Have been to Chuy's twice and have had an amazing experience each time. Sat at the bar both times and have great service, the drinks are great and have some creativity to them. The food and sides are fantastic, got a mixed plate of items once and the green chili burrito the second time. What sets this place apart is the fresh homemade tortillas they use in there food. You can actually watch them make them! As a chef I was excited to see this, even got to eat one that just came off the grill. Amazing! I confirmed with their corporate that all family packs are supposed to come with 8 oz sizes of salsa and creamy jalapeño dip (4 oz comes with family meal and 4 oz is complimentary). i moved to Tennessee a couple months ago from Arizona, and the mexican food here is anything but authentic. so i'm very skeptical about mexican food here. but my husband brought me to Chuy's staying it was his favorite place in Texas, and how it's very TexMex which i love! i got the green chili steak burrito and it was fantastic and delicious! a little on the spicy side but that's how i love it! and the chips and salsa was so delicious; it came with creamy jalapeño sauce and it was to die for! delicious! 11/10 recommend ! read more

Let me start by saying I don't leave reviews often. The manager Brad does not care customer satisfaction. I wasn't told until my fajitas came out that they just ran out of rice. I was not offered extra beans or vegetables to compensate for not having rice. When I asked the server if there was something he could add he said the kitchen was about to shut down so I asked if I could get a drink on the house he said he would find out. The server brings out a drink, and at the end I was charged for the drink. When I asked to speak to the manager (Brad) he paced around the restaurant watching us from the corner of his eye before coming over. When Brad finally made it his attitude was worse than the food. He didn't introduce himself just asked what do we want. I asked him what he could do for us since they ran out of rice. Brad said he could do 10% off which was fine. Brad takes 10% off my fajitas which is equivalent to $1.70, if Brad would have looked at my entire check or was aware what was going on in his restaurant he would have realized that I had 3 meals come out with no rice. I won't be coming back because clearly my money is not valued in this establishment. Not sure if Brad was stereotyping or incompetent. read more

Chuy's is the brightest shining star in the Mexican food landscape of Murfreesboro. As a native of Texas I have always been accustomed to Tex-Mex; the prospects for true Tex-Mex before Chuy's were pretty slim, save the also magnificent Fiesta Alcapulco. However, with the addition of Chuy's there is now a wonderful option to get your Tex-Mex on in the 'Boro! The only bad thing I've ever had here was the taco salad.... it is basically lettuce.... and more lettuce. The fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, combo plates and other dishes? FANTASTIC! The salsa lacks something to be desired, but it is fresh, along with all the food they serve. To compensate they offer a creamy jalapeno dip that is to die for! The margaritas are amazing, as is the queso dip..... real yellow cheese, not the bland white version popular in so many local Mexican restaurants! The service has always been good when I've been there. The to-go service can be spotty at times, but I've never had an experience where the manager wasn't more than willing to bend over backward to remedy a mistake. Go..... check it out. Fantastic Chuy's food but to make it even better the service on a busy Friday night was outstanding. Yes we had to wait to be seated but it's a Friday night so expected. Once seated not only was our server (Hayden) quick and remained attentive but simply watching the entire crew working together as a team was impressive. From how quickly the tables were bussed or spills cleaned up (a kid at a nearby table spilled his drink which was cleaned up before many even noticed it) to how the servers and managers worked together seamlessly. From where I sat I could also see into the kitchen and it looked like those guys were having a blast working as fast as they could. I'm a huge Chuy's fan that looks fir this restaurant when traveling since there's isn't one where I live and the entire staff at this particular Chuy's stands out as the best team effort in any Chuy's I've ever visited. read more

The wait was forever. This, to me, doesn't signal the red flags - this means the place is good and everyone comes here to eat delicious food!! However, the food was mediocre. I didn't have anything that screamed YUMMMMYYYY. I thought the homemade tortillas weren't even that good and tasted like dough that hadn't been cooked. I'm typically not a frequent customer at chain restaurants, but I will go to Chuy's over and over. My favorite entree is the custom enchiladas, which I order cheese topped with boom-boom sauce, a spicy cheese sauce. Cheese topped with cheese. If that's wrong, I don't want to be right! I also love their green chile rice and request a double serving of that, leaving off the beans. The rice is spicy too, but if you don't request it, you'll get the standard rice served in most Tex-Mex restaurants. I also love their jalapeno dip, which is free upon request with your chips and salsa. Notice a pattern here? Yes, I love spicy food, but none of it is overly, burn your face off spicy. Chuy's always has fast and friendly service, and they make their tortillas on the premises. If you're a fan of Tex-Mex and have never been to Chuy's go now. I promise you will love it! read more

