First time ever coming to this restaurant. Starting of with the chips and the two sauce was actually really amazing. The salsa was spicy but had that limey taste to it too. The salsa is a little chunky but not to chunky like that . The 2nd sauce is a creamy jalapeño one It was my first time ever trying that type of sauce. I would say that I actually really liked it for a first time trying it. As for the appetizer I ended up ordering the quesadillas. Inside of the quesadillas has white cheese,green chiles, & sautéd onions. It tasted great For the full course meal I ordered- Steak Burrito Now that wasn't so great for me . I think I would have liked it if the steak wasn't so chewy like that . I couldn't really chew the steak throughly or swallow it. Chuy's has pretty basic Tex Mex food and great margaritas. The best thing, in my opinion, isn't even on the menu; Chuy's version of Chicken and Rice. I've been trying to branch out and got their Grilled Shrimp Baja Tacos today, which were pretty good, but still don't beat the chicken and rice. Chuy's chips and salsa are fresh and perfect every time I go, and if I just went for chips, salsa, and margaritas, I would give 5 stars, but because the food is pretty basic and service is slow, I give it 3. Late post..... Decided to give Chuy's one more try. My first two visits were very underwhelming. Well, much to my surprise the food was delicious. I had the "taco" salad with chicken. Other than the shell, it was like eating a very good chicken salad. The lettuce was crisp and the chicken was moist and tender chunks (not shredded). My server, on the other hand, was what I have experienced on the other two visits. Inattentive is the best word I can use to describe it. She was prompt, in the beginning with drink and dinner offer. After that, she didn't come back to my after delivering the food until she brought the check. She passed by me several times and came to the table next to me but never came by. And yes, I did try to get her attention because my drink was empty for at least 1/2 the time. So, the rating of 4 is strictly for the food. My rating for service is a 2.5 and that's only because of the pre meal delivery service. Since the experience was a little better in regard to food, I may give it one more try to see if the service experience will improve. read more

Food is consistently good and I always order something off menu called the Shirley Goo which is chicken and rice with queso(I skip the chicken and get bell peppers as a vegetarian) but I could no reccommend them enough! read more

As per my usual Chuy's starts off with 4 stars. I went there with family on Friday Night 01/07. We were seated promptly and in no time chips and two types of salsas (something that tasted like a creamy green goddess salad dressing and a traditional tomato based red salsa) were brought to the table. Both hit the flavor notes you'd expect but neither seemed to have any heat. At this point I have to say that as a native Texan, I've been to the original Chuy's in Austin many times, and they definitely "deliver the heat"!!! I ordered the "Pancho", (appetizer section) which is described as the following, " if Nachos had an older brother...". Essentially the crispy tortillas were halved as opposed to quartered. I chose chicken as the meat. It came with two generous dollops of a chunky guacamole, jalapeño slices, also strangely not spicy, beans and cheese. I also ordered the Tex-Mex sauce as a side. This sauce is not what I would have expected as a representation of the cuisine that I've studied extensively as a 5th generation Texan. It is reminiscent of Molé, of Oaxaca Mexico, my second home. Clearly to compare the two would be unfair. That said this dark red thick sauce came with nicely browned ground beef, and did have the appropriate "not too sweet, with a bit of bitterness". Even as a prefabricated powdered sauce, I have to say it was "good enough". The decor resembles the Original Chuy's which is a nice touch. The wait staff service was as good as it gets. To reiterate I rarely give 5 stars for my first visit. The salsas could have been spicier, a lot spicier! Also missing was the he signature roasted chili salsa!! Unfortunately I didn't try the rice and beans, which looked to be properly prepared ala Tex-Mex. Me being picky, I suppose I found the menu (online via QR code) somewhat lacking in that the layout was confusing. Get the app to reserve your table and get a text message when your table is ready. Better yet, get a reservation, except they don't take reservations. They call your name from inside. Not sure Amy party of 2 will get her table. You can hang out in the bar if you don't have 3-4 small children with you. Seating was VERY slow. Can you tell I'm writing this standing in a crowd watching people being served next to 5 empty tables just in my line of sight? Finally seated. They have a LOT of seating. Building capacity 334. Several kinds of margarita, all made fresh. Creamy jalapeño dip is excellent, not too spicy. Pico de Gallo is spicier than I like, but very fresh. I had the vegetarian combo, which was outstanding--chili relleno and bean enchilada with rice and beans. Choices on the rice and the beans. Wait staff is excellent. I like the decor. Then she asked if I enjoyed trying unusual dishes which I do so she suggested the Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken. It is a winner! A chicken breast rolled in potato chips which gave it a nice crunch. We have visited Chuy's numerous times now. We have tried something different each trip. This time I tried the Chicken Flautas and I really enjoyed them. Recommend getting the chipotle sauce on the side though. The chicken had a great flavor and they were nice and crispy. My wife tried the Chicken Boom Boom. It was great! But be ready for some heat! Okay so I am so happy that Chuy's has arrived in Huntsville!!! I was in the area for Business today & had a late lunch solo. So I know the food is great here as my husband & ate all the time in the Plano TX location. But today I was honored to have Katherin as my server. So I couldn't decide on a drink. The New Mexican or Texas Martini. So she asked if she should surprise me. So she brought the New Mexican Martini. Delicious!!!! Either one she brought would have been super I am sure. So the Salsa was extra spicy today. So Katherin brings a Creamy Jalapeño dip of sorts & it was so good in combination with the homemade salsa. Next, I conflicted on eating Rellenos or Enchiladas. She pointed out the combination for 1 of each! Got to customize it.... Score. The food was amazing. I had to stop myself because I wanted leftovers. I even asked if I could the dips & chips to go. A friend suggested we try Chuy's for lunch. I tried the Baja Shrimp Tacos, and they were well, not as advertised. The menu said "Flour tortilla with lightly battered and fried shrimp, cilantro, cabbage, pico de gallo & Creamy Jalapeño sauce. I had seen a picture of the shrimp and it was golden brown and crispy looking. What I got was far from the picture. Hardly any batter and the shrimp was soggy not crispy with most of the batter gone. There was NO cabbage, cilantro, or pico de gallo at all. Just some large chunks of onion and bell pepper that poked thru the already soggy tortilla. It just fell apart as I tried to pick it up. And they come wrapped in aluminum foil that was just twisted at the end, I assume to try and keep the shrimp warm, which it did not do. The beans and rice were also not very warm and must have been plated while they were making the tacos. Just a mess to try and eat and not as advertised. Yuck. The wait staff needs to have some type of uniform dress code as they were all just wearing whatever they wanted and it did not look very professional. Was hoping this was like On the Border or other Tex-Mex places we use to go to in Phoenix. This is fairly similar, but not exact. The service was nice, but a bit lacking. They were very busy as apparent to wait to get a table. We weren't ignored, but it took awhile to get refills or the likes, which we understand when a place gets busy. It was also very, very loud to the point we could not hear each other at our own table, which may be a one off since we were sat next to a large table that was celebrating. So not going to hold that against Chuy's. As for the food. The sauces that came out with the chips were really good. However, meals were a little lackluster. The flavors were just not up to the standard we have become accustomed to at other Tex-Mex places we have been. We will give it a second try at a later date, and order something different. read more
