Lay's chips breading - bomb - instant food coma. My brother got some deluxe chicken enchiladas with a la carte taco. White / green sauce always goes down. Major shout out to our server Simra. Velvet white glove service. Our food service was impeccable, drinks topped off regularly. Always a good time at Chuys. It can get pretty busy during my peak hours so there can be a wait and parking can be an issue sometimes (self parking). Nice covered patio and lots of indoor seating. If you love enchiladas highly recommend the Chika Chika Boom Boom, my absolutely favorite. A little spicy but really good. All portions are a good size, so you get full. Price is average. Not my favorite margaritas but average. The green salsa that comes along with your chips is delicious. Nice place to come and relax. Nothing fancy here but that's the point. Waiters are always friendly and food comes out at a reasonable time. read more

I came here with my fiancee on Friday night. First, parking was a pain (quite a large parking lot, but the restaurant was very busy so it took us a long time to find a spot), which was contrary to what Google told us - thanks Google. We were seated immediately, which was nice, since the restaurant WAS quite busy, and were served some chips with salsa / jalapeno ranch dip. The salsa wasn't great (the consistency was a little weird) and the jalapeno ranch dip was fine but not stellar. The restaurant doesn't have any beers on tap, so I ordered a bottle of Shiner - not a huge deal, really, but it's always nice when restaurants have stuff on tap. I ordered one of the combinations, and my fiancee ordered a different combination. The food came quite quickly, which was great, but it was PIPING hot, so we had to wait a while to eat. Everything tasted pretty bland and greasy, and it just wasn't that good. There are loads of better Tex-Mex restaurants in Houston, so I would definitely recommend going elsewhere. read more

Chuy's may be an institution in Austin, but in Houston? We have better options. However, if you're craving their "secret recipe" creamy green salsa, fruity drinks or a chipper server, it's perfect. You can't really go wrong with the fajitas, flautas and mediocre fish tacos; giant burritos are gluttony (and guilt) in a tortilla, and their mini tacos hit the hangover spot. By the way, they have 16 different sauces! If you have kids in tow, Chuy's is a lot more kid-friendly than most Tex-Mex chains in town. The atmosphere is kitchy, colorful and pretty much anything goes. As for service, something about their interview process weeds out all the Debbie Downers. They're all pretty much thrilled to be there. And why wouldn't you? All the free queso you can get? (I imagine.) The only thing that bothers me about Chuy's is their silverware. It all comes in paper wrapping that reads: These utensils have been sanitized ... or something close to that. I prefer they save trees and just have servers tell patrons that. There's no shortage of good Tex-Mex restaurants in Houston. During my occasional visits to Houston, all the signs and friend recommendations can be overwhelming. Sometimes I'll just say to myself to "pick one". I like this Chuy's because it's one of my colleague's favourites and because there's Green Chile/New Mexico pedigree to some of their dishes. Or as I'm fond of saying: It's not the real thing, unless they ask "Red or Green" when I order. I most recently sat at the bar and made myself comfortable with a basket from their fully loaded Nacho Car. I was also told that it was "National Margarita Day", and on Ash Wednesday no less. I ordered mine on the rocks with salt, and it was just the right balance of sweet and alcohol kick. In hindsight, I should have probably sat at one of the linoleum-accented tables, as the walk up bar orders were kind of distracting. On the other hand, the place was busy, folks were happy, people watching was interesting, service was friendly and fast, and after a long day I didn't want to be anywhere else. I ordered and enjoyed the Green Chile Taquitos and of course there was too much food. I also surprised myself by not ordering my usual Chicken Quesadilla. Actually, the Menu is fairly creative and there's really no excuse not to get at least a little "adventurous". read more

I love Chuy's for some good Tex-Mex! Everything from the adult beverages, to the chips and salsa, every meal I've ever had and their sopapillas. I am a big fan of their Mexican Martinis. Just spicy enough, and strong enough to where I only need one. :) I love their burritos, and even their enchiladas when made with fajita meat. And how can anyone resist the Boom Boom sauce?!?! I used to be a bigger fan of Chuy's when I didn't care as much about what I ate. Now, it is a struggle to find anything remotely healthy on the menu other than the tortilla soup and their Mexican Cobb salad which comes laden with gobs of purple cabbage. I will admit, however, that their chips are great and taste like the thin outside crust of a really good deepfried corn dog. And, their creamy jalapeno dressing/sauce is superb. Other than the lack of dishes containing 1,000 calories or less, here are some other pet peeves about Chuy's: 1. Wait Time- Don't even begin to think you will get a table any time soon during peak times such as Friday or Saturday between 6-9 pm, or Sunday lunch. You won't and you will be stuck with a buzzer loitering in the parking lot or the bar. 2. Parking- At peak times, it is impossible to find a parking spot. 3. Bird Poop- Watch out if you sit on the front porch as birds live in the eaves and will poop on your head (just like they did on my husband's head twice in one meal). Guess those fake owls and bags of water are not that effective. 4. Decor- I'm just not a fan of massive amounts of overblown, multicolored kitsch. Chuy's is Valhalla for anyone who is. For my money, I'd much rather go to Little Pappasitos or the porch at Teala's than here. read more

OK first off this place has a horrible parking situation. I circled back and forth before finding a spot way on the other side. Next, this place is quite popular so the wait can be pretty long once you make it inside. I was first introduced to this local chain in Austin, where we would joke about either going to Rudy's, Trudy's, or Chuy's. And Chuy's was usually the last choice. Well the Chuy's in Austin was good but not great while the one in Houston shouldn't be as popular with so many other options around. As far as the food goes it was your basic over priced tex mex. Recently I was in Houston for a concert with several other girls and when choosing a place for dinner the majority settled on Chuy's. Chuy's is a tex-mex chain resturant. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. We arrived a little after 4pm and were told it was happy hour from 4 to 7pm which was great since the house margaritas during that time were half priced at $3.75 each. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious. The salsa was very fresh and quite spicy, which I loved, but a couple of the other girls thought it was too spicy. They also brought another dipping sauce out with the salsa. It was really good and tasted a little like ranch, but when I asked our waiter what it was I was informed it was their infamous Creamy Jalapeño sauce. This is stuff is famous for a reason. None of us could stop eating it. For my entree I choose the Southwestern enchiladas which are blue corn tortillas stacked with chicken, cheese, green chilies and topped with a fried egg. This was just so-so in my opinion. I feel like there were way too many tortillas and not nearly enough filling. It also came with refried beans and rice which again was just mediocre. Service was friendly and prompt and our waiter even asked if we wanted our checks split up separately before we had a chance to request just that. I think this resturant would be a great place for happy hour margaritas and a side of the salsa and chips along with the creamy jalapeño sauce but I'd look elsewhere for authentic tex mex dining. read more