I made the mistake of going to Chuy's Tex Mex in Murfreesboro, a restaurant already getting a bad rep for poor service, on one of the busiest nights ever for Mexican restaurants (Cinco de Mayo). I have good points and bad points I'm going to touch on in this review because I was impressed in some areas and very disappointed in others. To start- My party and I had to wait for an hour, outside on the curb, to get a table because the bar and outside seating area was completely packed. But, it was Cinco de Mayo and other people were outside so I brushed that aside. Once we got inside and seated, it took our server a long time to get to us and take our drink order. Most of the employees there are teenagers and they were more interested in talking to eachother and messing with their phones. The atmosphere does live up to the Tex Mex theme though, country music and Spanish style decor. Very eye catching. We started off with an appetizer, The Appetizer Plate to be exact. It was $8.99 and came with a small bowl of Chile con Queso, nachos (4), deluxe quesadillas (2), chicken flautas (4), and sour cream and quacamole for dipping. This could have been a meal for me. It was so satisfying, the plate was as big as my head and the food really impressed me. The chicken flautas were definitely my favorite and I reccommend this appetizer if you eat here! As a main course, I got the #2, The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo ($9.79) which came with a beef Tex mex enchilada, cheese ranchero enchilada, chicken tomatilla enchilada, a crispy taco and chile con queso wings. This is where I was very unimpressed. The enchilada sauce had way too much chilli powder, it was very overpowering and it was all you could taste. The tortillas were way too thick and there was hardly anything inside the enchilada. The "crispy" taco was a softtaco shell with ground beef inside of it, and the chile con queso "wings" were nacho chips dipped in queso cheese. I was very disappointed with my main course as well as the service I received. But I will say that I plan on going back on a not so busy night and trying something other than the enchiladas. Their beans and rice, queso cheese, and appetizer plate were amazing so I'd like to go back and try another main course just to see. Don't expect much service wise at this particular location though. read more

I was given a little Chuy's tease when some friends brought their chips and dips to a party we had - and it was all delish!! I also have been eyeing their amazing patio for some time. So one gorgeous fall like September Sunday (Sundays are when my husband and I cheat and have Mexican) we decided to give it a try! No wait, great spot outside, chips, salsa and guac were amazing. Then ... the food (and crap service) come out. First, I sat for 10 min waiting on a refill. I usually give slack when a section is full...But we were the only people in her section. Next the food comes. I got the veggie enchilada. cheese on the side .. add shredded chicken. It had cheese on the side, but also tons inside as well - and that was basically ALL that was inside. There was maybe a small tablespoon of veggies and ONE PIECE very small piece of shredded chicken in each corn tortilla. I didn't want to eat any of it, to show the sever what wasn't there...but she took forever to come back. Finally 10 min pass and she returns to ask about our food. I asked for a manager and she came out shortly. Apologized. Comped my meal. I give them one star for the Guac. The rest was horrible. As for the husbands meal - it was just "ok". He stopped eating - none of it was was worth the calories. read more

I am instantly happier at the mention of Chuy's, and I almost lost it when I saw Chuy's reps tabling at a weiner dog show in Atlanta, GA.. They're getting closer to my home! Come to meeeeee. Okay, all that's well and good, but how about starting at the beginning? Once upon a time, I visited Murfreesboro and made a friend who, unbeknownst to me, was a Chuy's employee! Despite feeling rude for dragging him to his workplace on a night off, we were Chuy's-bound on our bikes before I could say, "take me to the best Mexican restaurant in town"! Can I just start with the servers? The bartenders? The cooks? I met a bunch of them and they were all either (a)really nice (b)really cool or (c)both and funny to boot. Ok, and then: the chip car! Yes! A car whose engine is replaced by chips and salsa and queso! Help yourselves, folks! I gave myself a Cadillac-sized portion and ate all of them, which is my way of saving room for the amazing chile rellenos and shrimp-stuffed something-or-other (it gets hazy there because of the quality margaritas that just kept coming)! All the while, we would ask for extra flour tortillas because they are HAND MADE and THE FLUFFIEST. Definitely the best Tex-Mex of my young life. read more

I've been to Chuy's three times now (not counting to-go!) and for the most part, 'wow!' is what best captures my feelings on the joint. Even walking up to the front door for the first time, the muzak impressed me as quirkier and having a lot more character than any other chain restaurant I've visited. We're talking Velvet Underground b-sides, y'all. The patio is also very bright and lively, and more often than not packed full of people. There's no smoking on the premises, including the patio, which non-smokers will certainly appreciate. Walking into the building is almost an assault on the senses, as busy and visually stimulating it is. There are themes to each room, but my favorite is the car room: the ceiling is *covered* in hubcaps from American model cars, and there are paintings of classic cars on the walls. There are Easter eggs hidden throughout the building, literally eggs that are VERY cleverly disguised. I was almost more entertained by finding them than the kids in my party. There are thousands of wooden fish hanging from the ceiling, these really cool corn husk (maybe?) chandeliers in one room, and ladies rolling fresh tortillas behind a plexiglas wall. That makes me feel like I'm looking at animals in the zoo, though, I always avoid it. The food I've had so far is AWESOME. The Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is my favorite at this point, although the steak burrito is super yummy and enough for 3 meals for me, and the Elvis Presley chicken is unlike anything I've seen around here (in a good way!) Make sure you try the creamy jalapeno ranch appetizer! I don't believe any entree is above $10, which is great during this FUBAR economy. During happy hour (Mon-Fri 4-7, I think) there is a free nacho bar in the engine compartment of another classic car - I can make a meal out of that alone, as it has multiple salsas, beans, beef, and queso - yum! Their signature drinks are super good, but honestly unless it's a birthday I tend to just stick with beer, so I have no opinion on that. The only thing I'm not impressed with is the service there. As Brandi noted, it seems like a bunch of kids who have something better to do with their time. There's one girl I had the pleasure of being served by twice and she was AWESOME, if you get Anna then you've lucked out, she seems to be on top of her game. I would stick to late afternoon if you want to go eat without waiting an hour, until the hubbub dies down. But definitely go if you haven't already! -- Something amusing I learned from their Wiki: Chuy's is the restaurant the Bush twins were arrested at in back in the early 00s! And what I learned after asking a bartender about it: No Chuy's has draught beer anymore, almost immediately after the Bush girls' incident all kegs and taps were stripped from Chuy's locations. We went to Chuy's twice and it was really good but we will not go back because of the service. The first time we went there was shortly before 5pm. We were seated right away and we ordered mojitos. The drinks were so incredibly weak that we actually thought there was no rum in them We ordered food and it was terrific but we were constantly interrupted by our server including pushing us to pay before we were done eating. We finally took it to go to get some peace. The second time I went I took my daughter. The short redhead waiter came over and asked if we would like to order cocktails. Based on previous experience, we declined. He kept pushing and I told him about our weak drinks. He stormed of and got us a new waiter. Thank goodness because the red head continued for the rest of our visit by either spilling on his guests (twice!) or insulting them (he told two full bodied guests that they certainly looked like they would be wanting dessert). Bad form. Our food was good but there was a missing fried egg and as well as missing guac. The bottom line is that this place is probably best for take out, just check your order before you leave. read more

I like chuys and the people there but it seems like they're lacking in the management area. All we ordered was a Mexi Cobb salad on a night that wasn't too busy. It took 25 minutes to get it and then it didn't have chicken on it. Everyone works hard but it seems like this kind of stuff happens a lot when I'm here. An oasis in Murfreesboro for this Nashvillian late one might after a high school soccer game. Got there at close to 10, place was dead but the service was awesome! With the exception of some late night cleaning, the food quality and awesome service was no different than if we had come in at 7 o'clock. A native Texan, I always take the opportunity to have a taste at home, and this Chuy's was as if I was sitting in downtown Austin! First time every going to Chuys and I was impressed. Their mexican is definitely not like your other mexican joints. To me it was more of american type then mexican but still yummy and affordable. Their jalapeno dip is soooo good and their chips were light and fresh. Now the only thing I didnt like about it was their taco salad. Yes they are HUGE....BUT, the are not like your usual mexican places. You know where after you mix it all up the sour cream and the cheese is all melted together and forms more of a soup. At Chuys my kids had to ask for salad dressing for them to top their taco salads with. Chuys taco salads are more like a normal salad put in a fried shell. But that was the only complaint I had with this place. We will be back. read more

We have eaten here for both lunch and dinner and we have never been disappointed. Their chicken is really wonderful and we have enjoyed it in many different dishes. I love their creamy jalapeno dip. It's pretty much like fresh ranch with a kick. Their chips are really thin, and while that makes dipping them a little tricky and mess, they are always very fresh and delicious. Despite it being a "chain" restaurant, it doesn't feel like one. I can't give it five stars, because it is always slightly warm in there, just enough to be stuffy and uncomfortable. read more
